I used jades last combo on her list, you have to add a hit or two though.

Liu Kang makes it a snap. He has a four hit combo that pops them up, and then do his bycicle kick. If you are near the edge it will stop between 7 and 9 hits, it took me a few tries, but just when time was about to run out it reached 12 hits.
It works.

i used jade's 3style branch combo that ended with up+X and did a 3 hit combo after dont remember which one though
