It was in MK:Mythologies. As payment for the Lin Kuei stealing the Map of the Elements, Quan Chi wiped out every member of the Shirai Ryu and the families.

its too bad though, I read somewhere that scorpions clan were masters with their weapons in some supernatural way, I guess thats why he has a spear coming out of his hand like that.

I don't believe it was actually stated about the clan, it was only ever said about his family.

The story is:

Spread throughout Japan, the Ninja exist as the Lin Kuei's Japanese counterpart. It is believed that a renegade, Japanese-born Lin Kuei warrior named Takeda developed the art of Ninjutsu hundreds of years ago. He returned to Japan to offer his services and knowledge to various lords and generals during that country's feudal period. Many of his skills and techniques were soon copied and learned throughout his homeland.

The Ninja have never existed as one collected clan. They work as a loosely connected spy network, made up of several small clans. One such clan is known as the Shirai Ryu. Their founder was Takeda himself, making the Shirai Ryu the very first ninja clan. This also made them instant foes of the Lin Kuei and made Takeda a target for assassination. But, he managed to elude his attackers until his elder years, when he died not from a vicious battle, but in his sleep - a victim of poison slipped into his tea. Scorpion is the code name for a modern day member of the Shirai Ryu named Hanzo Hasashi. His latest mission leads him into the heart of China, home of the rival Lin Kuei and location of the Shaolin temple where his mission is to steal the sacred Map of Elements.


I think that another member of the clan will one day be involved in the game. I sure hope so!

yeah...i know that his family was killed...
anyways, if the entire clan were killed....one of its nembers could return from death like did scorpion....but i think this will not be seen...(that the same story again)..but well...........
in other ways, scorpion can recluit new fighters and form the new shirai ryu (Shin Shirai ryu..could be)becoming the "grand master" of his clan..

another shirai ryu spectre?? nah 1 is enough and would take the whole novelty value off scorpion besides theres already 1 avenger of the shirai ryu, there shouldn't b ne need 4 another, mortal kombat has always been about 1 on 1 fights, not multiple assassination attempts.

well........probably , yes.....another specter is no good, but WAHT ABOUT THAT SCORPION FATALITY THAT HE SUMMONS ANOTHERs SHINRAI RYU (or scorpions clones).......

I think it's time to bring in another Ninja clan to rebel against Sektor and the Tekikuen.
