Aesthetically, I mean.
I have too say, the MK characters are looking awesome in this game. I always thought Jax looked really lame, but the man actually looks bad @$$ in this game. Same with Sonya.
I've thought, for a long time, that most MK characters looked like cheesy 90's videogame characters. And I guess they were. BUT MK vs DC has shown me that their looks can be updated too make them look pretty damn awesome. With the exception of Scorpion and Sub-Zero who always seem too have a new look, the other characters don't get the same attention (well Reptile too I guess, kinda.) So it's good too see some needed love.
Anyone else love some of our favorite characters updated looks?
Man, this game really makes me hope MK9 (or whatever number it is) will return too the basic cast and act as a reboot for this series, cause MK vs DC has proven too me, these MK characters can withstand the test of time.

To me, almost everyone just looks like a more detailed version of the sort of clothes they already adopted in Deadly Alliance. (In Shang's case, his alt costume) People far too often underestimate how much MKDA did for the series artistically and narratively.
The exceptions would be Jax, who looks AND plays better than he has in a decade, and Liu Kang. Granted, most people don't like the big champion belt or the rope-tied boots, but I love them.

SO true.
Almost all the characters received fantastic new looks that are most definitely a breath of fresh air.

Actually, there are more noticeable characters who always get revamped improved looks with each new game. Take a loot at Sonya and Shang Tsung,

Oh man, even the MK team said Sonya received one of the best most detailed looks. So much attention was given to her that the results were just glorious:
*Outfit*
* She got an amazing new character outfit design that maintained (and recovered) classic elements from the past. This makes her feel fresh, new, like a breath of fresh air yet again. I love how they always reinvent her. The awesome and multiple strip-bands that go around her body, the amazing futuristic like globes, the watch, the detail of her tanned thong, the wicked boots, the tight pants, the new short V-neck shirt, the sexy beret, her impressive abs, the dog tags, and all the extra detail/stuff make her stand out as one of those who was really put into work.
*Hair Style*
* She has THE MOST BEAUTIFUL and SEXY HAIR STYLE EVER!!!. Period.
The beautiful hair bangs that cover half of her face are very stylish. The Goth/Emo look truly suits her personality. You get a feeling of beauty, danger, toughness, in those cold calculative eyes (you can even see this extremely well not only in her official render, but also in her in-game model AND the cover drawn by Alex Ross).
I love how this was slightly used in MK3, and how it later came to be an option in the art pieces we saw of her in MKDA and MKSM. I'm very very happy they decided to go like this with her.
I vividly remember talking with QueenSindel(TheBitch) A LOT about giving Sonya beautiful hair-bangs similar to Lara Croft when her first pic (fighting Flash) was revealed, and how it would had been beautiful for the MK team to do that for her character. We had absolutely NO idea she actually had them as we were later revealed thanks to new pics and her render, but we were (specially me I guess) thrilled and psyched with how they made them look soooooo good! Much much better then anything I wanted or expected.
To make things ever better, they brought back her AWESOME pony-tail. I adore Sonya with shorter hair like in MKDA, but the pony-tail is probably the best thing ever for her. And it works even better know that she has those sexy hair-bangs.
*Character*
What can I say? She looks gorgeous!!!
Besides, the team is well known for not doing well their female renders (which is ironic because most of them look great in the other art and other extra renders, and Wonderwoman looks extremely beautiful in that super high quality box art render of her), and I dont even need to give any examples.

Agreed.

I SO agree with you.
MKDA is probably the best thing that could had happened to MK...ever. I still have to play mk vs dc to see if that’s going to change, but as of now, mk vs dc seems to be N 2.

Like I said, almost all the characters look new, and Liu Kang is one of those who didn’t, and that sucks. He could had looked classic and iconic with a new outfit like most of the others did, imo.
But like you, I love the rope-tied boots, but he should have gotten a vast improvement in his outfit.
