Hey all
First post here so be gentle.
Now I don't have anything to base this on, and it's really just my ramblings but I figured I'd throw it up for discussion anyways.
PART 1
So far, we've seen that the MK:DA models are on the PS2 and Xbox disks (well Xbox for sure). This is how someone made a trainer for the xbox version (using a modded xbox) that unlocks the DA character models and makes them playable, albeit buggy.
The reason they freeze MK:D seems to be they are missing code for dealing with falling off of stages, dealing with the new fatalities. They are also missing special moves and fatalities.
So basically, we have the meat and potatoes of all the MK:DA models...functioning at 90%
PART 2
I have "heard" in other forums that the GC version will have extra characters....and of course the Xbox and PS2 have online play and an earlier release date as a trade off.
Now some say the later GC sells are to allow Midway to see if they even want to release a GC version. Others argue there is a need to compress everything for GC much more and this takes additional time.
While these seem like valid reasons for a longer GC release, I have a third theory.
********************************************************************
What if the reason the GC version is taking longer is because it will include all of the MK:DA models as well as what we currently have in MK:?
Now keep pretending....What if the MK:DA team just didn't have enough time to completel code for all the MK:DA characters...new fatalities, new special moves, etc?
So (keep pretending) they decide to wait on the GC version and release the PS2 and Xbox version sooner with 90% of the DA models completed...and plan on using the online connectivity to upload the last little bits of code to have working DA characters?!
Of course, they will (your still pretending right?) wait until the GC launch to release the "patch" to people who bought the PS2 and Xbox versions.
Any Thoughts?
Makes me want to ask Boon during Fight Night if there is any plans for downloadable content...
