I think these are the only games you can officially relly youre story on. I mean, Lui Kang won the first tournament, and then in MKDA shang tsung distroyed Lui Kang by killing him. All the stuff in between didnt happen. Now, in MK6, its the continuation of MKDA, but a whole new game.
Does anyone think like me that MK2 3 and 4 dont count? I know its a big subject to discuss, so please post as many opinions as you can, thanks.

I do believe they count, but when you think about it the core story of Deception only really rellies on MK1 and MK:DA. The characters stories how ever would need a lot of explaining.

It only makes sense that after Lui Kang won the first tournament, Shang tsung snapped his neck many years later. I mean think about it, Lui Kang didnt win 4 Mortal Kombats in a row. Common

I disagree. Does it make sense to have ninjas made out of smoke, or sorcerers that can take your soul? Liu Kang won the first two tournaments, then Earthrealm deflected Shao Kahn's forces. Liu Kang then managed to aid Kitana in saving Edenia. It's sort of just the core stories between the characters aren't that directly connected.

Sorry gang, my mind is set like stone. I blieve MK1 MKDA and MKD are the only games with stories that count. However, all opinions are welcome in my post! Thanks!

I already posted this in another thread, but here we go again. So we start at the end of the Mortal Kombat tournament. Lui Kang beats Goro and Shang Tsung and is now champ. On to MK2...MK2 follows MK naturally. Shao Kahn gets the earthrealm warriors to come to outworld to participate in a Mortal Kombat tournament. Or so they thought. The Outworld Mortal Kombat tourny was not actually a REAL mortal kombat tournament. Just a plot to kill all the earthrealm warriors, then take over earthrealm. Since this isn't a real tournament, Lui Kang is still the winner. Ok, on to MK3... So while all of this is going on during MK2, Shao Kahn is trying to bring back Sindel. Right at the end of MK2, he does. Now he has the power to take over earthrealm. He takes all the souls of earth, and trys to claim it for his own. Raiden protects the earth warriors, and in the end stop Shao Kahn from taking over the earthrealm. Again, MK3 had no tournament so Lui Kang is still the champ. MK4 went alittle off coarse and talked about Shinnok and Quan Chi and left out Shao Khan. Same premise. Someone is trying to take over the realms, the earth warriors stop it. Now we have MKDA. It goes fromt there. All stories are correct, but MK4 could be a prequel if you will or it can follow MK3. Correct me on anything if I am wrong on something.

youre not wrong, opinions are never wrong, but it depends how you want to interpret mortal kombat. Like I said, my mind is set. Didnt mean to misread youre post by the way :)

I guess any story that fits in with the bios is canon.

I'm finding the complete story line. Which, is going to be exactly what I just told you a few minutes ago, but since you think it's opinion and not fact I'm going to prove you wrong.

Fugin are you talking to me or to you know who?
Personally, I totally left out MK3-MK4 when palying DA. Their stories didn't seem to click with one another, and would cause mass confusion. I just count MK1 MK2 and MKDA as true stories, and now NK:D will be counted as well. MK2 clicks good because it continued somewhat where MK1 took off, and introduced alot of key characters now crucial to the plot. And lets not get on how Reptile turned into a dinosaur, thats discussion for another thread. ;)

How can MK2-4 not matter? I just don't understand the reasoning behind it. There's no reason to suspect their stories didn't actually take place. Not trying to say you're wrong or anything, but I don't understand where this theory even came about, or why you'd think it.

The History Of Mortal Komat
Mortal Kombat didn't rely on just good looks and gore for its success. Although the intense gore was a great way to attract attention, Mortal Kombat offered another side - an often-overlooked side - that kept people coming back for more: its storyline. The storyline of Mortal Kombat was one of the most elaborate ever seen in a video game. The following is the MK saga in its entirety, based on the storylines appearing in the Mortal Kombat fighting games (MK, MKII, MK3, UMK3, MKT, MK4) as well as Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero.
Before we start, one thing you must be aware of to understand the MK story correctly is that there has not been a real "winner" since MK1, so don't expect a specific answer to "who won which tournament?" The original MK was a tournament. MKII was not formally a tournament, but rather a plot to lure Earth's warriors to fight in Kahn's own tournament. MK3 was an invasion of Earth. And the beginning of MK Trilogy explained the origins of the MK tournament, how it worked and why it happened, rather than advancing the storyline (MKT took place during the MK3 invasion).
Misconceptions
The story endings in Mortal Kombat 4 were "What if?" scenarios depicting the immediate events that would take place if the character were to win this war. The endings in the 2D Mortal Kombat games (MK1, II, 3, Ultimate, and Trilogy) generally gave you two things: a recap of the character's recent and/or distant past and a description of a "What if?" scenario for the character if he or she were to win. For example, the agreement in MKII between Scorpion and the young Sub-Zero never took place because it would only have happened if one of them had defeated Shao Kahn in the Outworld - neither of them did.
Because of Mortal Kombat's "What if?" scenarios, many people were confused about what really happened in the story. Because there was so much extra information that didn't apply to the true storyline, people developed numerous misconceptions, which lead to many debates on the matter. What we have compiled here is a focus on everything that we can deduce happened, given the storylines of consecutive sequels.
Background
In the Mortal Kombat storyline, reality consists of many planes. Free-roaming sorcerers are able to travel these planes of reality without the elder gods detecting them. These elder gods exist in the heavens, watching as worlds are created and destroyed, governing them with eons of untold wisdom. On the living planet called Earth, there are many gods existing quietly without interfering with the everyday lives of Earth's inhabitants. And other gods are appointed by their elders to perform certain tasks.
A dead world called the Netherealm is used to contain unwanted spirits. It has been interpreted in many ways, and the inhabitants of Earth refer to it by many names, including Hell, Hades, Gehenna, and Pluto. The Netherealm has had many rulers in the course of its existence, most born within its fiery pits, eventually overthrowing their masters mercilessly.
The Rise of Shinnok in the Netherealm
Later in the millennium, a free-roaming sorcerer named Quan Chi approached Shinnok, aware of Shinnok's suffering for thousands of years in the Netherealm. In exchange for power and the position of ruling at Shinnok's side, Quan Chi agreed that he would free Shinnok from his confines and assist him in defeating Lucifer. The two waged a war against Lucifer and his minions, which lasted for centuries. Eventually, the war came to an end when Shinnok viciously slew Lucifer and took his seat as the new ruler. However, since the Netherealm had never been a living planet like the Outworld, Shinnok had nothing to rule over but a wasteland of fire and brimstone inhabited by grotesque demons. So he decided to create a physical world. He transformed the demons into a form as human as possible and tried his best to emulate the realm he wanted so passionately. But the Netherealm was and always would be a dead world, with its true form being hidden by its new ruler.
As a reward for freeing him and helping him defeat Lucifer's forces, Shinnok gave Quan Chi the position of arch-sorcerer, to rule at his side in the now-expanded Netherealm. If Shinnok could somehow escape from the Netherealm entirely, they could rule over a much larger territory. But the only way that would happen would be if Shinnok regained possession of the amulet. The Shaolin monks discovered the sacred Map of Elements and kept it hidden within their temples in China. Quan Chi spent centuries making one failed attempt after another to acquire the Map of Elements. Only a select few, including a Shaolin monk named Kung Lao, knew of the map's existence and the story it told.
The Mortal Kombat Tournament
Soon after Shao Kahn's takeover of the Outworld, an order of Earth's wisest men, in the Far East, received visions of the dark emperor. To prevent such an invasion of Earth, they created their own tournament. This tournament was known as Mortal Kombat, hosted by the Shaolin temples. Once every generation, warriors from around the world were invited to compete in it. If Outworld warriors could win ten tournaments in a row, Shao Kahn would be allowed to enter Earth and do with it as he pleased.
Shang Tsung, an Earth-born servant of Shao Kahn, eventually won the Mortal Kombat tournament. To please Kahn, Tsung not only took the lives of his opponents, but he took their souls as well. After repeated victories in the tournaments that followed, Tsung became overconfident. Before he could claim ten victories, Tsung's overconfidence proved to be his undoing, for Kung Lao, representing the Shaolin temples, defeated him.
The Lin Kuei Clan
For centuries, in the northeastern parts of China there existed a secret clan of assassins and thieves known as the Lin Kuei. Its warriors were humans with special skills and abilities, chosen at birth to be raised apart from the workings of day-to-day civilization. These warriors were stripped of their former lives, and only the clan knew of their existence. Their abilities were passed on from generation to generation and honed through life experiences.
A fourth-generation Lin Kuei warrior by the name of Sub-Zero made himself a life in America as a cover for his true identity and purpose as an assassin. He had a wife, two sons, and a daughter. His wife wanted a normal life for her sons, so she tried in vain to hide her sons from their father. Eventually, the two sons were found, and their father returned with them to China. Their mother and sister were never seen or heard from again. The older son soon inherited the name of Sub-Zero.
The Ninja
During Japan's feudal period, a renegade Japanese-born Lin Kuei warrior named Takeda returned to his homeland and offered his services to various lords and generals. Many of his skills and techniques were copied and learned throughout Japan, eventually evolving into the art of ninjitsu. Unlike Lin Kuei, the art of ninjitsu involves the use of weapons and magic that can be mastered by any human with enough practice.
The ninjas didn't exist as a single collective clan, but rather worked as a loosely connected spy network made up of several small clans. The first ninja clan was the Shirai Ryu clan, founded by Takeda. These ninjas became foes of the Lin Kuei, and Takeda became a target for assassination.
The Reign of Terror
Soon came the mysterious death of one of the three Mortal Kombat tournament masters, Shang Tsung returned, prematurely aged and weakened from his previous failure, and brought with him the half-human dragon, Goro, a member of the Shokan (a race of four-armed creatures from the Outworld). Together, they unbalanced the furies and tipped the scales of order toward chaos.
In a brutal battle, Goro defeated Kung Lao and became the new Mortal Kombat champion. Shang Tsung took Lao's soul, retaining the former-champion's thoughts and memories. He took control of the Mortal Kombat tournament. It was the beginning of an era that alienated the Shaolin from their own tournament. Goro maintained his title for nine generations, leaving Earth one last opportunity to defend itself against an Outworld invasion. All that was needed was one Earth warrior who could defeat Goro and break the Outworld's streak.
Shang Tsung discovered the location of the sacred Map of Elements through Kung Lao's thoughts and memories. Shao Kahn made him a free-roaming sorcerer for devising a plan that could almost assure The Outworld's success.
About ten years prior to the next tournament, Shang Tsung struck a deal with Quan Chi. In exchange for the location of the map, Shinnok was to take Sindel's soul, taint it with evil, and reincarnate it on the Earth realm, which gave Shao Kahn the ability to step through the dimensional gates between the Earth and Outworld in order to reclaim his queen. This let Kahn overtake Earth and bar Raiden and the elder gods from intervening, whether or not Goro won his tenth victory in Mortal Kombat.
Sub-Zero and Scorpion
What Shang Tsung failed to tell Quan Chi was that the four elemental gods were guarding the amulet. The mere existence of these guards made it impossible for Quan Chi to enter the temple where the amulet rested. So he decided he needed to persuade a human to enter, one who could perhaps defeat the elements.
The fifth Sub-Zero (the older of the fourth Sub-Zero's two sons) learned of his ability to harness the element of cold as a young adult. The Lin Kuei's grandmasters saw that his skill would develop much faster than those of other Lin Kuei clan members. On one of his first missions as a Lin Kuei warrior, Sub-Zero was to steal the sacred Map of Elements from the Shaolin Temples in the heart of China. Quan Chi realized that Sub-Zero's ice powers gave him an edge, making him one of the only humans with the ability to defeat the elements.
Takeda managed to elude assassination by the Lin Kuei until his elder years, when his life came to an end, not from a vicious battle, but from poison slipped into his tea. A modern member of the Shirai Ryu named Hanzo Hasashi (code name Scorpion) was sent on the same mission as well.
Sub-Zero and Scorpion arrived at the Shaolin temples, and Sub-Zero killed Scorpion in the battle that ensued upon their meeting. He returned to the Lin Kuei headquarters with the sacred Map of Elements, suspicious of Quan Chi for retaining the services of a Shirai Ryu ninja.
Quan Chi supplied the skeleton of Takeda, and the grandmaster was pleased. Sub-Zero then went on a mission through the temple that housed the amulet. Scorpion was given a chance by his demons to return to life to avenge his death, but in doing so, he would lose his memory of his wife and child forever. He chose to return, bent on revenge against Sub-Zero.
Sub-Zero managed to defeat the elements just as Quan Chi had foreseen. Quan Chi then received the amulet from his pawn, and Raiden was enraged. He sent Sub-Zero back into the Netherealm to regain the amulet before Shinnok used it to enter the Earth realm. Sub-Zero managed to get the amulet back into the hands of Raiden. By doing so, he prevented the destructive battles between Shinnok and Raiden from being fought, at least for the time being.
Arriving back in Lin Kuei headquarters, Sub-Zero was assigned to compete in Mortal Kombat. He boarded the boat to Shang Tsung's uncharted island. Scorpion, in the form of a reincarnated specter, soon learned of Sub-Zero's intentions and followed the Lin Kuei warrior
The New Warriors of Earth
Shang Tsung issued a personal invitation to Raiden. Raiden accepted the invitation and took on a human form to take part in Mortal Kombat.
Liu Kang, a former Shaolin monk, was a member of the supersecret White Lotus Society. Strong in his beliefs, he despised Shang Tsung. After receiving an invitation to the tournament, he quit the White Lotus and got permission to represent the Shaolin temples in Mortal Kombat. He boarded the boat in hopes of returning the tournament to the Shaolin temples.
Beneath a bridge, in the combat zones of this tournament, lived a reptilian creature of a near-extinct race from the Outworld. Known to humans only as Reptile, he hid behind a disguise that covered his reptilian form, and he served as Shang Tsung's personal protector. Johnny Cage - real name John Carlton - a skilled fighter trained by martial artists from around the world, used his talent in Hollywood. On a personal mission to prove that he wasn't a fake, he boarded the boat to the tournament.
The Black Dragon was an organization of feared and respected men in the inner circles of crime on Earth. Kano, a member of the Black Dragon, was being chased by a unit of Special Forces agents led by Lt. Sonya Blade. They chased him until he had no choice but to jump onto a boat that was leaving the shore. Little did he know the boat was headed to the site of the Mortal Kombat tournament. Sonya's unit slowly followed the boat.
Johnny Cage and Kano had a small quarrel aboard the boat. The confrontation was quickly ended by Liu Kang, who helped Cage and became acquainted with the American martial arts actor. Watching these events as they unfolded was none other than Sub-Zero. Scorpion spotted Sub-Zero and confronted him, telling the Lin Kuei warrior that he would die in Mortal Kombat.
The Kombat Begins
When the boat arrived at the island, Shang Tsung's personal army captured Sonya's Special Forces unit and forced her to compete in the tournament. He promised her that if she performed well in battle, he would free the other members of her unit.
Scorpion defeated Sub-Zero in combat and took the life of the Lin Kuei warrior. Because of this he was sentenced to exist forever under his secret curse, never again knowing the family he once had. Liu Kang eventually defeated Goro and took the title from the Shokan prince. Goro disappeared from the scene shortly after, while Kang went on to defeat Shang Tsung. Shang Tsung returned to his emperor, Shao Kahn, facing execution. He begged for another chance. Kahn granted him a second chance and restored his youth. His new plan was to lure the Earth warriors into the Outworld to fight and meet certain death by Shao Kahn himself.
Life After Kombat
Liu Kang returned to the Shaolin temples to celebrate his victory, only to find the temples in ruins and his brothers murdered by a group of Outworld nomads led by Baraka. Liu Kang traveled into the Outworld to locate those responsible for the destruction of his temples. He was joined by Kung Lao, a descendant of the legendary former champion (of the same name).
Johnny Cage returned to Hollywood and filmed a movie based on his experiences, believed by viewers to be pure fiction. He soon learned of Liu Kang's journey into the Outworld, so he decided to follow his comrade.
Lt. Sonya Blade and Kano were both captured by Outworld forces after the first tournament. Jackson "Jax" Briggs, originally a member of Sonya's unit, traveled into the Outworld in search of Sonya and to help capture Kano.
Raiden soon ventured into the Outworld alone to help battle Kahn's forces.
Lin Kuei headquarters sent an assassin into the Outworld. This new assassin was the sixth Sub-Zero, the younger brother of the previous Sub-Zero. A close friend of his, Smoke, followed along. Scorpion learned of Sub-Zero's intentions and followed him into the Outworld, believing this Sub-Zero might have been the one he had already defeated in Mortal Kombat.
Princess Kitana and Jade continue to serve as assassins under Shao Kahn. In an attempt to stop Kitana if she should betray him, Kahn ordered Shang Tsung to create a grotesque clone of the princess, known as Mileena.
Reptile served as Tsung's protector once again, remaining in his human form. Baraka, recruited into Kahn's army for his fighting skills, joined the combat as well. After the defeat and disappearance of Goro, another member of the Shokan race was assigned to lead Kahn's forces. His name was Kintaro, a relative of Goro with tiger-striped skin.
The Outworld Tournament
The violent battles of the Outworld tournament began - Earth forces battled the Outworlders with great effort. Kitana took the life of Mileena. She was then accused of treason by the high courts of the Outworld. Jax found Sonya and Kano chained to posts where Shao Kahn fought his opponents. He freed them both, and Kano escaped capture again. By this time, Shinnok was just about finished with the process of Sindel's resurrection, and Shao Kahn was then ready to enact his plan.
Major Jackson "Jax" Briggs and Lt. Sonya Blade returned to the US and reported these recent events to the American government. After supplying them with details on Kahn's plans, the two were considered insane. They were left with no choice but to prepare independently for the invasion. Jax equipped himself with bionic arms.
Liu Kang returned to the Earth realm with Johnny Cage and Kung Lao, as they prepared to take on the forces of Outworld.
Sub-Zero and Smoke returned to Lin Kuei headquarters and found that members of the clan were being automated. The Lin Kuei were building cybernetic ninjas to take the place of human services, the first two being Cyrax (Unit LK-4D4) and Sektor (Unit LK-9T9). Sub-Zero and Smoke refused to be automated, so they tried to escape. Sub-Zero succeeded in doing so, but Smoke was captured by the clan and was turned into a heartless cybernetic assassin with only a fraction of his true self left in him. Sub-Zero went on to prepare for the invasion. He removed his mask to signify his quitting Lin Kuei, and he joined the rebellion against Shao Kahn's forces. The Lin Kuei then sent Cyrax and Sektor to assassinate Sub-Zero.
Kano, having escaped capture from the US Army, remained in the Outworld and made a deal with Shao Kahn. He would teach the emperor's forces to use Earth weapons, in exchange for his life. Sheeva, a female member of the Shokan race, was appointed as Sindel's personal protector. Motaro, a Centaur (a race that opposes the Shokan by nature), was assigned to lead the attack on Earth. Sheeva grew suspicious of Kahn's loyalty to her race. Shang Tsung remained in the position of Kahn's lead sorcerer.
The Invasion
A large portal opened in the sky and panic filled the streets. The elder gods chose a lineup of Earth's warriors and protected their souls, but not their lives, from Kahn. Shao Kahn entered the Earth realm, merged it with the Outworld, and took the souls of Earth's inhabitants, slowly turning Earth into a part of the Outworld. Knowing that the chosen warriors would survive, Kahn sent out extermination squads led by Motaro to eliminate the survivors. Johnny Cage was one of their many victims.
After the attacks of the extermination squads, only eight chosen warriors remained: Sub-Zero, Jax Briggs, Sonya Blade, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, and three fighters who were not involved prior to the invasion, Curtis Stryker, Kabal, and Nightwolf. Curtis Stryker was an American riot cop who worked the night of the invasion. Kabal, once a member of the Black Dragon organization, suffered severe beatings by the extermination squads, surviving only with the aid of an artificial respirator. Nightwolf was a Native American historian, and preserver of his people's traditions. He used the magic of his shaman to protect his tribe's sacred land during the invasion.
The Beginning of the End
Ermac, a life force that existed by the spirits of extinguished warriors of the past, joined the battles between Earth and the Outworld. By participating, Ermac proved his existence and intended to show the world his abilities. Scorpion was enlisted by Shao Kahn to aid his forces in the elimination of chosen warriors.
Jade was sent to capture Kitana and bring her back alive. She had to choose between betraying her long-time friend or her emperor. Reptile received instructions from Kahn to assassinate Kitana. Kahn promised him the resurrection of his race if he could succeed in this mission.
Mileena was brought back to life by her creator, Shang Tsung.
Rain was assigned to aid the Outworld forces against the Earth warriors.
Baraka served Kahn once again by helping out with the invasion.
Noob Saibot, having been a passive observer during many of the recent events, was ordered by Shinnok to join the extermination to gain the trust of Shao Kahn. As soon as he gained his trust, Noob Saibot turned on Kahn when the emperor let his guard down. Noob Saibot received orders from Shinnok to join the Earth warriors against Shao Kahn.
Sonya defeated Kano near Kahn's fortress.
Johnny Cage's soul was on its way to a higher place, but because of the merger of the Earth and Outworld realms allowed his soul to remain in the Earth realm. He returned to his body on Earth, to once again fight alongside his comrades, for the last time, or so he thought.
Shao Kahn saw his once-powerful army slowly crumble before him. He was strongly overpowered by Earth's forces and its new allies.
The Aftermath
The end of Shao Kahn's reign as the emperor of both the Outworld and Earth caused both realms to return to their original forms. The Outworld once again existed as the living planet known as Edenia.
Johnny Cage was free to move on to a higher existence in the heavens of reality.
The Lin Kuei clan was disbanded.
Queen Sindel remembers her past and took her rightful place ruling Edenia.
Jax and Sonya returned to the USA and formed the Outworld Investigation Agency. Sonya then went on a mission to capture the last surviving Black Dragon member, Jarek. Responsible for the death of millions, Reptile was banished to the Netherealm for committing genocide on many species. While in the Netherealm, Reptile became a general in Shinnok's Army of Darkness, along with Reiko.
Quan Chi made Scorpion an offer he could not refuse: his life, in exchange for his services as a warrior against the elder gods. Tanya, the daughter of Edenia's ambassador to new realms, invited refugees fleeing their own world into the safety of Edenia. Queen Sindel welcomed them into her realm but soon realized that one of them was none other than the fallen elder god, Shinnok, accompanied by his Army of Darkness, led by Quan Chi. The portal originated not from another living planet, but from the Netherealm itself. Quan Chi then held Princess Kitana captive. Hearing of the events, Liu Kang ventured into Edenia in hopes of rescuing her. Shinnok was ready to confront the elder gods once again. From Edenia, Shinnok waged a war on the true elder gods. Quan Chi lead Shinnok's Army of Darkness in the attack on the heavens. Reiko, believed to have been killed during this battle, soon resurfaced to return to his position as a general.
Raiden returned home to celebrate the victory over Shao Kahn, only to find his elders under attack. He became one of the last surviving gods of Earth.
The New Defenders of the Realm
Fujin, one of the few other surviving gods of Earth, joined the thunder god Raiden. Also known as the god of wind, Fujin was once one of the four elemental gods who guarded the amulet.
Liu Kang failed in his mission to free Kitana, so he returned home. He reunited with an old friend he had met in America a few years back, Kai. Kai was a former fellow member of the White Lotus Society, trained by great masters throughout Asia.
With the heavens in disarray, Johnny Cage observed these recent events from above. He asked Raiden to resurrect his deceased soul so he could fight alongside Liu Kang again, this time against Shinnok's forces.
Sonya continued to chase Jarek and eventually found herself in the middle of the war against Shinnok. She had to survive long enough to warn the American government. Jarek agreed to fight with her against Shinnok's forces. Jax headed after Sonya but eventually found out what Sonya's mission had led her into.
Sub-Zero again donned the Lin Kuei uniform once worn by his older brother and joined the attack against Shinnok's Army of Darkness. His late brother had defeated Shinnok years ago in the Netherealm, and the secrets from his brother were passed down to him, including the ones that may have held the key to Shinnok's destruction.
The destructive battles between Raiden and Shinnok were fought once again. It was possible for mortals to win, and only time would tell what other familiar faces would join the fray.
Finally, we have MK:DA. There it is folks, everything in the full. So, the story is complete.

To answer youre question, I just think MK1 fits perfectly with MKDA. Besides, I really dont think Lui Kang won MK2 3 and 4 in a row. But all the people that say that MK2 really counts have a good argument. Im gonna have to study my midway arcade treasures 2 realy closely and make up my mind, LOL.

Snake Eater youre wrong. You didnt study youre MKDA real well.
In one of the coffins it explains scorpions reasons against quan chi (the MK4 video) So there didnt have to be an MK4. See what I mean?

Laugh if you like. Doesn't matter. Assume that you're so much smarter than the poor, broken lunatic. Doesn't matter. But think about this: Your a dead thing, same as me. You died and were reborn...as this. What makes you and me different? Simple -- I remember what I saw when I was full and truly dead. You'd be mad too.

While every story in all of the various games may not be cannon, the MK Deception plot line would not be possible. Let me break it down. And if there are errors or things left out its only because im going on my memory because the comp that im on right now is to damn slow to take the time and patience to look it up.
MK Sub Zero Mythologies - Explains Shinnock, Quan Chi, the Elder Gods, the amulet that the DK now posseses in Deception that was also fought for in MK4
Mortal Kombat - the begining, Grandpa Shang Tsung gets his ass beat by Lui Kang
MK II - Shang Tsung convinces Shao Kahn to make him young again when he realizes that Social Security doesnt pay dick to beat down washed up sorcerers and also to trick earthrealm into another tournament so he can get a second chance at kicking some bruce lee wannabe ass. Unfortunately for Shang Tsung, Lui Kang was eating his wheaties and kicked Tsungs ass again.
This also introduces important storylines and characters that come up in Deadly Alliance (Kitana, Reptile as Plot Character...) and Deception (Baraka, Mileena...) Not to mention this also explained more about Sub Zero and Scorpions deal...
MK3/UMK3/MKT
Enter Sindel i.e. Shao Kahns dumb ass plan that backfired, the cyborgs(Cyrax couldnt exist without this in DA, not to mention the whole noob/smoke thing in Deception), and also Sub Zero's brother, Sub Zero (scarred). More is introduced but Im a lazy security guard with a slow as computer im not supposed to be on anyway so moving on...
MK4/ MK Gold
More buisiness about this amulet thingamajigger, and also this would be when Quan Chi gets banished to netherrealm. Also Scorpion realizes it wasnt Sub Zero that killed his family it was the two armed sorcerer Quan Chi, that dirty rat bastard.
So in summation, its all of these games and the key events that happened in them that fill in the blanks now in Deadly Alliance and later in Deception in some sort of way. How that happens to be we shall see in October...

but the only thing that gets me is the fact that in mk4 they say shinnok had that amulet created for himself to travel the realms or somethin like that. but in deception they say it was actually the dragon king's. how can shinnok make the amulet but the true power of it was for the dragon king in the first place. i think midway looked over this particular part of the story, creating a plot hole.
