Ok, we've had 6 video bios and 3 text bio released to us so far and we've learned some interesting things about who is allied/against who. I'd like this thread to be a place where we can discuss all of these sort of interpersonal developments because I haven't seen one yet.

I'm going to be updating this post as we learn more but for now I'm just going to post the nine character allies/foes we currently know (I'll also include their alignment):

Baraka
Place Of Origin: Outworld
Alignment: Evil
Allies: Shao Kahn, Deadly Alliance, Dragon King
Foes: Bo' Rai Cho
Bio: Baraka's Tarkatan race is a mutated hybrid of Netherrealm and Outworld species. A loyal warrior, Baraka faithfully serves his new master, the Dragon King, by preoccupying outworld opposition with his Tarkatan hordes, the backbone of the Dragon King's terrifying army.

Darrius
Place Of Origin: Realm Of Order
Alignment: Neutral
Allies: Havik
Foes: Hotaru
Bio: Leader of the resistance in the Realm of Order, Darrius lives a life in the shadows, his ambition is to overthrow the oppressive regime that strangles freedom. To some he is a hero... but to others he is nothing more than a terrorist.

Hotaru
Place Of Origin: Realm Of Order
Alignment: Neutral
Allies: Dragon King
Foes: Dairou, Sub-Zero, Darrius
Bio: A hero from the realm of Seido, Hotaru fights to preserve law and order. Although his initial soujorn to Outworld was to kombat the Emperor Shao Kahn, he has since allied with a ruler he believes will bring stability to the realms.

Jade
Place Of Origin: Edenia
Alignment: Good
Allies: Kitana, Sindel
Foes: Tanya, Mileena
Bio: Longtime ally of the Edenian crown, Jade witnessed the arrival of the Dragon King and raced to Edenia to informed her Queen of Kitana's fate. She arrived too late, however, for Tanya had already imprisoned Queen Sindel. She freed Sindel and the two escaped to Outworld.

Mileena
Place Of Origin: Outworld
Alignment: Evil
Allies: Baraka, Shao Kahn, Shang Tsung
Foes: Kitana
Bio: Created by the sorcerer Shang Tsung, Mileena has at last fulfilled her destiny as Kitana's successor by posing as the former princess. She misleads Kitana's military forces in an attempt to give the Dragon King the time he needs to complete his plans. Only Baraka knows the truth behind her deception.

Raiden
Place Of Origin: The Heavens
Alignment: Good
Allies: Liu Kang, Kung Lao
Foes: Quan Chi, Shang Tsung, Dragon King, Shinnok
Bio: As a last resort against the Dragon King's relentless advance, Raiden sacrificed himself by releasing his godlike essence and creating an intense ethereal blast in an effort to wipe out the enemy completely. The Dragon King was unaffected, however, and continues to threaten the realms.

Scorpion
Place Of Origin: Earthrealm
Alignment: Neutral
Allies: None
Foes: Quan Chi, Drahmin, Moloch, Sub-Zero
Bio: In his hast to confront his nemesis, Quan Chi, he was ambushed by two Oni and cast into a powerful Soulnado. He would surely have been torn apart by the souls trapped there had he not managed to escape into the Void.

Sindel
Place Of Origin: Edenia

Alignment: Good
Allies: Kitana, Jade
Foes: Shao Kahn, Tanya
Bio: A new threat has put Queen Sindel's realm of Edenia in peril. With the aid of her faithful ally, Jade, she will travel to Outworld to defeat the Dragon King and free her daught Kitana from his control.

Shujinko
Place Of Origin: Earthrealm
Alignment: Good
Allies: Damashi
Foes: Dragon King, Scorpion
Bio: Long before Liu Kang had won the Mortal Kombat tournament in Earthrealm, Shujinko had begun his quest to retrieve the Kamidogu for the Elder Gods. his journey took him to many realms where he met many experienced warriors.

Sub-Zero
Place Of Origin: Earthrealm
Alignment: Good
Allies: Smoke, Frost, Raiden
Foes: Quan Chi, Hotaru, Scorpion
Bio: While still in Outworld, the Lin Kuei Grand Master Sub Zero discovers his true heritage - the source of his mastery over cold. This discovery will aid him in the fight against the Dragon King's Tarkatan hordes.

Nitara was "evil" too, but she wasn't with the Deadly Alliance. She had her own thing going. I mean, what she wanted wasn't really evil either. She just wanted to set her realm free.

So she manipulated a few people to do it. Big deal.

Just looking at this you can already tell that Hotaru is not a popular guy. He's a foe of Sub-Zero (Good) and Darrius (Neutral). Now, there's been speculation that Hotaru is from the Realm of Order so that might partially explain his grudge with Darrius who is from the Realm of Order but seen by some as a terrorist. I'm anxious for us to get Hotaru's bio so we can determine of any of these grudges are one-sided.

Great thread. BTW we need some damn evil people. I just noticed now like all of them are good. Man bring in the bad guys. I hope we get a bio on Ashrah, Hotaru, and Noob next. ~Sticky this bug~

Pshh if I was Shujinko I would do my five point palm exploding heart technique on Scorpion. And everyone else.

Hey Bezou your right I forgot about the whole boss thing in Konquest. Scopion is totally going to be a boss for him. Maybe in the close end when Shujinko is older.

it looks bad for scorpion with two good characters out to get him. i mean with both sub-zero and shujinko having scorp on their foes list. he must of done something to make them mad and their might be even more people out to get scorpion too!

Well, Scorpion's neutrality has always made him a bit of a wild card. He's not in it for anything but revenge. If the Dragon King offered him Quan Chi on a stick, he'd probably kill all the other characters to get it. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Shujinko and Scorpion. Do you think it's possible that Scorps is one of the Bosses in Netherrealm?

I really want to see Hotaru's bio.

I also feel like these bios are pretty weaksauce. They remind me of the original MKDA bios on the site. Just a few sentences that didn't tell the full story. I can't wait to see the real ones, which we probably wont get till the guide comes out.

I was reading over Baraka and I noticed something. He's allied with Shao Kahn, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi and the Dragon King, but not Mileena. Isn't that strange?
Anyanka - I haven't listed the full bios, just the alignment, allies and foes. But you're right. They've been short paragraphs and there's probably a lot more to them.

Well, for his true heritage to spark up something with Scorpion at this stage would have to be a family relation to Quan Chi.

I'm also very interested in the Darrius/Havik relationship...especially discovering if Havik is "Skab" or not.

Back to topic....Im surprised Sektor was not listed in Sub-Zeros list. Or at least the tekunin.

I think Sektor will make the cut, his story had too much potential in MKTE.

queve - This is how I think it'll work. If Sektor's in (and it's not looking good) then Subz will definitely be in HIS foe list. I think Subbie has enough on his plate as it is. The Red Dragon wants to kill him, the Deadly Alliance wants to kill him, the Dragon King wants to kill him (if only 'cos he's alive and Dragon King hates that in other people), Sektor wants to kill him, Hotaru seemingly wants to kill him, Frost secretly wants to kill him, Scorpion apparently wants to kill him again. No wonder he changed his look to that of the Shredder. He's hoping no one will recognize him.

true sektor has a alot of potential but i dont think we will see him until mk7. my reasons r the fact that mk7 will probably take place on earth (as u said urself in another topic) and sektor did take over japan! so more then likely sektor will be a major player in the conflict on earth! that is also why i dont think we will see sonya and cyrax cause there dealing with sektors forces on earth!

Well, Kitana has at least been mentioned in several of the character bios so there currently seems to be a better chance for her than for Sektor. Of course, we've still got 16 bios to go, and Sektor may appear in one of them.

Very true. I think Sektor might had been canceled for deception, but its still too early to say this.

He could very well still be in the game.

Someone mentioned in another thread that it's interesting that Bo' Rai Cho is listed as Baraka's only foe. I, too am intrigued by this. Any thoughts?

Actually, from the full bios you can see that Mileena is posing as Kitana and Sindel thinks it's really Kitana under the control of the Dragon King. And we only have 9 bios so far!

The theme of deception runs deeply in this one.

Great thread, Bezou.

Darrius and Hotaru I think are foes simply because of their goals. Darrius is said to be fighting for freedom. Hotaru must be one of his oppressors who is trying to force Darrius and those with him to live under some sort of reign.

As I said in another thread, the neutral characters are renegades. They are the ones to watch as their actions will set a lot of events in motion and will help sway the battle in favour of good or evil. They are in it for themselves and no one else. They dont care who they kill.

Nitara was one of the better neutral characters. Her story involved many and she used deception and her cunning ways to manipulate others. She would be perfect in this games story and she and her people would be valuable allies.

Kenshis alignment was Unknown in MKDA. I believe he will serve as a neutral, but he'll turn on many. He only joined the Special Forces as they could get him closer to Shang Tsung. He is similar to Scorpion only he uses people to get what he wants. And he has some sense of loyalty about him.

Mileena and Tanyas issue will be the Edenian throne! They both want it. Both seem envious and jealous of Kitana and Mileena posing as her puts her one step ahead of the competition. for her, this is a great role. One which she'll want to keep at all costs. Even if it meant killing Baraka. There will most likely be a deception in there.

Jade is involved to save Sindel and Kitana. I dont think anything deceptive will be happening with her, but she might be tricked at some point. Shell also want Tanyas head!

Sindel wants her daughter! Thats all there is to it! Shell stop at nothing to get to her!

Sub-Zero finding his heritage will be good, but the effect of this is unknown. His heritage could be evil. Hes also going to fighting Barakas people and Baraka himself seems to be an ally to the Dragon King. Both of them will be ones to watch.

Shujinko having Scorpion as a foe is interesting. It seems he is unknown to Scorpion as Scorpion does not know of him on his foes list. This may mean that Shujinko has some sort of task or grudge and scorpion either stands in his way or is responsible for whatever happened.

As for Raiden, Im not sure what his deal will be. I just hope its good!

Great thoughts as always tgrant. My pet theory on the animosity Shujinko has for Scorpion is currently that he has to battle him in the Netherrealm. Of course, there's been speculation that every realm has two bosses so Shujinko disliking JUST Scorpion seems a little more out of place. Perhaps, like so many MKO users, Shujinko wants Scorpion to pick a side.

I would say that Sub-Zero and Scorpion are the ones to watch here, not only because it is a classic rivalry, but because we want to know why Sub-Zero is on Scorpion's foes list. After the events of MK4, the only possible reason why could be because Scorpion somehow found out that Sub-Zero tried to stand in the way of Scorpion's revenge upon Quan Chi. Scorpion is one of the most popular characters in the MK series, and if any MK fan knows Scorpion, which we all should by now, then he/she knows that Scorpion thinks that vengeance for the death of his clan and family is his and his alone, and if ANYONE tries to stand in his way, he'll kill them. After learning the truth straight from the horse's mouth, Scorpion made an oath to cease and desist all aggression towards Sub-Zero, as well as making it clear who his new target of revenge is. Now the big question is, if Sub-Zero were to stand in Scorpion's way and even try to take away his shot at revenge (which is very likely, considering Sub-Zero also lost a relative because of Quan Chi's treachery), would Scorpion stay true to his oath? Knowing his nature, probably not, but there's a small chance that Scorpion is aware that Sub-Zero lost his older brother because of Quan Chi, and if he chose to keep his oath, it would be a big surprise.

Also, we do not know what's in store for Scorpion as for his reason for crossing paths with the Elder Gods and whatnot. My theory right now is that Scorpion being hurled into the Soulnado is kinda similar to Sephiroth being thrown into the Lifestream by Cloud in FF7 through the Mako Reactor. Like the Lifestream, the Soulnado could contain boundless knowledge about the Realms, and like Sephiroth, Scorpion could've learned a shitload of stuff about the Realms that influenced his next decision. Here's the difference between the two; while Sephiroth planned to absorb every soul on the Planet using Meteor, Scorpion plans to seek vengeance on the Elder Gods for knowing the threat Quan Chi posed towards the Realms and not doing shit to stop him, and his clan and family were the unfortunate victims as a result of their neglegence. If I were any of the MK veterans, I wouldn't trust the Elder Gods, no matter whose side I'm on; even the good side.

I definitely agree that Sub-Zero and Scorpion are among the top characters to watch in this game. The revival of their rivalry would satisfy many people (and anger many others, I'm sure).

Looking back on the bios it's interesting to note that Sindel has Tanya listed as a foe, but not Mileena when it's been Mileena who has been trying to kill Kitana since MK2 and may be impersonating Kitana in MKD.

I think Sub-Zero's animosity with Hotaru may relate to his discovery of his "true heritage". Perhaps it has something to do with the Realm of Order. Perhaps this will also explain the rekindling of the feud with Scorpion.

Alright, let's look at this bit by bit.

Sub-Zero/Scorpion
All we really know right now is that there are three new characters that presumingly come from the Realm of Order. Darrius and Havik want Hotaru dead. Now with them being Neutral, I can only see them there following Hotaru or trying to get the Dragon King to destory the "Order" in the Realm of Order.

Now Sub-Zero wants Hotaru dead. This could be due to one of the following reasons. We know Sub-Zero has discovered his origon in this game. Now Subby's only got Hotaru on his hitlist. No Darrius or Havik mentioned (yet). This says that Sub-Zero may have something against the Order in the Realm of Order. Now this may be a bit of speculation on my part, but maybe the lack of hair on Darrius' part is intentional, as it is with Quan Chi. Maybe Subby's discovered he is supposed to be a part of this resistance against Hotaru (and/or his superiors). Maybe Hotaru's already struck a deal with the Dragon King? This instantly makes him Sub-Zero's enemy, which allows room for S-Zero's heritage to hit closer to home with Scorpion.

Maybe Subby's some kind of Orderrealm God that Darrius is trying to reinstate into power? Maybe S-Zero saved Quan Chi from Scorpion for information or for the Ammulet? Maybe Scorpion has been possessed by an Elder God, or he's been given orders to eliminate Sub-Zero for a chance to restore his family's lives and to face Quan Chi? My favourite is that Sub-Zero killed Quan Chi before Scorps could, though.

I was going to do one on the Edenian Throne thing, but I'll do that another time.
