Any way of selecting alternate colour, not alternate costume?

In same character games player 2 is a different colour if both are wearing the same outfit. Is there any way to select this alternate colour when you aren't facing the same character?

I'd certainly like to know the answer to this one too. I don't think there's a way of chosing the alternate colour first. The comp just does this automatically when 2 identical characters face each other.

I don't have the game yet but try too slect the char with diferent buttons or press more that one button at same time.

I have tried what I think is everything, I guess it just isn't in the game, never could select the other colour in previous MK games either.

yes you could change the color in mk4, and gold i think. just thought id add that.

I don't think that has helped me at all. Also I don't count ever think of MK4 when I think of MK. I have blotted it out of my mind.
