why not? He was an new character who didnt rip off any of the old ones, had a good story, and has a great look. Mortal Kombat never had a flame elemental.

MK might not have had a 'flame elemental', but it did have a 'flame guy' (i.e. Scorpion.) They may not look alike or have any of the same moves, but a fire person is a fire person and Scorpion will and always be the MK fire person!

Oh, and Blaze looks just like Inferno from KI. Just thought I'd point that out.

well something like a double lightsaber and he should fight like Darth Maul while keeping all of his fighting styles from Mk: Da.

I do believe that any returning characters should a overhaul in their fighting styles.
The 3 fighting styles rule should stay as is but if a better fighting style for that character can be added because there is three fighting styles and they are Cobra Kung fu Toad Kung fu and Scorpion Kung fu.

Cobra Kung fu and Toad Kung fu are good for Reptile or anyone that is reptilan in nature.

Scorpion Kung fu is good for Scorpion because Scorpion fights like a true Scorpion and would it be cool for Scorpion to pratice a real fighting style with His Name in.

Well, they could make it so that Blaze would recover his sanity after accomplishing his so-called mission (stated in his ending, didn't really understand what it was about though). Therefore, he would return to his normal self, as he was first intended to be, i.e., as it's shown in some drafts in the Krypt, he was supposed to be a human being with fire powers (along the lines of SF's Fei Long, but WAY more powerful). They could say that the Dragon King's holy men, upon finding him, decided to enhance his powers in order for him to be able to protect the Great Dragon's Egg agains everyone and everything.

About the weapon, it's a great idea, I personally prefer the staff one. They would make it so it would be different from Raiden's, like one of those Shaolin staffs with a pointy thing at the end. He would use it both as a staff and as a stabbing object.

It would also be awesome if they would give every single character a special move only possible with the weapon active, since it would channel the bearer's power through the weapon. Eg. Sub-Zero would charge his sword and by touching the enemy would freeze him, or Raiden (using some sort of iron staff) would push the staff into the opponent's stomach, giving him a powerful shock. In that case, they could give Blaze a flaming attack with his weapon. Cool, heh?
