I'm not sure if this would work with an MK game but maybe they should start incorporating branch off titles ok here's the deal
You know how street fighter has so many branch off titles and only 4 main stream titles
Branch off titles
--------------------------
(SF2::C/edition)
(SF2:Turbo)
(Hyper SF2)
(Super SF2)
(SF3 2nd Impact)
(SF3 3rd Strike)
(SF Alpha 1-2-3)
(SF EX) 1-2
Main Stream Titles
--------------------------
(SF1)
(SF2)
(SF3)
(SF4)
Tekken
-------------------------
(5)
(5)dark resurrection
Now what i find is that they benefit greatly with these branch off titles my Thought on this....
1st - It allows them to make more money (allowing for higher buget main stream games)
2nd - It Allows the developers to improve and learn from their past flaws whether that be adding parrys, cancels, reversals and what not
Developing branch off titles is more of an experiment with what works, what didn't work, what features/characters were praised which in turn allows them to incorporate all these praised features into a package and deliver it in their main stream titles
(Example: 1) In SF 2 turbo you may have enjoyed the enhancement in speed to the gameplay.
(Example: 2) In Super SF you may have not liked the music, gameplay, arenas, but liked 1 or more of the new characters introduced in turn allowing that character to be implemented into their main stream game and being 1 step closer to perfection
Do you think MK can benifit from true branch off titles (MK unchained) was more of a port (Your thoughts?) and thx for reading!

Good idea ,but it might be a bit too much work for the MK team don't you think? They weren't able to give every character a fatality due to timing or lazyness. If Midway/MK team can pull this off I would be hoping for a good outcome.

MK:DA - (MK: Tournament Edition)
MK:D - (MK : Unchanined)
MK3 - (ULT-MK3) - This was a true improvment over MK 3 (Arenas's, Characters
(MK Trilogy) - This was nothing but a combination of all previous characters, arenas and playable bosses not really a branch off title its merely a full package of previous games
MK 4 - (MK4 gold) - This was yes yet branched off a failure as it was
MKDA - (MKTE) - This was pathetic
MKD - ( MK:unchained) Yet again a port of previous characters
All in all Mk's branch of titles have been far from experimental but more of a money sucking machine

Absolutely. Preferably (and I know it will never happen) Midway should attempt to release the next MK game into arcades. Have it play tested to death and fix/improve the mistakes, bugs, glitches etc. before porting it to consoles. From there update it with patches and/or offer downloadable content via Xbox Live Marketplace or something similar to that.
That'd be what I'd do anyway. It'd create a far less broken and shitty game in theory anyway.

Yes, and no. I personally get confused and feel ripped off when I fork out money for one game, then another comes out that is pretty much the same only better.
I would not mind it if the MK Team went back and remade some games, however. Imagine Mortal Kombat 1 with Reptile as a selectable character, and new graphics? Apparently Ermac and Chameleon were both lurking in the shadows during the first tournament, so you can also have them hanging around. Maybe make The Great Kung Lao a secret character?
Mortal Kombat II, revised, would feature much of the same slight character improvements, including Blaze being in the game, seeing as he was seen in the background. Mortal Kombat 3 would take every human character in the arc, and make them playable, as theoretically, if they were able to help Earthrealm with their abilities, their souls would have been spared by Shao Kahn.
I also wonder what Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance would have been if it had included all the characters that the MK Team wanted (Fujin, Kai and maybe even Dairou), as well as Tanya and Baraka, who were apparently operatives of Shang Tsung and Quan Chi at this time. You could also include Sektor and Noob Saibot, who I believe were characters in Tournament Edition.
Yeah, it's all messy, but it would be much better than doing future branch-offs, I think. They could just release their previous games with updated rosters and story information in a single set, and make some money that way.
