Can we really trust what midway says about MKD?

Let all the lies begin. First off we have Boon telling us MKD will be the first 3D online game, LIE it looks as if DOA online is going to beat them to the punch by like a week. Then we are told about a total new fighting engine. Lie it's the same old engine just a couple of new tweaks here and there. Oh and MKD will be JUST for the PS2 and X-box. LIE we are getting it for the Game Cube now and it will have some things that the other systems won't have. Great now I have to go buy another version. The game will have many secrets some that you may not find for a long time to come,LIE the strat guide comes out earlier than the game. Shit the way this is going I would not be surprised if they delayed the game a couple of months. And took out Hari Kara's and the mini games. So where do we stand with Midway and Boon? Do we keep on putting our trust and money in there hands? I love MK but it's getting to the point where enough is enough. I like my stuff cut and dry. This is what our game is like, and this is what we are going to do, and not change are story every five seconds. Give a monkey a brain and he will swear he is the king of the universe. I can't trust anything about this game anymore. Or anything that the MK staff says about it. I can't trust them can you? DSB

I agree too. Why is it that people on this forum get so uptight whenever they hear or see something that changes? Just go with it, and be happy they are making another game for you to enjoy.

Well, when Deception was first announced, it would have been the first online fighting game. And then DOA:U release date was announced. So, that's not really a lie persay. More like something that was once fact, but changed over time. Since then, Boon has been saying that it will be the first online game for both Xbox, and PS2, which is true.

It has also been stated that the strategy guide will not feature everything in it. From what Boon said again, it will not have every character in it, every background, everything in konquest, and every other little secret in the game. So why buy it anyway? tongue

It is very common place for any developer to claim that something is brand new when it relates to gameplay. Only to find out when you play it, it's the exact same thing as the previous game(s), just with a few tweaks (see Showdown: Legends of wrestling). Besides, you played the game at E3, you should of known right there just how much it was going to change.

Sorry, but I had to reply to this.

1. Mortal Kombat Deception WAS going to be the first 3D online fighting game, because DOA was originally slated for a late October release but they brought it back to sometime in September. Midway can't help it if other games change their release dates.

2. It was NEVER said that MKD will have a totally new fighting engine. I don't know where you got this from. They have always said it was just revamped, which I have no problem with if they fix a few things.

3. This one is the funniest. Games are said to be exclusive to certain systems ALL the time but it doesn't hold true. Look at viewtiful Joe and others. You should be HAPPY about this one, because they are actually listening to the fans and bringing it to the Gamecube now. They did this for YOU.

4. You really think that the strategy guide is going to reveal everything? It won't reveal even half of what this game has to offer.

It seems pretty obvious to me there will be insane amounts of stuff to find, he has even said you won't find the super unlockables until way after you are done with the game.

On a side note, Dead or Alive Ultimate was slated to come out last summer, a year ago and it's only been delayed up until this point.

I never believe anything anyone says about anything until I have actually proof in my hand. It lessens disappointment and offers surprise. I made the mistake of feeling "betrayed" by Nintendo when Zelda: Wind Waker was released. It was a good game! It really was! It's art style sucked, though. Thankfully, Nintendo has rectified that, and, as with MK:DA, I think Midway has rectified their mistakes, but until I have the game running in my system, I can't make any assumptions, nor do I believe anything unless I have the proof before my eyes. Fatality.

It is begining to be a bit foolish about who is first, I know to them it is marketing, and more profits for being the first, but for the people who want a game they will wait another day. It doesnt mean that whichever game gets released will be the only one online. To me it isnt a big deal. You before said you loved the fighting system after your E3 experience, why suddenly has that shifted? It seems like you have been loosing interest, I dont know why. But your lack of faith is growing stronger, so just relax, it is MK!!! It doesnt matter what happends, there is something in this game to please everyone!!!!

Ok first I'll talk about the "first 3D online fighter" part. It's not the MK Teams fault that DOA got pushed forward. They didn't know how far along it was and shit happens. The new fighitng system could be there and thats because we haven't even played the game yet but those flashing lights under the healh bar (forgot what they do) but thats something we do know is new. The reason for the GC version is cause it could make then some money but the fact they get it around 4 or MORE months later...who gives a damn! Oh my they get 2 new features...we get the game so much quicker then them! Why would you actually but another version anyway? When they say you won't find out all the secrets for along time... well no shit if you read the strat guide you'll know everything! If you want to be suprised don't buy the strat guide and don't read spoilers! It's that simple. Even if the guide came out a week after the game uf you read it then there are no secrets. Man..I'm tired of the complaining people around here. The game isn't out so you can't talk about it's fighting system.

Well, I for one believe what most everyone else here has said. You just don't know till you play it. If your afraid you won't like it, you can simply rent it first. The most your out if five bucks. That would then make you an informed buyer. Do I believe that MK:D will be all that and a bag of chips....no. But that is my opinion based on the promises made for MD:DA that were never delivered. But again, we just won't know till we play it. As for the "exclusivity". I hate to tell you that it was never an "exclusive" to XBOX and PS2. Midway just thought they wouldn't make any money on us Cube owners. So they stated it wasn't for the Cube. Not that it was exclusive to the other two systems. I for one am happy it's coming to the system I own. I have a little more respect for Midway having listened to the fans once again. And you won't have to buy the GC version, I assure you we will get nothing super special at all. Prolly just a pallette swap of a character and no fatals. LOL. So stick w/ ur XBOX and PS2 and don't worry about it.

Well I am glad nobody else hates being lied to. But I am a little upset about all the junk I am hearing. I never said I did not like the fighting engine, I said it was supposed to be different. My faith is in check, my ass is out on a limb. So no matter what happens we will all, Buy it anyways. I just want it now. Right now to put all the rumors to bed. Thanks for all your replies. I still don't trust them. DSB
