There is an unlockable of some sort at the gate to it though. Meditate near it for awhile to find it.

I wouldn't be so quick to say no...there is always some possibilty. Just because no one has done it yet, does not mean that it's not possible.

i also remember a village in the earthrealm that i couldn't get into because two guards wouldn't let you get by. I can't locate that either

yeah, i don't understand why the door is locked, because there were a lot of things that i missed in that village. And the monk temple was one of them. Is there another way in?

At first I would have said no, but here is an interesting story for you and all those "can only get Kung Lao before beating Konquest" people.
I did not get Scorpions Alt Costume in the town and I left. Apon hearing it was in there I was pissed and thought I would have to start all over to get his costume again. However, I found it in a chest.
So items and things you miss will appear after you beat Konquest.
In addition to this I found a key in the Netherrealm which I have still not discovered what it does. Its not for the krypt and its obviously made for opening a door, but I already tried the locked doors I know, so I am alittle stuck on this.
I really need a walkthrough of some sort yet no one is providing it.

Thats not the case, I meditated through a full year just staring at the doors trying to see if they open. A hour or so later and some eye strain they didnt open.

^^ did u try to open the door or just sit and look at it?

i heard the gates open on the first day of november. but im not sure. i also heard this from something to do with raiden and his lost staff and crap. but try it out
