A general rule for game design is if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Revamping the fighting engine isn't an "approach," it was something done to fix the design flaws of the previous MK's! Everybody loves MK5, why change it? They should just make it better. Give us more of what we love. Maybe the next form of MK that MK6 will be people would like, but that's taking such a big risk!

yes but, "if it can be bettered, better it!" think about it, what if in tthe next one you could kick them off a platform and start fighting in a different platform, would you rather keep the old unbroken one then? or get ready for some new action!

Yeah, but revamping the fighting engine isn't making MK better, it's making MK different. There's a difference. Mortal Kombat was only changed to make it kick @$$, but since it already kicks @$$, then why change it?

So it isn't MKDA 1.5.... if they change it and it is better then there is nothing to cry about... I think that they will revamp it and make it better, but I don't think they will make it 100% different.. even MKDA had similarities to its previous games... later

I agree, bring back SEKTOR!
As for the fighting engine though I thought they nailed it this time. I'd like it kept basically as is although with a few changes to some characters, eg, give Drahmin a combo or 2 and change Nitara's special moves. I would also give Shang Tsung the morph back but just make it a random change only to save complicated moves for individual characters.

I think that MK:DA's engine was great and it's a great gameplay step in the right direction, but I'd like the gameplay to evolve even more. I have a good idea that can make the gameplay very deep and very distinctive per character.
Well, from what we've heard, there were some glitches and bugs in the engine they built for MKDA (some say the Stage Fatalities couldn't be included due to some glitch), so maybe they decided to start from scratch and build an engine without those glitches (they probably realised that those glitches wouldn't allow them to do other things they wanted, and being in Informatic Engineering, I understand that correcting some stuff may be harder and cause more mistakes than starting again and not doing those mistakes in the first place). Also, maybe the engine was too limited to what MKDA was able to do and would need too many changes and rebuilding to prepare them and, in that case, it would pay to build a new engine, with the support to everything they wanted...

Before MKDA came out and they announced the new system I was worried that it was gonna suck, but once I had the game in my hands and played it I realised that the new system is so much deeper and realistic than the old system. I mean don't get me wrong in it's time the old system was the best, but it's time has passed. I think the reason why the game sold so well was the new fighting system cause now adays gamers demand a deeper game, and thats what they got. If they are gonna throw the system out don't do it till MK7. Oh and Sektor I ain't flamin you or anything but you talk about getting tired of playin as the same characters over and over again. Well isn't that the case with all the MK games, but if you mean playing as the same ones over and over again cause of styles there is a simple solution for that. Go into practice mode and take time to learn someone else.

they could always improve the current standing gaming engine.
No need for a remake, just a re build. just edit it little bits....check the code libaries, implement some new areas of code. Make the engine that little more flexibile to allow extra abilities.

Yeah, that would be great, but I think they really need to make like a separate special engine for each character.
