I just thought I'd bring this up. In the hands of skilled/cheesy players (both online and offline), which characters just scare you the most? And which characters do you use to keep them in check?
For me, it's Nightwolf, Kobra, and Baraka. Raiden and Shujinko used to be two of them, until I started using Raiden, which I found useful for keeping good Shujinko players in check. Nightwolf, Baraka, and Kobra still pose threats against my Raiden, though. In death trap stages, Ermac and possibly Kenshi pose the biggest threats for me, if I'm not able to time my blocks correctly, though those two are still a bit more managable for me in stages without death traps. Here are my reasons why.
Raiden - a very fast teleporter, and a cheesy player would go in for a throw right afterwards. I used to see teleporters as crappy players, because when I was using Sindel a lot, I would still catch them with the Foot Grab and the Banshee Scream even after they teleported. Once I started using Raiden, however, I realized how useful it is. Raiden vs. Jade is a very interesting match if both players are good with teleporting. Just interesting to see both Raiden and Jade use their teleports at the same time and see who follows the teleport with a throw or combo more quickly. Based on my own experience with Jade vs. Raiden online, I would have to say Raiden's the faster teleporter, as I have followed my Raiden teleport with combos more quickly than the other person's Jade teleport when we both teleport at the same time. I found him a lot more useful in desperate situations in his Staff stance because of it's range, and when my opponent has one more hit to beat me, that's when I whip out my staff and start sweeping the hell out of him/her. Most online players have a tendency to expect more high attacks than low attacks, so they'll most likely overlook the possibility of low attacks and try and block high, myself being no exception. This makes low attacks a good defensive move, and the low attacks with Raiden's staff are an excellent way to turn the tide of any tough battle.
Shujinko - This guy used to be a headache for me in the hands of opponents who have unlocked all of his special moves. They seem to be mixing up all of his special moves. I tried using him, but got my ass kicked. I need more practice with his combo chains. Once I started using Raiden, though, like I said, Shujinko players became a little more managable. Then there's the Shujinko players who, like myself, like to use combos, and those people still remain a possible threat to me.
Nightwolf - Most skilled/cheesy Nightwolf players start the match with a Rhino Charge. If you think that's bad enough, they also follow up their throws with Lightning From Above. Every now and then, they'll use a Spirit Arrow. The mere fact that Nightwolf has his Reflection move is the whole reason I don't even bother using projectiles against him. Then again, I rarely ever use projectiles (unless you consider the Banshee Scream and Kiss of Death as projectiles). And these kind of Nightwolf players can be worse if they are good with combos. I played against a Nightwolf player in both Chess and Versus Kombat who was damn good at the above shit, but had a weak spot for combos, which I could exploit if I was lucky enough to dodge those special attacks. Kira, Sub-Zero, and Sindel are my best weapons to keep him in check.
Kobra - Cheap throws, punishing combo chains, knowing when to use the Tele-Punch, Windmill Kick juggles...has almost everything in the book to kick your ass. Kobra's been my biggest threat since I got this game, and he still is today. The only way I can even come close to beating a good Kobra player online is if I use death traps to my advantage. That's about the only thing I have to keep him in check.
Baraka - Punishes you for ANY failed attacks. Chop Chop Blades hit me even after I teleported. A good Baraka player will smack me with the Mutant Blades right after he or she blocks my attacks/combos, and the Mutant Blades are so fast that if done after blocking an attack, the opponent won't even have time to block this one. Once Baraka's in his Blades style, a skilled player will just go CRAZY on you. In my 2 win - 18 loss series of matches against TemperaryUserName, I was able to score one of those two wins by using Baraka against his Noob Smoke. I can't say I was as good as the Baraka players I went up against, but I was good enough with Baraka to beat an MKO Mod who kicked my ass 18 times. Later on, he admits to having the same weakness against Baraka players as I have. I'd have to say that good Baraka players are almost guaranteed victory, unless you can find ways to keep him in check. Based on my experience with using Baraka, I'd also have to say that he is the perfect character for beginners and experts alike, so long as you get his combo chains down, especially in his Blades style. Sub-Zero is my best choice for keeping him in check. His Ice Clone should keep him from going crazy on you...or at least try to, anyway.
Please list the characters that scare you the most, and if you want to, you can list why they scare the hell out of you, or even what tips you found to keep that character in check.

lol! I wasn't talking about appearance. I was talking about gameplay, combos, etc. in the hands of good/cheap players.

Well, let me just start by saying Bo Rai Cho's throw infinite is going to send me into anger management. Beyond that....
Honestly, although it's not very common, a skilled Ermac player can tear ass. About 90% of the Ermac users aren't worth a whole lot, but dear God, if someone knows his strategy(as well as some his brutal juggles), they're a force to be reckoned with. I'm pretty good with Ermac, but I still have some ways to go.
My second biggest threat is as stated above, Nightwolf. His combos, no matter how often they're pulled, are just not predictable like they are for other characters. If I play offensively, I get swallowed in his up-hit/down-hit combos, and if I keep my distance, I get a lightning bolt up my ass. Let's not forget how freakin' fast his shoulder charge comes out, although I'm pretty good at evading that now. Actually, I count on nightwolf users to pull off that move so I can punish them after they screw up.
Finally, I get scared as shit when someone uses Jade. If you mess up against her, the match is virtually over. She pulls off a third of your life bar likes it's nothing. If I go up against Jade, I tally my combo breakers. There won't be even one to spare.
The characters that don't bother me too much are Kobra and Baraka. My roommate's character is Kobra, so after about hundred off-line matches, I learned how to predict him. The only thing I still have trouble getting around is his crouch fireball(which online players are in love with).
All Baraka players play identical for the most part. They use the same blade combo, and the newbs try to suprise you with a blade charge at the beginning of the match. That aside, just play offensively but give your self some space. He has the best reach in the game, so if you leave yourself open, you're pretty fucked.

Thank God you only used Baraka a few times. grin He's a hell of a punisher.
PS: Your sindel was beating at my ass a lot as well. tongue

Hmmm, who scares me....
Well in the hands of the cheap:
Baraka - I hate his speed and reach when playing against n00bs who use the same moves over and over. You'd think then it'd be easy to counter them - knowing what will come next - but sometimes I just get caught by the overpowering cheese stench.
Nightwolf - His charge is very fast, and can be annoying as hell when used by n00bs, also lag time online seems to prevent me escaping the lighting blast quite often.
------------------------
In the hands of the good:
Noob-Smoke - Very confusing when they switch back and forth, plus have very damaging moves and combos. I find it hard to conserve my combo-breakers against good Noob-Smoke players, and once they're gone, oh dear...
Ermac - As Temp said, in the right hands he is deadly. Fortunately he IS hard to master, and so coming across expert Ermac players is rare. I have been practising w/ him since day one and I'm still no where near mastering him. Good combos and powerful moves, as well as excellent special moves - his main weakness I've found is his positioning. If you can attack and then retreat to a safe distance you stand chance of winning.
Liu Kang - FAST! Combos are excellent, with many ending in pop-ups to add to the damage. Reasonable special moves, low fireball can add an extra hit once you've knocked the opponent down. But has two major flaws; his attacks aren't too damaging and he needs to be in close range to do most damage. If you can get your range/positioning down, he is easy.
Those are the ones I fear coming up against...
