Laugh if you like. Doesn't matter. Assume that you're so much smarter than the poor, broken lunatic. Doesn't matter. But think about this: Your a dead thing, same as me. You died and were reborn...as this. What makes you and me different? Simple -- I remember what I saw when I was full and truly dead. You'd be mad too.

In the previous MK games, we've had to result to some tactics that have been preordained to be the only way to defeat most bosses/sub-bosses or the regular opponents themselves. For example, the eternal leg sweeping strategy, the crouching kick strategy, or the infamous jumping kick strategy. In addition to that, the often blocked and countered special moves and uppercut have somewhat been the downfall of the longevity of previous titles, whether its been due to frustation (countless broken controllers) or boredom (leg sweep, leg sweep, leg sweep, leg sweep,..............("is this over yet").......
In the most recent title, Deadly Alliance, in order to defeat the opponent in any difficulty past easy, you most likely had to make sure your block button finger was made of steel and utilize a small selection of block counter moves that again limited gameplay. God forbid if you mess up even slightly, because then you get a combo unleashed on you does more damage then if you were to do it. (Quan Chi had a lot of these.) That in addittion to the opponents special moves having no recovery time what so ever and being utilized in combos that not only would leave us confused thinking HOW THE FUCK IS THAT POSSIBLE, THE GUIDE BOOK DOESNT EVEN HAVE THAT AS A COMBO, but that also ends the match within seconds.
And now there is the addition of death traps/ring outs in Deception. Will these be so overly used by the AI to the point of the round starts, you blink and then find your self plummeting to your death, being flattened or eaten by clown fish(tee hee).
Now dont get me wrong, Im am in no way bashing the MK series past present or future. Mortal Kombat has always been my favorite fighting game(although Soul Calibur 2 has became a very, very close second favorite. That game kicks so much ass.) I just hope the cheese tactics can be laid to rest for good in the MK franchise and people wont have to result to cheat devises in order to enjoy the game to its fullest. But thats just one gamer's opion.

yeah i found a good amount of cheap tactics in deadly alliance....such as getting a 1,242 hit combo with johnny cage, i could have kept going but my finger got tired, but they helped cheapness by not letting it take away much health after about the tenth hit....scorpian had something like that too

It's a well known fact that end/sub bosses are immune to every form of projectile, nuclear missile, Britney Spears song, exploding god and combo imaginable.
Their only weakness is the ancient technique handed down from MK generation to MK generation since 1992:
Jumpkicks.

bezoo, or wotever ur name is, u seem 2 be addicted to tellin us u defeat people with the jumpkick..
The poster is asking if cheese tactics will be needed, not how you win matches all the time.
I reckon cheese tactics will be needed, as they do any game. The question is..how much?

And I'm saying they will be needed, because strategic fighting doesn't work on bosses.

WEll.. the ONLY way I could beat moloch was with Raiden's Stick double it move (Z in gamecube).. I HATED that!! i wanted a real fight... bu moloch was ridiculosly powerfull.. and he could regenerate too..
That's what makes me happy about a playable sub-boss.. U know it's gonna be challenging, but not imossible

i think the hardest i played deadly alliance was either just medium or hard. its been so long i dont even remember. the only person i had to use cheese moves on was moloch.
i hated that fucker, he caused me so much frustration when played deadly alliance. however, once i got passed him, i didnt feel like quan chi and shang tsung were nearly as difficult.
i mean, yes, ill admit, they both destroyed me over and over and over again, especially that fagget quan chi (just kidding, hes awesome). but i think moloch was such a piece of shit with his little moves that just crushed the shit out of you.
on the deadly alliance, i would just play normally and do whatever combo or moves i needed to take their health down. and yes, the block button helped alot, but theres always those combos that get through it anyway.
i think in deception, unless they have a cheap ass sub boss (which im hearing is noob-smoke, so who knows), you wont have to use to much cheese tactics to win.
but, in the end, how gratified does one feel after whooping the shit out of the ending characters. i used to feel so good after than.
anyway, the reason i forget is because i traded in a bunch of games, DA was one of them, to get the spiderman 2 game, which im not disappointed about, but if i had some cash id def. run out and get a used copy of DA...sorry for length, its late and im a blabbermouth piece of shit. haha

Yeah, with scorpion I always done 2 cheesy tactics.
ONE: Okay I spear the guy when he stops at me I backflip kick him then hell fire then spear then kick then hell fire. I was fun though. Took a while to get used too
TWO: With scorpions weapon he has the 3 hit pop up. Well i pop them up let their head touch the ground then pop up head touch pop up head touch over and over. That adds to the 3 hit combo

There's only one problem with that though. And this was my biggest complaint about Deadly Alliance besides 1 fatality bullshit was that they were practically puninshing you for pulling off juggle combos by only giving you so little damage percentage. A 10 hit juggle combo should be able to take a whole hell of a lot more 13 fucking percent

If you get into a long combo it stops taking so much damage and if you keep doing it it finally stops. It is to give the opp a chance.
I would like for all the moves to not take to much of an affect. That way we can have long hard fought matches. If I was the co creator I would of made it where falling from a height doesn't take any damage, so you can keep the strategy part of the game back into play. I like thinking over what I am gonna do to my opp. It is fun. On trilogy you could have it where you or your opp wouldn't take as much damage. Hell they didn't take enough damage when that was turned on. I could swear that I was playing against the same person for half an hour.
So on deception I want them to take damage I also want the strategy part to play a big big part in the game. That way I can kick my buds ass all over the place. Heh Heh.
What do you guys think?
Ps. My hands hurt

Heh, I found moloch pretty easy. All I did was hit him repeatedly and when he blocked and got ready to hit. I just backed away while blocking until he stop hitting and then I did it again and again. It was the easiest to beat him with Nitara and Kung Lao for me.

To answer the topics question, I assume some kind of skill will be needed, but i hope not, as I do not know how to play chess, I rule in checkers though.
Aside from that, they said Air attacks will have a role in this game, forgot where, but back in the early sages thats what was said.
Moloch was a easy sub-boss, I had flawless numerous times with Kung Lao by first power up and then using the weapon, he never really blocked that much!

with scorpian i would spear, than use hp, lk, lk, up and hk (if i rememebr) and then use the flame from the ground and repeat without the spear
and johnny cage i just took out the weapon and kept pressin one button while the guy was against the wall ...
nothing special, but just cheese tactics that i dont like to use , was just a test ....i swear...
