Has anyone here played manhunt if so is it worse than mortal kombat because due to a killing in my hometown of leicester in england manhunt has been banned. Now the UK have become very aware of video games being related to crime and im hoping they dont ban MK : D
Edit: I just read in the newspaper theyre trying to ban doom 3 in england, just to show how serious they are bout violent games!! Doom 3 is no way realistic, oh good god please no, is MK next?! sad
No way will MK: D be banned in the U.K like Manhunt.

A: Mantunt is 999999999x more gory and sick than MKD
and B: Manhunt is like real-life killings

The main reason towards Manhunts ban down here is it's realism in the killing's, MK: D Isn't realistic, no way will it be banned grin

I dont think MK will be banned in the UK. Manhunt was kinda realistic in a way, whereas the fatalities in MK are very outrageous and extreme, so I think theyll notice this.

manhunt was a great game, but a very violent one at best, there is a big difference between MK and Manhunt.

This shit about manhunt being the reason why this kid killed some other kid is bullshit and it’s pissing me off.

Q. If video games are so violent as the press are making out then why aren’t there more kids out murdering people because of these games.

A. because these games are NOT violent! There entertainment.

It’s got nothing to do with a GAME making a kid so sick in the head that he goes out and kill’s some one.
This kid was already sick in the head. This kid had a problem even before he picked up the game!

Everybody is blaming the video games, Music and the movies for the problems in society. When it’s society that’s fucked up, it’s society that has the problems.

If anybody wants to pint the finger of blame, I think you got to pint it in the direction of the kids parents.
I mean if they did a good job with him in the first place then maybe he wouldn’t have been sick in the head.
But noooo!, it’s the video games! It’s the video games that corrupting the minds of children!
Come on! Don’t talk bullshit.

I’ve played so many VIOLENT video games thru the years, the mortal kombats, the GTA’s, the Thrill Kill’s and so many more other titles. But yet, I don’t have thoughts of killing people, I don’t wanna cut people up.

This whole thing is bullshit. If you was to intentionally bang your head against a wall, you wouldn’t blame the wall would you? So come on. Be realistic.

Plus MK:D won’t be banned.

Ya thats always botherd me aswell, its so stupid. I really dont think it desencitizes any1 because i play violet games alot and when i see sum break there leg or sumthing it still grosses me out. There's a difference between a video game and reality and any sane person knows this. Really the parents r to blame, why r these young kids playing these mature rated games anyway, do the parents not know how to control there kids. And if ur child is so sick that he decides to kill sum one because of what he saw on a video game then he's was sick before he even played that game and should have gotten help along time ago.wow

I really don't want to turn this into a thread about censorship, and if you've read my opinions on this before, you'll know that i pretty much think it's bullshit too...
However - the impact of violent movies/games ect can't be completely dismissed (My opinions have slightly changed recently).

"These games are NOT violent! There entertainment."
No, they're both. They're violent entertainment in fact. Pulling somebody's organs from they're chest, or stomping on somebody's head causing it to explode is the epitomy of violence. If that isn't violent, nothing is.

"This kid was already sick in the head"
Yes, he was. But not many people just wake up one day and randomly decide to slaughter people, it usually takes something to push them over the edge, or convince them to do so. It could be that they get hassled and harrased at school, it could be that they are brainwashed into thinking it's correct by a religeous leader, yes, but it also could be because they're just pissed off and were inspired by a videogame to take revenge on everybody. Sure nobody can prove that it was 'Doom' or 'Mortal Kombat' that pushed them over the edge, but nobody can disprove it either.

I've also played many violent videogames through the years, and i don't feel like killing anybody aside form the odd politician (but who doesn't?) and i'm pretty sure i won't. And neither will you. Or the people that read this. But it only takes one unbalanced person to listen to a song or play a game involving bombing things to become inspired and knock down a building or two.

To be honest though, i don't know why videogames are so put upon by society. Movies and music are far more likely to make people kill in my opinion.
Anyway, what i'm basicly saying is i think we all have to face up to the fact that games like mortal kombat and manhunt ARE violent, and yes it MAY make unbalanced people kill. Thats no reason to ban them however.

(Manhunt was banned here too so i'm also a little concerned abot MK:D but i keep telling myself that if MK:DA wasn't banned here then MK:D should't be either...here's hoping)

I hope it won't. The entire situation is ridiculous. I haven't played Manhunt but to say that the game is responsible for this persons murder act is stupid.

MKd should not be banned because of this! It had better not!

this whole deal with manhunt is really pissing me off at the moment its just being used as a scapegoat, they kid should have never had the game in the first place as he wasnt 18.but yeah they havent banned manhunt its just dixons trying to get free publicaty by getting mentioned everytime the story gets gets told on the news etc because they are still selling it in my town.if they kid cant tell the difference between relity and video game then he should never have been playing video games, the other problem is that most people wont go with the fact that video games have gone from being a childs toy to a proper from of entertianment and that alot of games are aimed at adults.plus why let one messed up kid ruin it for everyone else who doesnt go around and kill their friends.

no way is mk any thing like manhunt. manhunt was realistic beacuse you would kill by by putting a plastic bag on some ones head or u would kill someone by stabbing them with a glass shard. but mk is not that realistic. and i dont think it will get banned
DOOM 3!? This is rediculous, just cause' they have no decent reason's about the killing's down here they just come up with the classic "Violent videogame's caused this". For fuck sake, the games industry is already shit in the U.K, they can't make it even more shit than it already is surely?
