Seeing a the new Konquest will allow you to build your own character to an extent, I was wondering what everybody wants their create-a-monk to be like. I've broken it down to a set of questions:

1. Name: what would you name them?

2. Appearence: PSM said you'd have some control over your character's outfit, and they age. What would you like your guy to look like ideally?

3. Stances: What two basic stances do you want?

4. Weapon Stance: What weapon stance? (or just another hand-to-hand one.)

5. Speacial Moves: What specials, assuming you get 3-4?

6. Fatalities: 2 Fatalities you'd like.

I'll go first. Keep in mind this speculitive:

1. Name: haven't decided yet. Need more info on appearence.

2. Appearence: I hope they have the outfit accessories to make a generic MK ninja. If not I'm going for the old asian master look, perferablly with a Fu Manchu mustache/beard. With either look I'd like metal gloves.

3. Stances: Drahmin's Netherealm for one(hence the metal gloves). The other I'd like a martial arts style that revolves around short, quick combos that juggle well.

4. Weapon Stance: Either Shang Tsung's Sword, Reptile's Sword, Or Nightwolf's hatchet if he has it and it doesn't suck.

5. Special Moves: A projectile, a teleport, a quick move that repels enemies, and a dash.

6. Fatalities: I'm going to try to stick with generic ones here, rather than rip off trademark ones. Unless Quan Chi's beat-them-to-death-with-their-own-leg is availablegrin

How would you like your character to be?

I honestly think, out of all aspects of the game, this is probably going to be the one that captures the most grief. Very rarely do companies hit the "create your own [anything]" right on the head.

IF I had my wish, I'd probably want it to be a very indepth creation process. Starting with a physical presence, at the very least the ability to change the wardrobe colors.

As for the movements, to keep things simple, they should have a list of all available fighting styles in the game, and allow you to compose them as you see fit. Same with weapon choice.

Giving you the ability to create your own character's bio would be a great user driven idea. With all the fan fiction out there, I can see this aiding to the online experience greatly.

Last, but not least, Fatalities. I'm not entirely sure how they're going to pull this one off, but it'd be nice to be able to select which fatalities out of the game you could use, but most likely, I have a bad feeling, that this self-created character won't have one. We'll see, but it's a good idea in general.

I think there will be a list of different original fatalities to choose from. And differnt lists with more violent fatalities. Like if you earn so many points you could unlock the level 5 fatalities.

I really can't see myslef using a "create-a-character" in a MK game,a rather horrid game (fighter maker) comes to mind, but if this goes well then I would.....

1.Be a definite dark Outworld charcter
2.if clothing option avail,a dark hoodie would be choice(like noobs alt/mk4)
3.Stances,grappling,jeet kun do,weapon=Scythe
4.moves,telekenesis slam,teleport punch,kick towards tv screen roundhouse
5.Fatalities wouldnt matter,i'll take what comes.

Interesting concept on the unlockable finishing moves... But I don't think they're going to invest that much time in self-build characters. It seems more worth while to pack the built in characters with as many things as possible, and give the self-build as little as possible, in the sake of uniqueness.

I like that idea though, disc space willing, it'd be a dream come true.

What are you talking about? It'll work if you put good time in it. Look at wrestling games, which actually started the whole "create-a-" anything mode. Possibly the most in-depth create mode ever invented. Do I think it'll be THAT deep....only time will tell. Also, all those football games, especially Madden have good create modes. Don't jump to conclusions. If people do complain about it, it's because they couldn't make their characters look like ninja's.

Eh, don't get so defensive, it's only my oppinion. The possibility of the character creation process being super indepth is not likely. Granted, some games can pull it off, I particularly liked tiger woods, but they also have a large demand with it. Online fighting games are a new breed, at least in the dedicated sense, and there's bound to be room for MUCH improvement.

If you want a good example on how a poor developed character creation process can be on the first go around, take a look at Planetside or Phantasy Star Online. Fun games, no doubt, but limited in just that one aspect of character creation.

Out of curiosity, how many Midway games have this option, to create your own [anything]? I'd like to see how they've progressed.

Name: Obelis Asrizen.
Appearance: I'll have to see what's available.
Fighting Styles: Hapkido & Karate (own styles).
Weapon: Raiden's Staff.
Speacial Moves: Scorpion's Spear and... I'll have to see what the rest are.
Fatalities: Shinnok's Hand from Hell & Quan Chi's Leg Beatdown.

If there is a character that I wanted in the game, that isn't in the game, I will probably make him. Like for an example, Rain.

1. Name: Pele

2. Appearence: Female, red hair. Black body-suit with red trim (Not a Endenian 'swimsuit'). Athletic and tall. Mid to late twenties. Note: Look at my avatar for a hint.

3. Stances: Not too familiar with actual fighting styles (outside of MK) so I would need to limit this to one that is obviously offensive and the other mainly defensive.

4. Weapon Stance: One suited for a spear. Note: The spear can be used like Raiden's staff, but can also stab and/or impale.

5. Speacial Moves: Rain of fire, fireball, flaming flying kick.

6. Fatalities: Small volcano erupts at the feet of the loser, Spontanious Combustion

Note: This is assuming that Midway is able to give us an extreme amount of leeway in character creation.

Hmm. I don't expect the create mode to be this flexible but, aside from making characters that look more or less like myself, my friends and family, i'd be making hot chicks wearing stuff like pvc catsuits and stilleto thigh boots. Not too keen on the whole aging thing in this case: 80 year old women don't look too good in that stuff. wink

Style? Kick boxing/ boxing/ tkd type (no silly stances), balanced hand and leg techniques with some vicious nijitsu type gouges and stuff with the hands, and some REALLY vicious stabbing kicks with the killer heels . Weapon? Maybe a knife (under seige stylee) or a Sword- sort of thing raphael in SC uses. Fatality? Garrotte wire. tongue

More likely you'll be restricted to making monks. In this case i'll go for an evil pasty monk in a black monk outfit. Weapon? Lightsaber!

I'm not sure what I want my character to be like as of yet, I'll have to see what they give the player to work with. I have a few idea, but I'll just say one word. NINJA! furious >_>;;
