Okay we know that we will be able to customize our 3 fighting styles. That's good and all. They said something about the specials as well. So I'm really concerned about 2 things:
1. Fatalities
2. You start out as a young boy (so far NO female custom char... unfortunately) and grow up to be an old dude. That is all good but what about being able to have a unique appearance! I mean it is a fighting game but one of the things I most love about RPGs and games with a Create-A-Character (like the Wrestling games) are being able to create a bad ass LOOKING character to inspire awe and fear into my opponent as beat them into a bloody pulp. Playing Mortal Kombat using a generic 60 year old dude just seems kind of... I dunno... dissappointing?? I REALLY wish you could get more options like gender, races (human, cyber-ninja, spectre, or even a few others like the vampires or shokans), and how about COSTUME designs like being able to have your char. wear a shredder-esque helmet like the new Sub-Zero design only being able to change the colors on it to make you look more original. I myself would use a Black & red color scheme but would otherwise look like a blend between Scorpion and Sub-Zero... but still I would like to see more options for appearance here.
Online Kombat won't be all that great if you can't see an image of you and everyone else's char and be like "Oh yeah that's (insert your "name" here)'s char."

Anyone else have some thoughts/concerns about this mode??

I'm hoping that this is one of things addressed at E3.

In the German mag... ( I think.. many interviews these days.) They said customizing looks was very limited... And if my bad german didn't decept me, absent.

This is something that I'm also a bit worried about. One ray of hope here though came out of that rather large PSM preview a while back. If I'm not mistaken, Boon said that there would be "tons" of items to find that you can use to customize your character's appearance. Kind of like Virtua Fighter 4's idea, only the items would be more useful appearance-wise than strapping a koala bear to your back.

That said, I'm still a bit disappointed that you can't custome races, gender, and the overall look of your character. If I find a ninja costume or something like that, great, but what if I want my character to be reptillian, or caucasian, or a cyber ninja (as previously stated). Obviously there are tons of other aspects here. How big do I want my characters nose to be? Should his eyes be blue, completely black, red, white etc? Small things like that would really add a personal touch to your character. But it looks like we'll be waiting until MK7 for that stuff, which I have a strong feeling they'll address.

My main fear is that everyone will be taking the same old man online. Similar clothing, but different moves, and the exact same appearance. That seems kinda lame to me. Hopefully, the "tons" of stuff that you can find to alter your characters appearance will be enough to make everyone's character unique and their own. This is a huge part of the game, much more so than mini games and even the value added by the arenas. If Konquest is done well, and provides a satisfying experience, it can make the game infinitely better, providing endless amounts of replay value and a new option never before seen in a fighting game. That praise, I feel, can be very dependent on how much of a connection each player feels with this basic konquest character. If the customizability is absent, as someone stated already, or if Boon and co decided to leave the items and what not out of the game to to time constraints or whatever, I have a feelint that the konquest experience will be significantly hindered. If everyone has the same looking character, only different moves, then the desire to play through konquest will be lessened, and I think that the game as a whole will suffer.

So far it looks like konquest will have a lot of hidden stuff like characters and what not, and things to unlock for the main game. That's great and all, but if they take the customizability of the character out of the game, I'll be pissed, and I think a lot of MK fans will be pissed as well.

It was the interviewer and/or text under a photo that stated you started out as a boy. Boon said you started out as a 'kid.' I hoping he's meaning a kid in the boy OR girl sense.

hopefully this will be adressed at E3.... it would be very easy for them to make an apearence customizable character many old games and present games do pretty well with custom characters.... it would be a shame if it is limited or non existent... and imo make the custom character in konquest rather pointless.... sure you can give him 3 styles that much we know and that is good... but if thats all and he's going to look very generic than it is still a waste... hopefully they will have put some effort into custom charactesr... find out at e3....

the thing i am worried about the most is that you can only create ONE character. I wanted to make rain, jade, reppy ninja, ect ,but with only one character, i have to chose one. and if their is no females, other races, or good apperance selection, all of those characters will be inpossible to make

first thing i think people will complane about when the game is released is this sad

My concerns are about the fatalities. You can't create one. The other problem is that is a variety of weapon styles in the game. I would've wanted a really awesome weapon. Everything else is cool.
