I am a big Shang Sung Fan, I wathed the show (konquest) and really liked his charecter, I liked him in the games to, but i'm a ninja man, anyway, I never did his morphies cause I was never good with him, But I used to love watching people that were and the rumor that you could freeze some body to bring up finisher and turn into scorpion and melt them (which was bull, but a cool concept)
Do you miss the morphing? I do

Yes, I do miss it. It was great to work people over with Shang. Morph into someone like Sub, and kick em witha combo, and go back and work em over with Shang. He was a real wild card, especially in MK2 since that was the first time we could play as him.
That being said. This barely touches on Deception. The only time it touches down on it is when ErmacRain said he saw Shang int he Deception video. Please repost this in the Classic MK forum.

I dont miss it, I hope it never comes back, Im content with just knowing its something he can do but that he doesnt neccessarily have to do in gameplay.
Hopefully he gets his morphing back, and not that imitation shit that Shinnok had. It shouldn't be too hard to replace a character model with another, maybe Noob-Smoke is a test for this.

I'm kind of 50/50 on it. I do miss the screwing with your opponents heads by turning into their worst nightmare. But I don't miss having to memorize extra moves to turn into those afformentioned characters.

I really really really really miss it. Since I think he is superunlockable, I really really really hope that they stick to their word by giving characters their signature moves back and give him back his morphs. We will see (crosses fingers)

He hasn't 'lost' the ability - he could morph in the GBA MKDA games, and did so in the MKDA intro movie, just not in the game.
Dead or not, I believe he's just sitting this one out until Midway can perfect realistic morphing in 3D so we can use him like he was designed to be used.
Being dead is just an excuse to shut the fans up (I believe), especially since these days chars die in one game only to return in time. Liu Kangs was the shortest 'death', but at least in his case it appears not to have been such a throw away idea because it may have after effects which could last a LONG time...
Peace!

They took it off becacause of loading times. Now that they use cds (dvd's) they have to load the characters before they can fight. Anyone remember playing as shang sung in playstation's mk trilogy? and that was only 2d model. If they where using carts it would be possible but with cd's loading time is to much.

Regarding MK Trilogy, there was an option to turn it OFF if you couldn't stand the loading times - which were admittedly a pain in the butt!
Better still, you had the option to set it so you could only morph into the opponent (which is already loaded in memory). There was NO loading times when this option was ON but was kinda redundant because you still needed to learn all the different morphs since you could only use a single one each fight!
Perhaps we could have 'opponent cloning' again, but maybe this time we could have to remember only a single move that does this. Then it would be used more (particularly by novices or expert gamers who can figure a strategy for this), and so would be easier and better.
Also, when he has about 20 different morphing moves, it's frustrating to randomly change characters in the middle of trying to pull off a combo - this would be eliminated if there was only a single move which could be predicted and roped into the combo.
Peace!

taking off his morphing was a big mistake in my eyes its kinda like taking sub-zero's freeze and scorpion's spear. they took what defined the character.Glasses glasses
