Before Mortal Kombat became a 3D look, They actually scaned real people to play the parts of the characters. This made the game look real cool. Now the game has more of an animated look to it now. How many of you would prefer the realism look or the fantasy look for Mortal Kombat Deception.
I think that the game should look 3D but with real looking people in it. That is what made mortal kombat different from all the other games like Street Figher. The game characters looked real. And I think they should of done this for Deception to make it look awesome. Just imagine, Real 3D characters with real looking fatalities.
Let me know what you think.

It would be very interesting to see real people in a 3d backround but im not sure how they would do to. But personally i prefer the animated look. BTW good luck in our match in the fatality tounament.

I personally dug the old school look, but since I prefer the movement of 3D, I wish they somehow put a realistic scan over a 3D frame. I'm not sure if any other games have done that or do that right now, but I think it would go a long way in helping the graphics look a little less rubbery and cartoony.

actually, that kind of technology is possible today. all they have to do is take multiple still pictures of actual people and graph them onto a 3-D wire frame. the downside, however, is that it would get too expensive, as they would then have to get an actual clothes designer to knit the clothes that the actors would wear. and thats not including the alternate uniforms for the fighters. can you imagine how much it would cost to design a replica of Sub-Zero's uniform? it's not cheap. plus theres the fact that they have to actually hire people to take the pictures of. (not everyone can look like Daniel and Carlos Pesina
) so in closing, it would be relitively easy on the game designers to just snap pictures and graph them onto a wire-frame image using a computer rather than doing it all by hand but in the end i guess it all just gets too complicated and expensive.
ummm my tounge is longer than many people, and i can lick my elbows.
sorry had to tell you that, i think the guy frm KISS and the undertaker form wrestling can too.
LOL, peace out. back on subj. the MK3 look especailly styker didnt look anything cartoony it looked real and the streets and the graveyard level looked real.
and cartoony looking is baraka from MK:D man does he look rubbery as hell.
they making there heads too big and suchh, thats probably why they look so cartoony.

You say it is possible but it will be too expensive. But imagine how much money they would invest because just about everyone would most likely buy the game if it looked real and 3D.

Most people aren't that worried about the graphics they look fine as they are yea it'd be cool if they had 3D fighting game with real looking people but that wouldn't make me like the game if they went for the real look again fans would buy it and people who aren't fans would stick to their VF and their Tekkens
No way. In my opinion the more cartoony style is nice. Not overly cartoon, just more like characters you would see in a comic book. I like it.
Many fans would walk in my opinion if they decided to go for full on model realism, which is probably why they aren't doing it.

I am disgusted with the cartoony look! It's about time someone else agrees with me that MK needs to look more realistic.

That's what made Mortal Kombat different then any other fighting games was the realism.

I think you are putting the expensive part on the wrong thing. What you are telling is what they already do in games, but mostly with faces only. But in those games you can also see how flat it all actually is. That is why they don't do that with mk, it would look very bad then. Only good way to get it is to pump up the poly count for more detail. I've seen a screenshot for the next gen playstation and that one comes very close to realistic people without the use of scanning the people. So maybe that's for the next gen.

I think its time to bring back 2-d peroid i dont care about mk trying to keep up with the 3-d games mk belongs in 2-d mk doesnt seem right in 3-d.
I don't think it's the textures so much as it is the proportions of the character models. All the characters are real wide and thick all over. All they have to do is stop exaggerating the muscles and make the people taller. It won't cost anything. And yes, I do think they should change that.

well i dont think they should scan real people, prolly cuz of the 3d backgrounds, but i do think the graphics in DA were to cartoony and should look more realistic.

maybe they can use some HD cameras and capture the faces?
Also anyone play the new Ninja Turtles game? Maybe a cell shaded pesuedo 3-d route could work.
I really don't mind the current look, just I wished the fighters could look a little more different and have different scales to them (like height).

I hope they never make videogame characters look like real people, that wouldn't be nice, I prefer the fantasy look
