I believe that Reptile is in fact the Dragon King and here is why. Shinjuko says that he was responsible for releasing him so I think that the amulet he was searching for during Konquest is the key. Reptile confronts him during his own wonderings in Outworld and steals the amulet. He goes to the Incubation Chamber and the amulet interracts with the egg. Shinjuko arrives too late and when Reptile is hit by a beam of light from the egg it changes him. Reptile's body is twisted and transformed and the ancient mind of the Dragon King takes over. Raiden knows well of the amulet but when Shinjuko tries to find him he thinks he is dead after finding his body in the ruined palace of the sorcerers. Shinjuko will have to track down the Dragon King and steal the amulet from him.

well, how does Quan chi have the amulet then?

In the intro vid?

Plus, I dont think this would work, seeing as how there was already an embryo in the egg, I dont think he'd need to use someones body

The thing in the egg wasn't the Dragon King. It was the last great dragon, whose blood he had to drink to become immortal.

Then Reptile came along and adopted it. So Onaga has to go to plan B, ruling the universe with Shinnok's/Quan Chi's/his amulet.

it depends if you believe the ending or not.. i believe he is the dragon king untill i see otherwise and see him playable in the game... why would they not put reptile in the game hes one of the most popular top 5 characters of all time.. no matter what you say... its apparent he is the DK

Yeah and he's one of the few characters to be in almost every MK game.

MK1 - Secret, unplayable
MK2 - Playable
MKU3/Trilogy - Playable
MK4/Gold - Playable
MKDA - Secret, playable

Well, maybe the DK is using reptile's body to perform something...i suppose
I am CERTAIN reptile is the dragon King. Why else would they have had the ending in D.A. that points so clearly to that, WHy else would reptile be MIA in deception? Reptile gets hits with the beam transforms yada yada, and it says the dragon king had returned. Theres no way he isn't.

I'm certainly not certain. wink I'm only certain about what I know to be true. And so are the rest of you. Because if you're certain without proof, you're not thinking clearly about it. Reptile may be the Dragon King. Reptile may not be. Until we get the game, we won't know.
