Not me! I think the answer is obvious if some of you have been paying attention. Although I did place second and won a $75 gift card to Electronics Botique!

The winner took home a GameCube! And third place got $50.

The tourney started off with 10 players in a round robin match, with the top 8 going into single elimination best of 3. About half way through, two kids left (who even knows why they were there) so everyone else basically got a first round buy.

The final round came down to me and the man. We've played each other quite a bit recently and I knew there was a chance I could win, but he picked Bo Rai Cho and did his infinate while playing very defensivly, and won 2-0.

I'm not going to complain about the infinate, but I wanted an Xbox! oh well..... Congrats to the winner!

Thanks Jay, I hope there are no hard feeling about the cheapness. Lets play again soon, I hope that MKDA tournaments keep popping up for us hardcore MK fans...
That's why I would like to see the infinites get banned, not fun or fair at all.
I'm sure the end result would have been the same, but I know you would have won a few rounds, if not a match...instead of six to zero
Didn't want to take any chances... The platinum GCN was too bling bling for me. I wanted to win the fastest and easiest way possible.

No prob Ray,
Thats why I picked Sonya. If I would have gotten in close to you, I would have taken you out with Tae Kwon Doe's impossible mix ups. But you kept using the puke to keep distance.

it's true, sonya has no range attacks so I can puke all day and mix up taunts and stomps.

all i needed to do was stay ahead and wait for you to make ONE mistake

you did better with scorpion, that match was much closer...

I think kenshi would have been a good choice, because I have to puke more conservatively for fear of getting TK throw and taunt...plus kenshi can kill with two combos.

well, if there is a tourney in Oklahoma i'll go for sure. and if i do, i'll be playing Raiden, of course. his Staff may be cheap, but it's powerful.

his staff is one of the better weapons, but its not cheap, very predictable in high level play.

the death of the arcade has hurt some of the fun factor of MK to be sure. I think an organized tournament structure could peak some interest, and possibly cause a resurgence for MKDA. I have been having alot of fun playing again, and hopefully more people will seek me out to actually play me. Playing with mr. Schmpft has been fun, and I've played more MK in the past two weeks than I have in months! You people out there don't be intimidated by the better players, you get better by playing against better players. Although some people are just unbeatable, that doesn't mean you can't beat other people.

I'd say MKDA, but when Mortal Kombat 6 is out I'll be out of college. And we are not having any MK5.org sponsered tournaments if I can't go tongue

pretty good idea Scott. hope it pans out.
the way i see it though, the main reason why people won't travel X miles to participate in a tourney is neither money nor time, but, well..publicity and credibility. what i mean by that is that the tourneys we've had so far have been small local ones, not so well organized, not publisized enough and not credible enough. for example i might travel to Texas and win, just for the sake of argument, the tourney there, but really, who would know about it and who would really admit that i was the champion? aside from a small community of devoted MKers, not that many ppl. so what we really need is someone with a lot of money and a lot of credibility, as far as MK is concerned, to stand up and organize some official tournament with some really big prize and, call me crazy, why not a real, authentic, MKDA championship belt of some sort. naturally, the only one that could pull off such a feat is none other than Midway. it could start off locally and the local winners could be transported to Midway's headquarters in Chicago, all bills paid of course, where the finals could be held.

Raidenwins, I have brought this up before. It's a great idea, but there is a sizeable risk involved. I think that the local tourneys need to become more common place and frequent. 12 players at TiT is not enough to get marketing excited by any means. The local EB tourney altough fun, did not draw the type of competition I have been craving for so long either.

I think for right now this one is up to the fans to organize. When you get wind of a tourney go and suport. If two hundred people would have shown up at TiT it would be taken more seriously. Prize support and a trophy and title are all important. The tournaments can be self sustaining by charging an entry fee, and dividing the proceeds among the top three.

The prize support for the EB games tornament series was awesome. Everyone that entered got a free MKDA t-shirt, supplied by Midway. The winner received a home system of their choice second place got $75 gift card and third received $50. So it was worth it for all the players that decided to go.

I still haven't found out what the prize support for TiT was. To be honest I'm glad I didn't go. I would have spent alot of time and resources to go, with minimal reward. Plus I had alot of fun, right here in Chi-Town...

just bumping to the top, you guys need to read my last comment...support MK guys

You want an MKDA tournament?
Organize and support your local tourneys
see if igames.net will do it.
if tons of people would have shown up to TIT...with good prizes...who knows what could happen...a tournament campaign sponsored by Midway needs to have the proper support. If only twelve people show up it's not worth it...

organize, support!!! scream, shout, bombard Midway with messages that MK fans want a tournament...I could abstain from playing and run it myself, I need the support though!

I've wanted marketing to do a tourney, but it needs to be worth it for the company as a whole...The money doesn't grow off trees, it has to come from somewhere.
