No Bo Rai Cho?? IMO, definitely one of the best in mkda. Virtually unstoppable if played correctly

I dunno man, BRC is just a little cheap with his vomit which hangs around for ~8secs, not mention his stomp which tracks sidestepping.

oh so you weren't able to use Raiden?? why not? i am glad i wasn't there then since Raiden is my character. i really wish i could have been there but alas, i am too far away. it'd be nice if we could see some videos.
they really need to make the next MK with online play. that way we can all participate in the toruneys w/o ever living our homes.

i believe it was default characters, so that anyone who just bought the game wouldn't be at a disadvantage.

I always led off with Shang. He's the strongest, especially with no Reptile in the mix. I always used snake combos to get close, and then I would do some crane mix ups. Eventually they would drop their defense and I would do Shang's big branch into straight sword. Fireball mixups, I would only soul steal if I was at 25% health or less. I'd rather go for the big combo. Sidestepping was key, I would intentionally have them block a combo and sidestep theirs and retaliate.

I used Kung Lao alot. Power up branch. Superior pressure with the mantis attacks. Good sidestep. I really worked the sidestep. LOts of taunts, pretty much whenever I knocked them down or whenever they would do theirs I would do mine. Kung Lao is actually alot better then I gave him credit in my tier thread...

Sonya was all mix ups. I did her 40% branch whenever I had a chance.

Scorpion was all mix ups also. Nobody knew that you can launch into the spear. I used pi gua rage quite a bit...push hellfire etc.

I'm still not sure who is better Shang or Scorpion. I think Shang has an edge because everyone knows Scorpion.

Reptile is an everything killer...

Even during the "oh crap dude! scorpion is unstoppable!" era, I never believed that Scorpion was the best in the game. Top Tier? Hell yueah. Best? Nah. Too predicatable, and seeing how he's the most used it hurts him even more. Guaranteed d,b+2 off d+4? Great, but how about a blocked d+4 getting punished about something ill like b,d+2,sm,1,1,2,d+2,1,2 juggle? Hes really good, but just a bit over hyped.

As for Shang Tsung being better, they are both about even, but i'd give to Scorpion for the single reason what he's safer and does more damage. Not to mention Shang suffers from some serious miss issues. Snake: 1,1,2,cs misses Quan Chi and others 70% of the time, leaving you wide open. I was playing Shang in a small tournament between friends last saturday, and I got owned by a quan because of a screwed up 1,1,2,cs. Im only using Snake for the mix ups from now on. Crane is where its at for Shang. 3,3,2 is crazy. It breaks up some strings, and it leads to 3,3,2,2,1,1,1,cs for an easy 25% damage. Shang is great, but I still wouldn't give him numero uno.

As for BRC being unstoppable, nah. Yeah, he has the infinite, but its only going to hit if the opponent plays a seriously offensive game. b,f+2 is pretty damn hard to avoid, but being an SZ player, I keep my distance,anyway. BRC, also top tier, but numero uno? Nah.

Then theres other top tiers like Nitara,Sub Zero and Drahmin. All great characters who own up the mids and low tiers of the game, but just don't have that insanity to be the best.

Who's the best in my book? Sonya. She's the easiest to get damage with(TKD: 2,1,1,d+3 does fricken 30%), and her mix ups in TKD are great. Not to mention her neglected mix ups in Kali Sticks. 4,2,b+3 does 31% and is guaranteed off of a reversal. Thats basically a 3 hit Quan Chi branch that is 5% weaker? WTF?!!? Kiss of Death is broken, if not blocked fully, POW! Your hit and Sonya gets a guaranteed juggle. TKD: 4,_ mix ups are broken. Every damn thing is broken. She can break defense, and she can reverse? Good thing Sonya isn't all that popular, or we might just have a Ms. Jin for MKDA.

Enough of my ranting. Good luck and make sure to teach those scrubs how to play hardcore in the finals.

you never mentioned Reptile and I think that's a big mistake.

the crane 2,2,3,3,1,1,1,cs does 27%
but you should do 3,3,1,1,1,cs for 29% on the bigger characters (i.e jax, scorpion) it doesnt work on most of the girls (kitana, li mei). yeah crane is the shit! his combination of ss and counter kick ass.

Agreed Ray, Reptile is another one of those "should be top tier" fighters. Great mix ups, great damage, great everything. If he was top tier, he would be number 7 or 8 in my book. Its gonna be hard to make a decent tier list seeing how TiT5 will show absolutely no skill(seeing how infinites are legal), but I hope us serious players can gather around after watching the vids and make a good tier list. This is what I have so far(besides sonya, its in no particular order)

I would put Reptile and Hsu Hao in the four and five slots...I consider Sub-Zero and Kenshi to be equal and they would go six and seven.

Mokap and Blaze are wild cards, similar to Drahmin...

I'm glad people are taking Drahmin seriously...He is one of my personal faves...for the old skool jugglers. ;)

Kenshi is not top tier. No lows, TK Slam is a bastard to pull off quickly, and is just..not top tier. All he has is damage..realy,really good damage. Not dissing Kenshi, just speaking the truth.

Hsu Hao and Reptile are both better than Kenshi, but dunno about Sub Zero. Kori: 3 owns them both for free. Plus its alot easier to get damage with Sub Zero than with Rep and Hsu. Hsu is too reversal dependant. Besides his reversal all he has is his mix up. Reptile vs Sub is more even than Hsu vs Sub just because Rep and Sub are basically equal. Great mix ups, but again, Kori: 3 is too good. Its all debateable. Ray and Auro, if ya have aim, give it to me. I'll start a chat and we can talk some MKDA. Kenshi's biggest combo that i know of is 74%

Sub-Zero is 45%
