Not really, EB does this a lot, especially with big name releases. I got my credit card charged for Zelda Wind Waker before the game's shipping/release date, around a thursday-friday, but the game was actually shipped on the following monday, which was the actual release date.
The reason EB and other online retailers do this sometimes is just in case there are any credit card verification delays and issues, and to speed up the process so that the games/merchandise can be shipped quickly as soon as they recieve it.

Ive ordered alot from EBGames.com recently, usually when a card is charged, its shipped either
1) The Same Night
or
2) The Next day

EBgames has only put a hold on your Credit Card for the amount of your purchase to ensure that amount will be billable on the day of release. The order I made is still listed as open.
This is the same as a bar opening up a tab. The bar pre-approves some large amount such as 60.00 on your card. This way they don't serve drinks and food to someone with a jacked credit card.
EB is not shipping the game to get here tomorrow. Stop pointing out normal business practices as signs of an early release date. Case closed. Enjoy the game next Tuesday or Wednesday. Rest up this weekend.

Right, sure you did. You didn't get charged. I ordered from EB and they put a hold for the amount on my card. NO CHARGE.

well kids even if they do have the game they do not ship weekends so if you think you are getting it this week odds are slim. they would have had to ship it out already. even if eb got the game thurs or fri and shipped the game it wouldnt be in your mailbox til mon or tues.

The status of my copy of MKD at ebgames.com is "open." Which supposedly means it's in stock, and is being processed.
