I noticed that to. I listened carefully, and he DID say the "Ermac from MK2" line. Either Ermac was in MK2 as a super secret character that no one found a way to fight yet, or Boon was just mistaken, and meant "Ermac from MK1".

Obviously nobody knows/remembers the real story behind ERMAC. Way back when MK2 was only in the arcades there was a rumor about a red ninja dubbed ERMAC. EGM did an article on it and the truth was revealed. ERMAC was glitch that happened to an MK2 arcade machine. The machine had a hic-up and the person playing as Sub-zero or scorpion, i dont remember its been so long. But when the game glitched the ninja's costume turned red and the name on the health bar read ERMAC. Which was discovered to be (ER)ROR (MAC)HINE. By then the rumors were so wide-spread that Boon/Tobias picked up on the hype for MK3/UMK3. That is the "real" ERMAC story, no more than a glitch.

actually all that happened in the original MK (as far as the error thing that made people think he was a character) having seen it first hand i can assure you that. Its possible ermac was in MK2 (boon did say mk2 and 3 btw) as a secret character. Boon has said on many occassions that there are still unknown secrets from all MK games (probably just 1,2,3,4 not MKDA)

NO. What he said was, and i quote, "On the left is uh, his name's Ermac. He was actually one of the hidden characters from Mortal Kombat 2 and 3 that really was kind of a myth, at some point we decided to make him a real character." Listen to it for yourself.
So either he made a mistake of his own game or Ermac may be in MK2.

| Dadgad Wrote: Actually, Ermac is in MK 2...at least on the super nintendo version. I remember seeing him before a round. He appeared in the middle of the screen and said: Ermac, who ? The first time we've seen Ermac is in mk 1 because of an error "Error Marco" |
You mean Jade, right?

And here we have another occasion where people go crazy over something that just may not be there. You'd think we as MK fans would get the hint by now. But, really, back in the early 90s these rumors and stuff were perfectly fine but now people can strip these games down to their code and see exactly what's there and what isn't. It's because of exactly this that it was established there were no extra secrets, like Noob, in MK:DA. If Ermac was in MK2 in some way other than a cheap joke like the "Kano morphs" thing somebody would have found out simply because it's now feasable to analyze the code of games directly. And as the saying goes, "If it ain't in the code it ain't in the game." Ok so I made that up now but you get the idea.

Agreed. But nobody is going CRAZY over it. Just stating something that BOON said. And just because there is technology now to strip it and get the code, doesnt mean that they did it to MK2, let alone know what they are looking for.
Since this concerns a past Mortal Kombat game, I believe the Classic MK Games Discussion forum would be a more fitting location for this discussion.
