Has anyone noticed that in MK games past, the storylines have been "linear", meaning that each character may have a storyline that connects them to like one or two characters? Like in Deadly Alliance, there was the Cyrax-Reptile-Nitara story, and the Drahmin-Moloch-Quah Chi-Scorpion storyline.

If the game is supposed to be a tournament, and all of the characters are seeing each other, shouldn't we know how characters are interacting with the other fighters? Deadly Alliance's Konquest mode helped somewhat in the little stories before each character's missions like with the mentioning of Sonya's and Frost's rivalry when Sub-Zero introduced Frost to her.

It would be nice to know what's going on between Scorpion and Sonya, what Cyrax and Mileena think of each other, if Tanya and Noob Saibot are friendly, if Nightwolf and Kenshi respect each other, etc. In short, everybody should have some sort of story with every character. I think it's fun and realistic.

Thoughts?

I agree completely. I have always wanted that in a fighting game, but most especially in MK. The overall storyline is quite complex, but has always left me wondering about the individual characters.
For example, I am sure that not all of the "Good Guy/Earth Realm" characters get on perfectly. And the same is, of course, true for the treacherous Outworlders.
Personally, I would love to see a "story mode" where each character has some kind of conversation with their opponent before fighting. I would love to see a chat between Sonya and Kitana, or between Kenshi and Ermac. Or Sindel and Mileena.
I could go on for days, but you get the point.

Thank you for replying to my post! And I completely agree with YOU! Having each character have little conversations with each other would be cool! These little scenes wouldn't occur during or before the match--they would be separate little storyline pieces. Like maybe there's a small scene showing Sonya and Kenshi in Outworld and they meet up with Kitana and talk about something. Or Drahmin meets Sindel for the first time and they talk about Shao Kahn. Or Tanya and Baraka meet each other.

But maybe they do more than talking. Like Sub-Zero falls off aledge and Scorpion rescues him with his Harpoon. Or Nitara travels back to Earth and ends up in Johnny Cage's studio. Or Mileena and Tanya meet and Mileena stabs Tanya with her sais before Smoke intervenes and breaks up the fight or something. Sort of like little mini-movies and they could be unlockable in the Krypt!

Great idea space3999 but you don't have too worry. I thought I heard it somewhere that you can take an individual character and go too konquest and chain.
