Fan Interview Q&A
First of all lets thank the MKOnline team for doing such a great job so far at E3 and providing us with some good information. The only thing that I didnt really like was the Fan Interview. I think you guys chose some good questions, but mostly bad questions. Heh, it looked like you guys were interviewing Noob Saibot....I couldnt see anything besides Ed Boon's eyes. Just a little side note ha ha. On to the questions.....

Q-Hi Ed. Deception is your sixth Mortal Kombat title, how difficult is it for you and your team to come up with that much new content for Deception
A-How difficult is it? Not that difficult at all. Our biggest challenge is usually deciding what of the million ideas that everyone kinda throws out we're gonna do. We always have way more ideas that we've thrown out that we've used and you know some of them make it to the next game and some of them are just thrown out.

Q-In the past it was said that their would be 24 characters in total in MKD. Are you planning on leaving any of them hidden meaning will their be more than 24 characters?
A-Yes, their will be more than 24 characters. The main grid of characters that you choose from will be 8x3 which is 24 characters, but we do plan on hiding additional characters in the konquest mode that will be in addition to the 24 selectable characters.

Q-Yo Ed. Im curious about the mid boss in the new game MKD. So far its been stated the the Dragon King will be the final boss and he will be the equivilent to Goro, Kintaro, and Motoro, but will their still be a real mid boss...one that is not initially playable? A-Yes. The mid boss character in MKD is one of the few still unknown features. Its going to be probably one of the oddest characters we've had in MK. It will end up being a character that you can play as and our plan right now is to have the Dragon King as the final boss

Q-As I understand it was recently that you talked about the Konquest mode and how you will be able to pick styles and play with your character online. What level of customization will you be able to take your character to? Will you be able to pick your clothes, special moves, fatalities, gender and race.
A-No. Its not going to be a create-a-character. The whole goal is to unlock this character who is the old man which you will get when you finish Konquest mode and their will be specifics about him for example you may find a special move that someone else hasnt, but its not going to be a character in which you can determine male or female. Thats probably MK7.

Q-We have heard that you brought back Baraka, Sindel, Smoke, Noob Saibot, Kabal, and Ermac mainly because the fans wanted them. We're these fighters added because of their popularity or did they all have a story in MKD or did you add them because of their popularity and then add their stories?
A-Probably the latter. From a design decision standpoint I really tried to focus in on the characters that people want to see and then their is a guy on our team named John Fogel who is the story teller and he basically came up with the roster and he works the story that incorporates all of those characters.

Q-Will their be any special features in the new MK for the online part such as ladders or tournaments?
A-We probably wont have tournaments so to speak. Our main focus was to get all three of the main modes...the multiplayer modes...the chess kombat, puzzle kombat and the fighting game online. That was our main concern and that was like a huge feat also because XBox Live and PS2 Online. Its something that we had to draw the line at if we wanted to finish the game this year

Q-Will their be a 'Making Of' video for MKD like the one that was in MKDA?
A-Probably not. I thought it was really cool in DA, but we just dont want to repeat the same things over and over
