There are so few people playing Deception online compared to when the game was first release because PS2 and Xbox's flagship games have been released. MK is sort of old compared to new games like Halo and GTA games. Again flagship games are way popular that 3rd party games in general. With GTA SA and Halo 2 MK Deception's numbers online have suffered because of this. Also I don't think that Mortal Kombat is fading out. Keep in mind that the information I stated above that Xbox's flag ship Halo 2 and PS2's flagship GTA SA have over shaded MK: Deception and a whole lot of games this holiday season. Overall MK: Deception sells wise is doing very good. Conidering that MK: Dececption was on the #1 spot at EB and gamestop.com. As well still with in the top 20 charts still today. Over at this Xbox fan site I've noticed that Deception was #7 over in the UK game charts like 2 weeks ago. Now it is #11 I think. Deception is doing pretty good against 2 monster games like GTA SA and Halo 2.

The reason why it seems that a few peolpe are on is because you cannot see them if they are engaged in a match. If you refresh the screen you will see multiple players on the game but only the ones that are hosting an availible game will remain when the refresh is complete. So you are only partly correct in saying that there a so few people playing. Fewer but not significant, besides people like me transition from one game to the next and then come back again just like being at an arcade. For the record, last night there were tons of people on XBL.
Peace

Maybe people are a little dissappointed with it.
I love MK and i like MKD but its just not a great fighter compared to all the other fighters out there.
too many ways to be really cheap in MKD (even though that isnt cheating)
also the disconnect problem pisses me off personally.
And while MKD was the first online 3d fighter , when DOAU came out it was better just for the fact you can have up to 8 people in a room waiting and watching. Not to mention the tons of costumes to unlock (People love unlockables)
I havnt picked up MKD much since i got DOAU but i will get back into it to learn the rest of the characters and beat everyones story and find the remaining costumes.
Dont get me wrong i like the game but uts not as fun as the others , not many improvements over MKDA

People are leaving the online becausethey realize that they have enough stress in their lives without tearing out their hair because of some punk coward playing MKD online. I didn't realize how damaging playing that game online can be.....

probably because you can only play a game like MK so much before it gets boring / repetitive (which is why i love the konquest mode because it was something new [chess and puzzle are the same way although puzzle mode BLOWS])

It would have been nice to see better admin features like kicking players out of rooms, "guest-list" for each room, feedback on players.... the online play would be much nicer and cleaner.

Hmm, I seem to get enough games. Or, I find people online all the time...
Hmm, I guess it depends on what time of the day...

I would say it is -KINDA- fading. I dont play it anymore. It gets extremely boring when you have unlocked all of the KNOWN secrets, and cant find a single clue towards the fabled SU's (and even my optimistic belief in SU's has begun to die) So Lately I find myself returning to Spider-Man 2 and Socom 2 When I have time to play games.
