Ok, I'll get the new MK:D for X-box and I saw on other threads that there was a High Definition option, I don't have a lot of knowledge with that recent feature in video games. Does it mean that the graphics are WAY BETTER?? a little better?? Does it work on every TV?? Does it mean that it's compatible with these new "rectangular" TVs. All I have are square shaped TVs with standard resolution. I tend to think that it's for these High Definition rectangular TVs that are supposed to give a better perspective. Well help me please, what is it exactly ??

You will need a HD TV. Size and shape do not matter, though most smaller TVs aren't HD capable.

You will also need the HD cables which MS makes for Xbox.

The graphics will seem alot better then using the regular AV cables(red, white, yellow) or some crappy RF adapter which is the worse connection you could use.
But if you use Component cables already then HD won't seem that much better, but there still will be a difference in color and sharpness.

Hook Up List-Good to Bad

1. HD
2. Component
3. S-Video
4. Standard AV(yellow,white,red)
5. RF adapter(used for TVs that don't have the 3 colored inputs for AV)

I myself don't have a HD TV, since my TV is only a 27" and most reasonable HD TVs are within the 32" and up range. So I just bought a TV with Component and S-Video hook ups and my picture is great. So if you use Component you will have the next best thing to HD.

Hope that helps. Feel free to ask anymore questions.

Well man, the other day I saw these Red, blue, green cables for X-box at Wal-mart, I doN't remember the name they give to these on the package, but they seemed to be better than the Red, white, yellow ones given with the system. I think it was that S-video thing you're talking about but I'm really not sure. Do you know if these cables fit into the Red-white-yellow sockets ?? Or if it's for a TV with these special colored ones?? All I have on my TVs are the red-white-yellow sockets. Strangely , I have a little TV that doesn't have the red socket. The system works with only the white and yellow cables. Do you know why man??

If you're only using the yellow and white cables, you're only getting mono sound, as opposed to stereo.

Component cable has 5 inputs (Red, Green, Blue for picture. Yellow and Red for sound).

Also, I'm considering buying a HDTV rectangular shaped with integrated speakers on each sides, you know the silver colored ones. Well, I'm wondering, if I play an "old" game that doesn't have the HDTV support, will the game be displayed in the fullness of the screen?? Or will the game be displayed in a squared screen like usual, leaving ugly black spaces on each side of the screen??? Or if it's displayed rectangular , will the textures be enlarged horizontally, leaving an ugly "fat" disproportional effect??

The TV should have options for how you want it to display the different formats - basically you'll have 2 options.
- Normal 4:3 with black bars on left & right.
- Stretched horizontally

and i think some tv's might have an option where it will zoom in on a 4:3 picture to give full screen, except that you end up losing the top & bottom of the picture!!

OOOh shit, well, I'll stick with my 4:3 ratio TVs for a while. There's not a lot of games that support this HDTV rectangular thing. I don't want to end up with disproportional effect or losing parts of the screen.

I do want an HD option!!
I have the neccesary equipment, so i would like to advantage of that. But if it's not an option it's fine by me too.

But i do hope it's possible

Just get a good TV with Component inputs and you'll be set. Gaming is the best with 4:3 ratio and movies are the best with wide screen 16:9 ratio.

I would suggest getting a Sony Wega Hi-Hi Trinton. Best picture you can get without it being HD and you'll have the 4:3 ratio. It has many plug in options also. 2 Component inputs, 2 or 3 S-Video and 3 AV inputs.
