Would you like to see it dealing more with what we’re used to every day? (Cars, going through cities, etc.)

Or become more of a fantasy world? (pretty much like it’s been)

As far as backgrounds go, I'd like to see a return to the mysterious island or isolated city of monks vibe that it had in the beginning. I wasn't overly enamored with MK2's Outworld backgrounds, but 3's were the worst to me. I honestly hated the modern backdrops. The church was cool, but the subway? No thanks.

I'd also like to see a bit more consistency in the style of the backgrounds. You know, make them all fit into a location that has many different fighting arenas. That's why I thought the island from MK 1 worked so well. If you had a Forbidden City type of place, you know, up in the mountains, only accessible by invitation, a place where the Shaolin Monks lived etc, you could still have a ton of places to fight. There could be a large temple where people could fight on multiple levels and perhaps a balcony to knock players down into a grassy courtyard or a cemetary.

You could have a knee deep river that leads to a waterfall, or a bridge over the river, or large arena sized raft going down the river (to steal an idea from Soul Calibur). Caves, catacombs, temple basements, the edge of a cliff, shrines, the list goes on and on.

I bring this up because I never liked the idea of bringing back arenas from old games, I never liked the mixing of old and new. You know, one fight you're on the Tekunin ship and the next you're at the portal from MK2. Or to take the idea further, one minute you're fighting someone in hell or the pit and the next you're fighting in the subway. Then the desert. Then the soul chamber. Then you're fighting on a plain looking modern street. Ya get what I'm saying here? No continuity.

So yeah, the story and character should be modern, but I'd like to see that stuff done against a backdrop of a location that has resisted change and gives off a traditionalist, ancient and mysterious vibe to it.

That's my 10 cents anyways.

I don't mind some modern/sci-fi elements...but it should have a small presence in my opinion. I like Sektor and his clan, and I can accept the Special Forces (even though I don't like them), but I wouldn't go much further than that. The Tekunin should remain non-playable except for Sektor and there shouldn't be any more cyborgs.

As for the presence of cities and whatnot...well, in my opinion, Earth should be laid to waste after Armageddon, leaving a post-apocalyptic state. So that would hinder the presence of too much technology and modern-day elements, I think.

But keep it mainly a fantasy with some sci-fi elements.

Armageddon was the Trilogy of the 3D MK's. The storyline was weak as goat piss. Also they are starting fresh, so hopfully we won't be hearing any more from the MKA storyline.

So..? As weak as Armageddon's story was, i doubt they're just going to pretend it didn't happen. And I still think Earth should be fucked up in MK8. Earth's had it way too easy.

Fantasy!!! Mythology!! Hell I'd be down if they did an origin game; or took the whole damn concept of MK, and put it in a historical setting.
The farther away from modern technology the better.
