How to unlock Liu Kang?

Ok. So I beat MKD and I went to Liu Kangs training and finished that. Now everything I have been reading has said, "go to edenia" to unlock liu kang. Well, when I try to go to edenia (which is in earthrealm right?) I reach 2 big doors and when I try to open them it says "these doors are locked" Any ideas what I need to do? Maybe I'm going the wrong way or doing something wrong.
Any help is VERY appreciated. I'm getting frustrated.

That's your mistake right there ^_^
Ediena is the last portal on the left of the group of portals, it's (light blue in color.
