My thoughts:

About the Chess game (from a magazine in the first page of this site):
"Players take turns in moving their pieces with the objective being to defeat your opponent's 'King' piece - but whenever two pieces meet, a battle ensues. This is dealt with in time honoured fashion - with a round of the Mortal Kombat fighting game. Weaker pieces will have less energy than the stronger ones."

Now, if you look at the pics you will see a lot of Quan Chi's 'pieces' in the Chess game ... so, Quan CHi must be in the game to fight the round of the Chess game. If he fights in the Chess Game, is easy to put him in the main game

Sorry about my bad English ...

The photos we saw also had Kitana. And they used the old models of Sub-Zero and Scorpion. I just think they were placeholders, really. I mean, why would they use old models of someone who had a new one in the game?

Based on what i have seen, "the chess game" is using the MKDA engine, and sprites, so i would not get my hopes up.
