Seriously, just like it was done with Biohazard or Rygar or Wolfenstein (or Doom)... What I think MK2 was the best game in the series and I guess a lot of people would agree.
Right?
Right?

I cant see how this thread relates to the mk6 discussion fourm, unless you are hinting that they can make a duplicate success of mk2 in mk6.
Pound for pound was mk2 the best game ever in the series? Yes
However it will look tame to todays technological advances without a doubt.

well i wouldent mind a remake of all the games in 3d or sumtin.
But id much rather see MK6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and so on.

No. I wouldn't agree, but obviously I'm not "lot of people"
OK, seriously. You want a remake. And more precisely? Do U want it to be in 2D or 3D? If in 2D with graphics improved, then it should be some kind of a bonus disc rather than individual game. Or maybe the same old game with the same old story but in 3D? Well, I think most people would like to see new story, a sequel to MKDA (Dragon King's case) and because of that, it won't be a remake anymore. Besides, new game would be more profitable than remake and Midway knows that.

A 3D remake of MK2 would sound great, but I would expect to have the same awe as when I first played MK2 in the Arcades.

Just remaking MK2 doesn't make sense IMO unless they also remade MK1. And even then it doesn't make much sense. I think it makes the most sense to remake the game that NEEDS to most remaking to be enjoyable to today's audience. Also ppl always say "MK2 is the best, it's so much better than MK1" but MK2 couldn't exist w/o MK1, nor could any other MK. My point is, if they remade MK1 it would be celebrating the birth of the series. But if they remade MK2, it just wouldn't make sense. I suppose it would be nice to play revamped versions of the classic games, but it would have to be in a proper context, and I just don't see a remake of MK2 happening.

What if Midway does a really shabby remake like sega is doing with their sega ages lineup for PS2? I played the remade golden axe and it sucks. Id much rather play the decade old original 2D one. And if Boon screws it up, MK2 will lose its appeal.

I don't see how that's possible, when all you can do is just go back and play the original version.

This is just like people that say Final Fantasy 3 is better than all the other Final Fantasy games, or Legend of Zelda 1 is better than all the new ones...
Same thing applies. YES, the impact of the game was bigger, but comparing the older games to the newer ones, the older ones don't hold a friggin candle. Say MK2 is the best MK game ever all you want, MKDA is FAR superior in graphics and gameplay.
You guys just like MK2 cause it was awesome when it first came out and had a bigger impact. Doesn't make it a better game. If you had to play only one of those games for the rest of your life and you picked part 2, you'd get bored of it REAL quick.

An MK2 remake eh? Well first of all, this thread isn't in the right section. It should be in the Classic MK Games Discussion. I hope this thread simply gets moved and not closed. Anyway, an MK2 remake sounds like an ok idea. I have thought about that before. Although, I would like to see them focus on making MK6 before working on any other MK game.

Woo! Opinions, opinions, OPINIONS! Calm down. If the people that compare MK2 do MK:DA and think MK2 was a better game, then to them it is. Just because you don't think it is doesn't mean that it isn't to anyone else. I know a bunch of people here thought MK:DA got boring very quick, I'm one of them and I think MK2 is more fun than MK:DA and that's just our opinion, so don't go and get all upitty when someone says MK2 is better than MK:DA.
So just because you're biased opinion concludes that newer games will always be better than older ones can get flushed right down the toilet.

would anyone agree with me when I say that I liked mk1's feel better than all the rest. I know that todays games are better because they are more advanced.
2) Please no remake. We want the future of mk, not something from the past. Lets make it mk6, 7 , and 8, so when we are a little older we can go back and say "wow, we had a nice little collection.) Besides, everybody will be disappointed if say instead of mk6, they said they would come out with a remake of mk2, I want mk6 damit!(kidding)

I would like to see MK2 re-released for Game Boy Advance. I mean all the sounds the arcade had.
Control config would be interesting. Maybe try to pull a 3 button genesis control config with AB and R being attacks and L being block?

So I guess you'd play Wolfenstein 3D instead of Return to the Castle Wolfenstein, too?
And so on (there are really many remakes these times). Heck, even MGS for Gamecube (and yes, it's actually third of Metal Gear series).

You don't know what the word REMAKE means, don't you?

OMG, yes I do know what it means. That wasn't my point. a REMAKE of MK 2 might actually be cool.
My point is that so many people say it's a better game NOT because of the game quality, but because of it's impact when it first came out. Like Zelda 1, or the earlier Final Fantasy games. If you were to say it was better quality based on gameplay and fun factor, then I would simply disagree. However, saying that it's better just because of the excitement when it first came out, then that is stupid. No new game will ever be as good as the older ones then.
On a personal note, I think MKDA was much better than all the old MK games put together. The fighting system was much better and it looked great graphically. But that's just my opinion. I mean... some people probably like the old "everyone fights exactly the same except for special and finishing moves style" but to me that's a lot more boring than MKDA.

And then MKDA just isn't a CLASSIC game. And what I mean is to "make MK2 look like DA". Instead of inventing, uh, another MK3 (and MK4 wasn't good at all, imo).
They got a pretty good engine already, so I think no big problem here.
Oh, and because other rumors such as animality and brutality were eventually inludeded in the later titles, I'm excepting to see at last these famed nudalities, too. Quoting 'Weird' Al: "In 3D!" ;)
[no, just kidding... on-screen torturing helpless enemy to death is okay in US, but stripping someone naked? no-no, Mister hentai!]

No.
MK2 is so great and popular for so many fans and people, that they should leave it the way it is. They could remake Mk1, Mk3 or Mk4. Those games are IMO excellent and I even like Mk3 better then Mk2! But they could have been better in some aspects, so, they could remake those.
But first, they must finish Mk6 making it be the greatest of all Mk games!

Uhh, no. I wouldn't play Wolfenstein anything, because I hate those games. And no, the remake of MGS for the Gamecube isn't the third MGS of the series. It maybe for the Cube, but it ain't for the PS2. The PS2 has a whole new MGS coming out.

Gargoyle, an MK2 remake sounds like a good idea to me.
What would you like to see in this remake? Any changes or additional characters? What's your wish list?
If MK is a tournament, then MK2 could be an adventure with kombatants traveling in Outworld.
Later.

And if you don't like fighting games, you wouldn't play Mortal Kombat anything. Geez.
And yes, MGS was a third game in the series. First two were called Metal Gear (1987) and Metal Gear 2 (1990).

1)Wolefestein was a great great game, never rag on it, it will easily beat up castlevania, devils may cry, those are games that are second rate compared to wolfenstein
2) Somebody could back me up on this, the reason there not making a mk2 or any 2 D game anymore is that the producers of mortal kombat said. and Im paraphrasing "there is no going back into the past" hinting there will not be a 2 D game
3) At some point in this decade, they may release some sort of wrap of of mk1 through whatevever mk they will have.
