Because I know I am. Graphics and backgrounds aside (which look fabulous), after only about 5 hours playing the game I have noticed countless glitches, control issues in Konquest mode, and a host of other things that should have been solved.
Further, is it just me, or are combos, for some reason, more difficult to execute with consistency here than in DA? For whatever reason (I DID NOT have this problem in DA) any combo that is longer than 3 hits in Deception I can only get timed right about 40% of the time.
Finally, is it me, or does the entire fighting system just not seem to flow as well this time around? Scorpion for example. With his weapon in DA, even though they weren't technically linked as combos (i.e. they were bloackable from move-to-move) all of his sword attacks seamlessly could be executed one after the other lending a very realistic approach. It seems to me in deception, especially with weapons, if you don't pull off an auto-combo, there is an odd timed gap (I know the producers wanted to increase the presence of counter-attacks) between moves. It almost feels like there is a pause in between each attack unless they are linked by auto combos.
Further, the general controls in between fighting styles are even more maligned in Deception. In DA you could pick a random character, never having used them before, and generally know how to do a low power attack, a pop-up, etc... But in Deception, I feel this isn't the case. Maybe it's because it's new to me, but I keep fumbling like crazy to make the characters do what I want them to. the controls seem less intuitive, and I HATE having to relearn everything for each character.
Ultimately, I have resorted to playing in Konquest mode and puzzle kombat. When they get boring, the game will be sold (but I am keeping MKI and all the cool crap it came with!) I'm an old-school MKer at heart, and this just proves to me that the more advanced and complicated MK games get, the less enjoyable they are (at least to me).

Not dissapointed in the least. I love Konquest, Puzzle Fighter is addicting, and online play is completely lag free. Not to mention the story is probably the best in the series. Definitely my favorite MK game since MKII.

This is the best MK ever. I'm sorry if you find fault in it.

this is easily the best mk game ever. i strongly disagree with gamespot about konquest mode. it may be tedious but i am enjoying the extra effort over the ho-hum konquest mode in mkda.

I can't say that Iam. Iam enjoyin this game. I love Puzzle Mode, very addicting, havent played chess kombat yet, iam still only in EarthRealm in Konquest Mode and I haven't even played online yet. I have only unlocked Jade, Kira and Kenshi so far. Iam taking my time w/this game and not rushing it. Iam having alot of fun. I haven't played my PS2 this much since FFX-2 came out.
Iam sorry to say that your disappointed w/Deception but this game kicks ASS. I hope to see some ONLINE here soon. I should be this weekend and my namertag will be either Diablo44870 or Xfactor44870
