Is anyone not excited about MK:Shaolin Monks?

I'm not excited. The graphics look bland, the story is nothing new, I don't like Kang or Lao. And -- there's apparently no Sonya. So blaaaah, no thanks. I'll skip this one.

Two words:
HELL YEAH!!
Nope.
Previous efforts at MK adventure games have been VERY disappointing, and this one isn't offering me anything enticing. I have nothing against Kung Lao, but there are much more interesting, I think, characters who have yet to be explored, and I think that this should be exploited. I don't want a different view of something I've already seen.
Here's some adventure games I'd like to see:
Kitana & Mileena - Parallel adventures of Kitana trying to uncover her past and Mileena trying to head her off. This could have how Mileena and Baraka met, and other cool stuff.
Special Forces Redux - Not necessarily a remake, but an entirely new game involving more characters, SONYA, of course, and a story that makes sense. The original Special Forces could've been amazing, and I think a new game should come out that does Sonya & Jax proper justice.
Brotherhood of the Shadow - Select from different characters like Reiko, Ashrah, Sareena, maybe even Noob Saibot and do missions for Shinnok and Quan Chi. I think this would really help to develop the Netherealm aspect of the game.
Shokan - Not entirely sure what the premise might be, but Kintaro and Sheeva are really cool characters who never got any attention. A game where they are playable characters could really flesh them out and help develop the Shokan mythos.
Dragons - A game where you play as both Red and Black Dragon members fighting each other would be totally cool. Mavado was killer and never got a chance to shine. I could take or leave Hsu Hao.
Lin Kuei - A prequel where you could play as pre-robotic Smoke, Cyrax, Sektor, and Sub-Zero Jr.
Anyway, my point is that the existing Mortal Kombats have ALWAYS been about the shaolin monks, and no new ground is being tread. After six games, the story has gotten huge and complicated, and no one's taking advantage of this. With the exception of Johnny Cage, if they had announced an adventure game surrounding ANY OTHER CHARACTER, I would've been considerably more interested.

I am, but that's cause of the in-depth storyline it's going to add. I've always been more interested in the story of Mortal Kombat rather than the gameplay.
And as for the game itself, I am. I mean, come on, two players in a beat-em-up game, plus it's 3d AND Mortal Kombat. This new system of figthing intrigues me. So, hell yeah, I'm excited for Shaolin Monks.

I was going to make this same thread. It looks TOO MUCH like Konquest. I'm probably going to buy it, but I'm not excited at all about it. The graphics do look bland, like DylanReece said.

I'm excited about it, one of the main things about MK is it's story, I love to get into depth.
The graphics look, decent, but they are probably not final.

I am so excited about it because it's just like mortal kombat deception's konquest. If you walk into a monster or a ninja or something like that you will just fight like on onimusha where you don't go into a arena instead you just fight right there.you can run away or just fight!

good ideas
noob smoke: about how they take over the netherrealm
edenian gaurd: rain and jade doing missions for sindel and kitana
chosen warriors: the chosen ones(sub-zero, kang, kunglao, sonya, jax , kabal, nightwolf, stryker) from mk3 take on shao khan
lots of charactors could have made better games but still mksm looks awesome to me i'm excited
Why do you guys care so much about the graphics?!? Graphics do not make a game. Also these are the early stages so the graphics will improve. Another thing is that Ed Boon didnt even work on MKM or MKSF. Boon will take care of this game. Nobody knows anything about MKSM anyways. I think it will be good because MKII is probably the best MK game. I would wait until we have details about the gameplay before you say anything about how bad its going to be.
