Lately I've been playing lots of Mortal Kombat both old and new, and it struck me how little emphasis there is on JUMPING in MK:D. I often go for a whole slew of matches without doing a single jump. In old MK it was an essential part of the game, here it is barely used. Is this just me? Or am I just negelecting a vital part of the game? I'm curious to see if anyone here jumps alot in MK:D... if there are some good uses for jumping I would love to hear them!

I jump alot in Deception. 've fought out it isn't the best thing to do against the AI , but a great thing to do if you are fighting a human. I am still figuring out the best ways to attack. Jump kicking can be useful if you know how to do it right. Like past MKs jump kicking has its bad and good.

I'm sure that jumping has its occasional uses in this version of the game, but in my opinion I believe the MK crew missed the boat in exploiting the jump in attack. It would have been nice to see jump kicks knock people back for juggle opportunities or jumping in with punches quickly connect into a dial a combo al la UMK3. If the next version had this built in I am sure we would see a lot more vertical character moment in the game. D

I think that The have to keep the fighting close together til they figure out a good balance for higher jumping and interactive jumping.

Jumping is really useful for me. For instance, when fighting Onaga, he slams his foot down and you can just keep jumping backwards and not get hit. Then keep jumping cuz he'll spit a fireball or whatever. I think it is a little useful, but it's not as effective as in previous MK games. Remember, in the old MK games (MK II) jumping was not that great of an idea, especially against a good opponent that can counter every jump... kinda like me hehe

if you're going to jump then just do that float jump glitch shit. The only time you really want to jump is to avoid ground pounds and the such.

You can really seak in a jumpkick but in the end it isn't real usful or vital. They really should have a few pop up jump attacks so they could at least be used as combo starters. I don't think your skills are going to suffer much by not using them.

I jump a good bit myself, however I find it more useful to just stay grounded. A jump kick doesn't really do anything but hit them. In past MK's, you could use a jump kick to set up kombos...for example in MK2, I jump kick with Scorpion then as they are falling back, spear them and uppercut. In Deception, jump kicks and jumping in general just isn't as useful.
