You can only use the 3 characters that appear in both games: Shang Tsung, Scorpion and Quan Chi.

Its a shame TE was made like the Sonic & Knuckles cart, with a lock on so that both games could be connected for a *full* version (even unlocking Moloch as a boss in the process?)

It's so sad that only 3 characters can be used when linking these two games

yaah... like the others said... you can only play with 3 characters when linking the two. And you can only fight on the backgrounds that each one have. By doing this though... you can unlock Sektor (when linking the 2 games together). There is another way to unlock Sektor, but it's much easier this way.
