"Midway hosted a conference call today along with its 4th quarter 2002 and year-end results. In the conference call, several company representatives revealed some future plans for their software lineup. Midway talked a lot about the lack of sales for some of its titles such as Haven and Defender (luckily no mention about less GCN support). Then they specified some release dates. For the GameCube titles, Freestyle Metal X is coming in June, and MLB Slugfest 2004 on March 17th. We had previously only known of a general release in 2003 for MLB Slugest. Freestyle Metal X was listed as Q2 2003 but now it has either been delayed or the first date we received wasn't correct.

Now to the good stuff. Midway is planning some new titles, albeit on undetermined platforms. There is a new first person shooter, survival adventure, basketball, and an automobile combat game in the works. The company did name two new titles, one is a remake of the game Narc and another is a new Mortal Kombat. Midway is going with a new strategy, for more tried and true genres and types of games and made a lot of comparisons with their new games to MGS, Resident Evil, and more. Midway will release eleven GameCube titles and eight GBA titles in 2003. We assume most of the announced games are multiplatform, but the next Mortal Kombat should be a shoe in for GameCube."
