Greetings all,

Normally I was going to post my comments in one of the existing topics, but this is too big of an issue to let it pass, possibly unnoticed.

Here was the update on the news:

"We have spoken to Midway's internal media relations team about the information in this article, and they have said, "The news source was an outdated and unofficial gameplay document that was not intended for media use. The unofficial information was taken without prior consent or approval from Midway Games and therefore should not be considered accurate and/or official Mortal Kombat news." Therefore, this validity of this news is still very much in question; we'll learn more as we get closer to E3. Our thanks to Midway for the heads-up on this information!"

Somehow, some people really don't get it. It's not because Midway says something, that it is immediately so. Of course, it lends a lot of (in)credibility to previous claims, but here's why I think Midway is trying to save itself right now:

1. If the material was not meant to be published, WHY did they show this reporter around at the studios? Because they didn't want him to report?

2. There are brand new images in the mag. If it was not meant to be released, WHY were they given to that mag in the first place?

3. It's the OFFICIAL PlayStation magazine of Germany, not some independent, small publication that is likely to pirate its information.

4. Ed Boon HIMSELF is quoted in the article and its implied he showed them around, not just some Midway employee who smuggled in a foreign reporter (an English translation of the article can be found in another thread I made: http://www.mortalkombatonline.com/content/forum/showmessage.cds?name=mk6&message;=54012)

And another thing. People who think this whole thing was "fishy", can only think this way for two reasons:

1. You don't want to believe (also labelled, ironically with a German word, as Glaubensunwilligkeit) because you're not able to. You didn't want to believe your pet character was not 'konfirmed' or were repelled by some other news. Too bad for you.

2. You don't want to believe because you're actually a retarded nationalist. Don't trust the Germans eh? It's sad that this seems to be the underlying thought pattern of some users here.

Of course, I'm not saying I believe anything. I'm sure that there will be some mistakes in that article, but there mistakes can be made by anyone.

Personally, I don't fully trust the article because of some glaring mistakes (re: Ken Masters), and because of our connection with staff members of Midway. While I do believe there is some truth in the German article, I know for a fact that some of it is false. And that is straight from the horse's mouth.

You can't think that we don't want to beleive this...'news'...is false because we don't trust germans, or because our favorite characer didn't make it in. You just sound like a whiny little kid throwing a tantrum because we disagreed with your post.

I refuse to beleive it, because it all sounds questionable, and quite frankly, way too fucking stupid to be even remotely credible. I'd rather wait for E3, thank you.

I have to agree with you there VQ, seems alot of people on this board are narrow minded...hmm probably why I dont post anymore!

All I can say is thanks for givin us something to talk about, speculation is what keeps us hungry and now all we can do is wait till E3 next month

There is a big part of me that thinks Midway is trying to cover their ass here. That article had a TON of info, regardless of how accurate it was. Because of this fact, and because E3 is only a few weeks away, it looks to me like Midway is trying to discredit the article so they actually have something new to show at the Expo.

However, if M4C, a higher up on this board, says that he knows for a fact that some of the info is bogus, then I believe him. He's helps run this site, and it looks as though he has legit inside sources.

I'm not saying that I don't trust the article either, I'd say about 85% makes sense/sounds legit. There are a few things, like Liu Kang's ghost and the female Kano that just strike me as odd however.

As for the crack about nationalism on this board. I have to agree that some (not all of course) people are making themselves sound really ignorant. I just hope that I'm not one of them.

@M4C: Sure, I've never said that I'm a *Believer*. If the article was written during the earlier stages of making the game, some info must be incorrect, however, it's nitpicking. So far there are only two obvious mistakes, and that's Raiden and Ken Masters. Do you think I seriously believed Ken was going to be in this game? ;)

However, if you check my arguments, you'll have to admit there's much validity in them.

It wouldn't be the first time, btw, Midway is confusing to us or waiting to confirm something to get our hopes up... Clever strategies!

Well I'm part German, so I don't have anything against them. I guess I must be upset my favourite characters aren't in the game?

Actually that is why I'm upset. I like the characters that can have good progression on their story. That's probably why I don't believe it. Where is Drahmin, Mavado, Cyrax, Sonya, Jax, Nitara, Kitana, Kung Lao, Johnny Cage and Blaze? And yet they have Liu Kang's spirit. Not to insult Midway, or the German magazine, but I can come up with a better roster than that.

I think a lot of that stuff is real. I think the concept for many characters are real. I think Skab will have some reality in the game, one way or another.

I think Midway is trying to save itself right now, too. That's why i think they've gone ahead and leaked out information. Seriously, would you go releasing all the information about your game 6 months before it is due for release? My bet is that 60% of that information has truth to it. The characters will be updated soon I hope. I think it is very likely we'll get some more promising info at E3.

I think some of the article was true but if its an early article then they couldve changed alot by now.i think its crazy to hide stuff anyway.its our money they want so whats the big deal in a little info leak.nothing thats what.it builds more hype this way for people wanting to see more.

M4C you said it.
Some true, some not. Even though some or the beans have been spilled there is still some left to hide. I think leading up until the time of release not much info will be released. Hopefully this will cause midway to change something eg a character. Alot of this info will be confirmed at E3. If I was midway I would release a video about MKD and that's it nothing else no revealing of anything else. Just to keep us wondering.

A little joke here and there to decept us.

As Boon told in an interview Barney, Santa Claus and so are in, NO ONE flamed about it. Now there is a joke about Ken Masters and all are thinking "Stupid German", "Fake" or something else...

I never said you were a fool to begin with. I just think you need to relax and realize we arent against the germans. I just didnt think what some of that article said was true and I think its really odd German PSM would have this kind of info on a game made in the U.S. where the Amercian PSM would know about it too.

It's not unusual for Germany to get exclusives. Actually, GameStar has world exclusive first looks for many PC games.

Well I won't keep beating a dead horse here, but even if it wasn't intended so, certainly some users (I don't mean you personally) came across as derogatory and suspicious. Yeah, sure it would be the "normal" order of things that American mags get the news first, I realise that. Still, I think the suspicion was largely unwarranted.

Anyway, I don't really think this the proper forum to discuss issues of nationality on anyway, I just had to vent. So, as for me, no hard feelings, certainly.

maybe u tranlated wrong, cause in american PSM ken masters and ryu were confirmed boon said, but he was just playing around in the interview at the end. so you ppl are dumb, they tranlated that shit from american PSM onto that one. they have new screenshots but i am sure they have no new fighters on it or shit. no earthrealm fighters so its hard to believe that tanya is in it. if u need someone to fight for kitana, u have sindel and the new shokan, if u miss kitnaa u can play as the evil twin. miss smoke, well u have noob.

sub made it in portal somehow and kenshi and cyrax got trapped inside thats how they got there.

ima telling you not that many earth heroes will make it for sure.

also they have a female raiden, why not have a female kano. it could also be lui kano merged together theory which i doubt.

lui kangs spirit which no longer has a soul makes sense to make it in this game, he is not earthrealm nomore.

skab yea i think that alternate outfit of noob with teeth mask is skab and without mask the teeth are real like the puzzle mode that could be skab and not another alternate for baraka.

magazine makes sense, also u tranlated wrong ken masters was a joke as said. german ppl dont get to go to E3 we do, so they could show them the secrets in that magzine cause they show new stuff to us not the germans they arent living in the e3 area.
