After 6 games there are allot of characters in the world of MK. I'm thinking that MK:D may kill off many characters either in the beginning/opening credits(Sonya/Cyrax/many others)or after the game/opening sequence of MK7.
It's getting harder for the team to make up new characters and with the some of the classic ones, getting old and worn out, they may be taking MK into a new direction with MK:D. Do you think that the Dragon King may win this round/game in the end and in the process of MK:D we end up with many characters considered "dead" or killed by the Dragon King? We have many missing characters especially from Earth. Maybe the DK has killed some of them already. This would be a way to purge the character roster and make room for some new characters in the MK mix for MK7. It's just beginning to seem like there are almost too many characters in the MK universe many not needed(Stryker) since their original game. I think this is a great idea for MK, of course nobody stays dead in the Realm of MK. Just a thought I was having after reading some of ya'lls posts.

Well, in the main Mortal Kombat story, Liu Kang has to be alive for the next Mortal Kombat championship. However, as I said at one point in time, they could be dishing out character concepts to see what people like. A lot of characters are just hit and miss, while some borderline in case something happens.

I believe the Dragon King will kill some of the Earth warriors. MKD will be the beginning of a new dawn in terms of both storyline and gameplay. This will be a time where characters are taken in new directions and probably taken out of MK by death or some other means. The thing to note though is that too many of the older characters have huge fan bases. To kill them off or leave them out too long would be a bad idea, even if it was to introduce new characters.

What I'm worried about is will MK7 be better besides graphics they did so much in MK6 will they run out of ideas or while they were brainstorming for MK6 they thought of things where they said lets save that for MK7.

Also I think the new characters will actually be in alot of future MK games if there are any instead of a 1 game appearnence and they will actually be important replacing some of the old characters.

They could very well be doing this, and it’s a good idea...the only problem is that every character should be reintroduced 1 last time then, especially in Mk deception. Its the first true mk game accessible to every 1 online... to leave out characters like kitana, stryker, sonya, jax, kung lao..Among others, and explain their absence by saying they r dead... would piss off a lot of people... what ever characters r going to be killed off they should be apart of mk 6..just so fans get 1 last chance to play as them. This includes stryker he has fans.

I was thinking along the same lines as many of you. That with the inclusion of so many new characters, maybe some (especially Earth/Mortal) warriors/characters are going to have to be replaced or written out of the story. Sonya, Jax and the other Earth warriors can't live forever and have to age sometime. Why not have Sonya move on with her life, get pregnant and/or married and have a family. Jax can move on or become a mentor/teacher whatever. I also realize that this is a game and the characters don't have to age, but there does seem to be a timeline happening with the ever increasingly interesting MK story so in my opinion some of these characters, even my fav's may need to move on either with life or with death. I really want MK to get past this killing off a character just to bring them back in the next game. Johnny Cage Dead, Liu Kang Dead, Raiden should be Dead. DAYS OF OUR LIVES has less ressurections. Even if we insist on bring back the more debatably "popular" characters, then kill of some not so popular characters and leave them that way. In another 3 games at the rate they're going we are gonna have a character select screen with 50-80 characters. Overkill. And MK hasn't been an actual tournament since I can't remember. MK has become more of a war game, a battle and strategy story that rests on a fighting game. I'm way stoked for MK:D and am really hoping that it is taking MK and it's characters into a new direction.
