My favorite pasttimes are of going to the arcade and pumping as many quarters into the Mortal Kombat aracde machines as I could afford. The atmosphere of the arcade setting was unbelievable. I was so surprised and angered when Midway announced MK:DA was coming straight to consoles. Sure, it made them concentrate more on gameplay, rather than trying to lure you into inserting more quarters, but I miss the setting.
I did have a chance to play DA in an arcade like setting in October of 2002. Nintendo had the Cube Club, and they had MK:DA there. It was SOOO fun. They had tournaments with the game, and just sitting back and watching people oohh and ahh over the next Mortal Kombat brought a smile to my face. I just miss MK in the arcades, can anyone else sympathize?

I will admit it won't be as fun as actually being next to the person you are facing in kombat, but there will be online play...which means you will always have the oppertunity to fight someone who isn't ai, unlike going to the arcade just to sit around and wait for someone to fight against you.
Im in the same boat you are, I was just saying the other day, while playing a arcade game how much this industry has been crushed. It was sooo much fun going to the arcade throwing in those quaters, having fun, getting pissed, wasting money, ACTUALLY INTERACTIN WITH PEOPLE!!! it's a bummer, but unfortuantly probbly the right move for any future of midway games.
No immidiate future for MK arcade games, actual in the arcade.....even more so with the inclusion of Online play.

Yeah, the online play will definitely ease the pain of the absence of an arcade version. Just the whole atmosphere is what I miss.

I used to like going to the arcades, I can't say that I necessarily miss it though. With the home systems getting more powerful each generation, its exciting to see what comes out. The arcades are good and I do think that Arcade games should be made but the home systems are doing a fine job of keeping me entertained.
I must also say that the online play support for MK 6 is really getting me excited. I didn't have a wide variety of people to play Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance with but with online it opens up new doors and new opponents.
I can't wait to play some of you on either Xbox Live or PS2 online. I'll definitely will be online with it with the Xbox!

Yeah I agree online does give us a more human approach but nothing will ever replace the actual face to face gruding between gamers. Just stuff like, gathering around to see who could pull of the new fatalities, or nearly getting into fights over winning/loosing, facing the frequent gamer with that string of 50+ wins, and slamming your foot into the side of UMK3 machine because you lost to the CPU; Seriously I miss that one... can't take agression out on my own stuff.
But this is the here and now, and arcades are dying. I believe though that down the road arcades will again come back, but for right now, MK6 on the net.
