i am beginning to think mk:de is budokai 2.
budokai 2 was also hyped up with new characters that the fans wanted, like buu and majin vegeta. there were new special moves.
the stages were more interactive. everyone was enthusiastic about the game. but when it was realesed, people were disappointed because frankly the fighting game engine didnt improve.
the comment most people made was: this should have been budokai 1
my question for all of you: do you share that feeling? that this should have been mk: da and withoout any good improvements on the fighting game engine the game will not be as good as we think it is?
( and yes i know the game is in beta stage)

In that case, then yes. MKDE should've been MKDA in many aspects.
MKD is a fighting game and it will be judged as a fighting game. All the extras, fatalities, costumes and mini-games won't save it in the end. The core fighting engine is what matters but that is not the focus of attention.
The gameplay of MKDA relied heavily on who will get the first hit in to start a huge-ass chain of hits. That's all it was about, trying to get ONE HIT in them start the infamous "dial-a-combo". This needs to change.
The addition of combo breakers and new moves is dandy and all but is it enough? We will find out soon.

hmm... yeah i guess so... but imo botokai wasn't a good fighting game.. intertaining but not good.. since all the people had the same moves.. when botokai 2 was comming out.. people where hyped.. and it was good better of sorts.. still same gamplay though... i mean combo wise.. well and the powers...
hmm talking about ki energy attack fighters that fly.. i wish they make a psychic force 3.. or a battle arena toshinden 5... yes they made 4...

wanderer we agree on something, lol!! but yea battle arena was definitely the shit back in the day, I'm surprised they havent revived that game for a sequel. I dunno about comparing Budokai to the MK games, other then some basic similarities. As far as the game speed for MK goes, it does seem to be a bit faster, im surprised boon & co. just dont include an option to manually change it in the options.

budokai wasn't THAT bad
but I don't think MKD will be overhyped.. I'm getting the feeling things are settling down a little bit after E3..
