Ok, it deadly alliance there are several graplling styles, such as judo, ju jitsu and aikido. Some would argue this point, but I believe it is possible. FMV can be done, but what about smooth, grappling system to compliment the gameplay? It is possible, like in Virtua Fighter Evolution (which is a really good fighting game)MK:DA had the distinct advatage to switch up fighting styles, which is ingenious, but I 4 one would like to see some barmlocks, chokes, and other submissive moves to disable the opponet. There's been talk about stage fatalities mid-battle, so does this seem so far fetched? It would be cool to if they could break bones, without the hassle of Tao Feng's fighting engine ( good idea there, but they didnt pull it off) whats everyone else thoughts?

For one, Aikido isn't a grappling system it's a system based on using negative momentum in your favor. For two, that is an awesome Idea!

Aikido comes from ju jitsu... it is a grappling art. In judo they are taught to throw and grapple on the ground, in Aikido they throw, pin, lock ( the wrists are a common target) and fight when they are on thier knees. Judo and Aikido come from ju jitsu, except aikido is more circular and judo is using only the safest of ju jitsu techniques. And yes it is an awesome idea

I would like there to be at least a basic grappling system implemented into MK:D, It doesn't have to be extensive like Tekken because Mortal Kombat would focus more on special moves as it always has.

A grappling system sounds good. It would add a new element to the throws. Maybe being able to reverse throws and throwing the opponent instead could be implemented.

I like it! These locks and holds can keep doing damage until you escape by tapping block or something like that.

Yeah, throw reversals too. Virtua Fighter would be the best example I can use. Take Aoi for example, she can break limbs on the ground after a throw. Or Goh, he can attack on the ground using armbars and such. Throw attempts are thwarted when one player does a thow attack the same time the opposite person does, and there are individual reactions to each throw. Ex: A throw which tosses a person over their shoulders is used successfuly. In another scenario, the person who is getting thrown presses at the same time thier throw escape, and, still going up on the shoulders of the person, but this time sliding off.

Well, all Martial Arts are derived from Asia Minor particularly India. When the Chinese Monks went on a journey to India they were taught the art of defending themselves and spiritual cleansing, they brought it back to their Temples in China and adapted their own versions called Gung Fu (which due to ignorant British translators is now called Kung Fu). Later on when all of the Eastern Asian Empires were vying for supremacy and rule the Arts were transported to these foreign lands. My point is that just because one style is derived from another the sister style can be altered to extreme lengths which is in the case of Jiu Jitsu to Aikido. Trust me I know what I'm talking about.
