Sub-Zero - his clan was brutalized from the inside by Sareena and now the Lin Kuei is nothing but a bitter memory. Sub-Zero feels responsible for the death of his army and the fall of the Lin Kuei. With very few followers left judging his motives and thinking the death of their comrades was intentional, Sub-Zero sets out to redeem himself. He swears he will bring back honor and the head of Sareena.

Raiden - As protector of Earthrealm, Raiden will do anything to keep the people of Earth safe, even it it means his death or the down fall of his comrades...

Kenshi - After his brutal and humiliating defeat by Mavado, Kenshi was left with a brand. Because of Mavado, Kenshi was unable to save the souls of his ancestors. Kenshi's new mission is to kill Mavado for delaying his destiny.

Kung Lao - Kung Lao was not successful in killing Shang Tsung. Though, believing he had, he only beat him to a pulp. It was too late to go back and kill Shang when Kung Lao was aware that Shang was still alive. Angered and filled with rage, Kung Lao raises back to the boat to outworld but on his way he witnessed Johnny Cage kill Kitana....

Johnny Cage - After his return to Earth and his ultra blockbuster hit movie "Mortal Kombat", life became terribly wrong for JC. After a press conference JC was attacked by minions that looked extremely familiar to the ones of Shang Tsung. Though the people around JC could not see them, they were real. People thought JC went completely insane, because of his strange and paranoic behavior people started to avoid JC. JC begged for help claiming he was chased by madmen who wanted his soul. Everyone thought he was on drugs, the moviestar Johnny Cage was no more than a drug addict in the media's eyes. The only way JC could seek any help was to go to Outworld. JC made it to Kitana's castle hoping to find some refuge but instead found an unwelcomed ceremony. For some odd reason Kitana attacked JC the moment she saw him. Kitana fought as if her life depended on it, she wanted to kill Johnny Cage. JC realized that this was no joke and Kitana really wanted to kill him. Johnny Cage fought with all his strength, he believed this was not the real Kitana because of her actions. The fight was over and JC stood over the dead body of Kitana wondering what happened. Kung Lao watched the fight and saw JC kill Kitana. Johnny Cage is a schizophrenic drug addict in earthrealm and a wanted criminal in outworld. The only person who can help him now is Raiden, who is nowhere to be found.
