Yesterday’s THQ quarterly results were followed by a very informative conference call and today, following Midway’s Q4 results, the company held a conference call, one very much as informative as yesterday’s with THQ. Starting off things, Midway addressed low sales of Dr. Muto, Defender and Haven. The company attributed lower sales of Defender to the fact the brand was very old. Continuing on platformers, the company stated it wouldn’t do anymore games of the kind (Dr. Muto, Haven) unless more confident in the quality of the title.
On the subject of upcoming releases, Midway went on to reveal that MLB SlugFest 20-04 will hit the Xbox, PlayStation 2, GameCube and Game Boy Advance on March 17th, with the company’s Freestyle Metal X shipping for the Xbox and GameCube during June. Meanwhile, looking ahead, Midway announced it has 42 titles in development for the year. This breaks down to 12 for the PlayStation 2, 11 for the Xbox, 11 for the GameCube and 8 for the GBA. In addition to the 42 titles however, Midway’s also in development of a series of other games. These include a new basketball game in development from the team that handled NBA Jam, a new internal FPS in development along the lines of Metal Gear Solid, a mission-based driving title along the lines of Twisted Metal Black and Grand Theft Auto, a new survival-horror game, and a remake of the classic title Narc.

In concluding announcements concerning new titles Midway, in what’s sure to come as a surprise, announced that another Mortal Kombat game is in development. The platform for the game wasn’t disclosed, but it was said the game would be released during calendar 2004.

Go back up and read my initial post; I am talking about it being said that Mortal Kombat 6 is supposed to be out in 2004 - I didn't say anything about any 4th quarter results. Sorry if you misunderstood me - ignore my harsh blabbing.

Yes, but my initial post spoke of MK6 hitting in 2004, not about quarter results. And I see nothing in the threads about WHEN MK6 comes out. And had you read through that entire thread, you would see that at the very bottom it, once again, reitterates what my initial post about MK6 said.

Hey...been away for a while (and there was much rejoicing..yay..). But did this article actually state it was MK6...or could it be that game that isn't "necessarily a sequel"?
