If MK6 is going to use the same engine as MK5 then I feel they should add multi staged environments. Using buttons like B, F, HK as a universal way of knocking your opponent off the higher level onto lower levels, following a small "jump down" scene as seen in Dead Or Alive. It would be cool to see that traditional roundhouse kick seen in MK4 to knock the opponent spinning in a 3d manner used for my idea on multi staged levels. This would only feel like a 3d MK3 with the knocking up onto other stage areas. Thats sweet right?
I could picture an old church and the fighters starting on a portion where people sat to pray. And you could kick them down onto the main area of the church revealing stained glass windows and the beams of light from those windows passing down onto the wooden dusty floor. And you could see the dust rise up when you knock your opponent onto it from the upper level. If they wanted to take it further they could have you throw your opponent through the windows.
But I know the MK team couldnt possibly take that much time on all the levels. SO.. they could throw in some nostalgic levels that only involve 2d movement.. but this is realistic if used in a manner to say sport another pit 2 sort of stage. I mean, you cant move 3d on a bridge right? So then you'd have awesome new age graphics on a 2d stage, we never really saw light of that you know? And imagine since its only 2d movement how much detail the background could have.
Incorporating multi leveled stages would be an excellent advancement for pits. If you could imagine a stage where you were fighting above an outworld arena similar to the one that housed Kintaro, you'd be vulnerable to be knocked down into that pit and having cage doors open up for outworld dogs or animals to come out and attack you. It would be a great cutscene involving the dogs running out and maybe one leaping and taking your arm as you try and put it up to protect your face and then another following that to leap and take you down and then having the rest pile on to eat you alive. Thats the kinda shit that would make the MK series really NEW and fresh and REALLY make us feel like "Wow, this thing is so innovative."
I would die for a job at a video game company.

Yes. This definately should be put in. I mean I was shocked t hear MKDA DIDN'T have multi-levels. I mean at the time it seemed every 3D fighter had it. If there was any game that deserved it, it was MK. I sure hope they get more time next time. Hell I hope they start working on it SOON for a december 2004 release.
