How would you like to pay to play MK6 against other people?
1st off I hope it is like xbox live, as terms as in you pay a flat $50 a year to use the MK6 online( I would pay) instead of the monthly fees like GC's PSO and PS2 online games. Off a subject I bit I hear soon you can register a xbox live Subscription at a retailer like EB games instead of using a cretid card and calling and stuff. ( Hope you can do the same thing with MK6, just pay Midway ,X amount of money a year instead of monthly fees). I don't think I would want to play MK6 online if there was a monthly fee, to me it is better to pay all at one time and to shell out bits of cash over 12 months. I guess I point to MS 's Xbox Live structure because I view it as the best online plan on the console market( I don't have an xbox, but I would like one if I had Broadband). End the end this is the only way I would pay to play MK6 online against other people. If you have any other ideas of a good ideas of a payment plan please share. Thanks for your time users :.l Please note above I am not bashing Nintendo or Sony's online plans or there systems,PS I hope MK6 online is also availble for 56k :.(

It'll probably be a monthly cost since it is just one game. Sony's online plan doesn't include any money. It's just you buy the NA and plug it in and do your stuff and then put in a game, it's the game that you pay for not going online, same with GC. Xbox is the only console that you have to pay to actually go online. And I'm in doubts if MK VI will support dial-up and other narrowband services because it's usually a fast-paced fighting game. On narrowband there could be considerable lag. If you do have to pay for MK VI online (and you probably will) it'll probably be over 10 bucks a month. That's just my guess but most games I've looked up on have 10+ bucks a month service. So get a credit card and broadband, I have neither but online play isn't that big a deal for me.

I know Nintendo doesn't charge anything for PSO its on segas end. And don't you have to pay $9 month a start up you online gaming account with the PS2 adapter. I know that sometimes you don't have to pay money for certain games online but sometimes you do for other games you have to pay a fee. I bought a PS2 adapter for future and it says something about fees. Don't get me wrong I am not trying to start an arugment over online fees

With my only moderate connection, I don't think I'll be getting myself involved with the online play in MK6. I don't own the equipment either, and I see no point in purchasing it seeing my computer wouldn't be able to support it. Don't get me wrong though, online play is a great idea since Midway has abandoned arcades now. It will bring that feel of playing against strangers, well not really strangers, but experienced foes back into the MK world. That feeling is what made MK the success it is today.

As far on my opinions on the cost of this, it really should be based on one game. I don't think its neccesary to make the payment larger, because alot of people haven't used online play such as myself, and alot of the people that will play MK6 online might have never experienced online play.

they should accept money orders too, not everyone has a credit card. i think it would be better though if you had a choice of paying between 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and a year.

you said something about your computer not being good enough, if its running on the xbox/ps2 then it wont be using the computer more than for the connection right?

Microsoft tends to do things a bit different in the way the charge for things. Notice how the PS2 will play DVDs right out of the box? For the XBox you need to purchase the remote. MS states that this is really paying for the right to play DVDs (since the technology requires a licensing fee from whoever holds the patent on the DVD and/or MPEG format). Sony, however, has simply opted to include this in with the cost of the console. Granted this makes the PS2 cost more than it would normally, but the console is already cheaper than the XBox in the first place. This, since the majority of PS2 owners do use the DVD playback ability, feels like MS is "nickle-and-diming" their customers. Not good.

However, the identical thing goes with the online capability. MS charges yearly, as the are banking on making their money that way. I beleive Sony and Nintendo have done the wiser thing by simply hiking up the price of the game a bit, and charging for a separate network adapter. That way, only the people who will use the online capabilities will pay for it. The rest of us won't be stuck with the charges.

It's sort of flip-flopped.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!!? You have to buy memory cards and an online adaptor for both GC and PS2. That comes right out of the box with Xbox. DVD playback isn't that important for a game console and besides, you have to buy the DVD kit for PS2 if you want 100% compatibility (the list is at ign for movies that don't work without the upgrade). You don't need Xbox Live either to play online. A lot of people use Xboxconnect for free. I don't see the problem with Xbox Live. You get one gamertag, a flat rate of $50 a year for all games, and voice communication.

It's a gamble for PS2 and GC. You don't know which games are going to charge a price and if you're serious about online gaming, I'll take a flatrate of $50 anyday for broadband only, one gamertag to get recognized, and no cheaters. PS2 online is a freaking mess. Cheaters everywhere. Xbox Live you can report them and they're gone for good.

So how are you stuck with charges for Xbox? You're not required to buy Xbox Live to go online with it. Xbox is the cheaper console and anyone who disagrees Xbox Live is the best online service out there is retarded. Period.

You have to buy a DVD kit to play ANY DVD on Xbox.

Obviously. I never said differently. It's still the cheaper console if you add up the prices.

Actually you can mod your Xbox so you don't need the playback kit.
I should probably have added that my statements were based only on what I have heard about the online services. Since I am on dial-up, I really haven't take the time to research online playkits. When DSL comes my way, however, it will be a new story!

That's beside the point. Not everyone knows how to modify a system.

And not everyone knows how to install a broadband adaptor for PS2. Who cares? I'm not sure if you're trying to argue or what but everything you're saying I already said.

I want you to go back and quote where you said 'You have to buy a DVD playback kit for the Xbox.'

And I'm not trying to argue. You're just like any other fanboy.

Menthol, when you buy the PS2 Online adapter, I assume you get instructions. That does not happen with modding, not to mention it's not legal?
Stop being an annoying X-Box fanboy.

Do you seriously believe I didn't know you needed a DVD playback kit to play DVD's on the system? That's what you're arguing. Why? You're a fanboy who now realizes the person you're calling a fanboy is absolutely correct. I didn't say it here. I meant whatever point you're making I already know. At the end of the day, it's still the cheaper system. Which is all I was pointing out.

They come with instructions, you are wrong. Me = not fanboy. Me = says truth. Not sure about the legal issues with modding but that has nothing to do with what you can and can't do with your system and how much it costs. It's the cheapest console, period. No fanboyism about stating that.

If you ain't 'bout remedial, I don't know what the fuck you are. Dude, I know you are right, all you did was state garabage that everyone on this board knows about the systems. I don't know how you can call me a fanboy when I have all three systems.

By the way, if you are going to state something, I wish you would... example: You claim you said 'You have to buy a DVD playback kit for the Xbox' and what you were trying to say was that you knew it. Then you just said that all you were trying to say was that the Xbox was the cheaper system. If that was all you were trying to say, you should have said it and shut up.

What a hypocrite you are. The guy said the Xbox is the most expensive system. I said he was wrong. Obviously not everyone knew that. Then you came back with a response everyone already knew including me about needing the DVD playback kit. What was the point? Probably to prove me wrong about something. Still trying to figure it out. Me shut up? har har har

All I was doing was just inform that you have to buy a DVD playback hit for the Xbox as well. I guess you took it the wrong way, I don't know.
