Hi, I'm new here (No need to fear, I'm not one of those bloody newbies who speaks ghetto all the time and does nothing but say "u r dum", that's the reason I left trmk.org)

Based on the endings of MKDA, here's a fictional pitch for MK6:

STORY

Kung Lao was successful in defeating Shang Tsung, thus ending the Deadly Alliance. Quan Chi oversaw the ensuing battle, and refusing to aid his cohort as he did during the battle with Liu Kang, he fled to his sanctuary to amass the army of the Dragon King. However, Shang Tsung anticipated his betrayal and dispatched the Oni Drahmin and Moloch to kill the sorceror. During the conflict, the tormentor Drahmin was knocked into Quan Chi's inner sanctum chamber and transformed. During the struggle, Quan Chi's amulet was lost, and with it, control of the Dragon King's army. Meanwhile, however, things had taken a turn for the worse.....

Reptile, hot on the trail of Nitara and Cyrax, found the incubation chamber of the Last Dragon, and in doing so awakened the greatest and most ancient evil in Outworld- the Dragon King.

The Dragon King and Drahmin then encountered one another, each with their own reason for desiring possession of the amulet- with the amulet in his possession, the Dragon King would regain control of his undefeatable army. With the amulet at Drahmin's disposal, the Oni could open the netherealm gateway and unleash a horde of demons on an unsuspecting outworld.

The Dragon King therefore announced the coming of a new Mortal Kombat. The Finest warriors in history, blind to the true power of the amulet, would seek it out, and the winner would become powerful beyond their wildest dreams. The Dragon King of course had no intention of fulfilling this offer- once the amulet was recovered he would set his army upon each contestant, effectively wiping out those defending their realms from an invasion.

Earthrealm's warriors immediately entered the contest with the intention of destroying the amulet, and then defeating the overlord.

The secret cult, the Brotherhood of the Shadow, also entered the tournament, with the intention of raising the only being they saw capable of beating the Dragon King, back from the dead- Shao Kahn.

Others merely entered the contest to fulfill their own ends- vengeance, profit, power and bloodlust.

KUNG LAO
With Shang Tsung dead, Kung Lao faces a new threat- The Dragon King. He is enlisted by Raiden to aid him in the destruction of this new threat.

KITANA
Kitana was ready to settle on her throne in Edenia until news of Kahn's planned Ressurection reached her homeland. She now uses her skills as an assassin to stalk the BRotherhood of the Shadow.

RAIDEN
One of the only contestants aware of the amulet's destructive power, Raiden is also one of the only mortals powerful enough to defeat the Dragon King in Mortal Kombat. He enlists many of Earthrealm's warriors to stop the ressurection of Shao Kahn, while the rest aid him in defeating the Dragon King himself.

SCORPION
The invincible ninja spectre returns, having yet to annihilate his nemesis, Quan Chi. However, he now finds himself also chasing Drahmin- who means to destroy Outworld with a legion of Oni.

QUAN CHI
Having lost Shinnok's amulet, Quan Chi is in a weakened state, and could face death at the hands of Scorpion any minute. With Baraka as his bodyguard, Quan Chi must find a new source of power.

SUB-ZERO
Sub Zero enters the contest after another attack by Sektor. Outraged at Mavado's attempt to use Sektor against the Lin Kuei, Sub-Zero returns to the contest in an attempt to re-enlist the cyborg ninja.

SEKTOR
With Sub-Zero as the lin Kuei grand master, Sektor's objective to assassinate him was effectively nullified. With no objective, Sektor then allied with Mavado, who gave him an opportunity to rebuild the Lin Kuei as an artificial assassin base.

MAVADO
Learning of Kabal's return, Mavado enters the contest in the hope of killing the renegade Black Dragon. However, aware of the presence of special forces and without Hsu Hao to watch his back, he instead dupes Sektor into joining him as a means of protection.

DRAHMIN
After supposedly dispensing with Quan Chi, Drahmin transformed, his rotting flesh turning to unspoilt skin. Though still inhuman in appearance, Drahmin revelled in his new form, and aspired to free his demented Oni kin from the Netherealm, so they may destroy Outworld and regain mortality. The only way he could achieve this is if he breached the dimensional gate with Quan Chi's amulet.

KABAL
Regaining strength after Mavado's assault, Kabal enters the contest bent on destroying the Red Dragon. However, he finds himself under attack from Sektor, and must wait for the right opportunity to strike.

SONYA BLADE
Sonya enters Mortal Kombat with the intention of wiping out Mavado and his Red Dragon cohorts. She then finds herself under attack by Outworld forces, and must defend herself in the Contest.

BARAKA
Wandering Outworld aimlessly, Baraka found Quan Chi wounded after his assault on Drahmin. With Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn dead, Quan Chi was the only sorceror capable of recreating his bride Mileena, and so offered his services in return for her restoration.

REIKO
Leading the Brotherhood of the Shadow, Reiko wanders into the tournament while travelling to Shao Kahn's crypt. There, he and Shang Tsung's shadow priests would resurrect Kahn, who would then annihilate the Dragon King.

Sounds like you need to call Ed Boon and send this in.
You my friend have some good ideas and they would prove very usefull to Ed Boon and the fate of Mortal Kombat.
Thanks for the kind words, man. Judging from the lack of replies I'm guessing not everyone here shares your sentiment on this but opinions are what counts, eh?

I do like your idea about the Dragon King holding a contest for the amulet. Its pretty original, and it would make a good storyline for MK6. The only real problems I see are the lack of characters. Why only 13? Also, I like to hear peoples' ideas for new characters, you could maybe through in 3-5 new ones. I basically like all the characters you brought back, but drop Sonya, she needs a rest. I dont think Shang or Cage should be gone, but thats just my opinion.
