MK1: the first game in the serie
MK2: introduction of the stage fatalities, friendship, babalities
MK3: intro of the combo system, background interaction(uppercut through the roof), animalities
MK4: first MK in 3-D, possibility to dodge, throw projectiles who are in the background, intro of the weapon system
MK5: intro of the multiple fighting styles, possibility to impale our opponent with a weapon, weapon combos
MK6: ???
i mean I'm gonna buy MK6 for sure but for the average fighting game fans what will make him want to buy MK6 more then any other fighter on the market?
the new background interactivity(like in MK3), the multiple fatalities? What does MK6 bring on to the table for the serie?
I just hope that if they don,t innovate, they will at least concentrate a little bit more on the 'special moves' something that have been lacking a lot in MKDA IMO.

Well considering that the fighter market is pretty barron I'd say MK is a good choice based on that alone. But you are right. As a fighter in contrast to others it lacks somethings in terms of depth.
But IMO it is the most fun 3D fighter out.
MK has the best story out of any fighter IMO.
Coolest characters next the KOF games.
Only think it lacks is a good, solid, balanced combo system that can appeal to everyone. A lot of people did not like the juggles, and dial-a-combo stuff. Personally I liked the MK3-MK4 combo system, but I guess that don't cut it this time around.

The market is baron? There are four fighting games releasing and going online this year alone. Not to mention a new Tekken on the way late this year or early next and VF5 in development.
Let's see, you've got MK: D (online), SVC (online), GGXX Reload (online), Guilty Gear Isuka (probably online), DoAU (online), SS5 (could be online), SF Collection, KoF 2002, KoF 2003, Fight Club, MK1 and MK2, and maybe KoF 2004 and Tekken 5 all hitting console or arcades this year. That seems like a pretty solid roster of fighting games to choose from and a lot of them are online.
I'm an MK fan, but I didn't like DA, I haven't liked an MK game since MKT, and thus far I'm not impressed with Deception. I'll give it try strictly because of the online play, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

i liked mkgold, but it was near impossible to doge in the game, actually it never worked 4 me as much that i played it.
and ur wrong, mk2 did not introduce stage fatalities, the pit in mk 1 was a stage fatality, mk2 had more of them. 3 of em to be exact.
i think mk3 introduced the first multi tear stages, like u said uppercut threw the roof, and doa3 copied it, mkd is just taking it back.

Well, I've got a couple of ideas.
A fighter creator (just like THPS) , music alocater (for the XBOX version) and clothes tearing off in battle (if that ever happens).

Online play will be big, I guarantee it. One of the first (if not THE first) fighting game to do this on home consols (excluding the PC). I think it'll have a good amount of new features, every MK game does. You forgot to mention the gambling aspect, the Konquest mode, the minigames etc in regards to MK:DA (although the minigames idea was taken from MK1).
I just hope this game has has more fluidity than MK:DA has. The characters in the game feel too stiff and jerky. Also, the controls tend to feel a shade off. Other than that, and the lame fatalities, I really dug MK:DA. Really good story, and the style branch combos rock.
MK is becoming a good, solid 3D fighter, which is something most 2D fighting game series have tried and failed (ahem street fighter EX cough cough). Is the hand to hand stuff as deep as Tekken or Virtua Fighter? No not yet. Is the weapons fighting as deep and varied as Soul Calibur? No. But MK:DA is only the second game the MK team has done in 3D, so I'm guessing MK:D, with the foundation already laid with MK:DA, will have a ton of new features, new moves, new special moves, new fatalities, new secrets, and new modes like a truly good sequel should. Just my opinion.

Also, (and I'm sorry my last post was so damn long!) MK keeps having to deal with new generation formats. MK1 and 2 were both in the same generation, so they took the framework and made it infinitely better. MK3, UMK3, and MKT were all on PS1, a new game engine. MK3 was good, UMK3 better, and MKT took everything and put it together. MK4 and MKG had a new 3D engine. Now a new generation, the PS2/Xbox has come out, and now a new engine has been made YET AGAIN for MK:DA. MK:D will be be able to take that engine and make it a LOT better. They won't have to spend so much time on laying ground work, and they can spend more time on new fatalities, better graphics (although MK:DAs were solid), new modes and features etc.
No fighting series has had reinvent itself as many times as MK has. It's been around longer than all of the other 3D fighters, and the 2D fighters that were around longer aren't exactly raking in the fans (and the dough). Many, though not all 2D fighters are obsolete. A niche market. MK has had TONS of innovation, new features, fresh ideas etc to keep the series fresh, and I have NO doubt in my mind that that trend will continue with MK:D, simply because of the situation the MK team is in now. They have the framework, now they can make it better.

Well if they had clothes getting teared off and such... Then that would mean 3D Nudity and such... and alot of people wouldn't be able to have the game or play it at like Family Get-Togethers and they'd have to edit it for Arcade if they made an Arcade version because it would be in public places. Either way... Any amount of clothe tearing would be awesome. Just keep it to a certain extent which I'm sure that's what you meant and not what I was talking about in this.

No!! Damn it, I've waited long and hard to see the MK women nude and now's our chance!
j/k, j/k
Still, though, with what video games allow nowadays, I wouldn't be surprised if they let it.

well i personally wouldent mind seeing Kitana and other MK females fighting naked, but i hope it dosent happen. I want an era were MK is on top again and bringing new minds to the wonders of ripping off someones head. and besides MK takes enough bullshit for its violence we dont need sum bastards complaining about the nudity as well.
Well saddly we won't have to worry about that arcade problem as it's not ported for arcade box's. And to be honest, Im not sure nudity would make MK anymore or less acceptable to a family gathering with nudity... it's allready pretty damn disturbing; not to say nudity woulnd't add to that fray.

It's not shocking anymore, at least not to me. Though I did gape when I saw the end of the MKDe trailer. Whoa, that was unexpected. heh
But, I dunno, the violence isn't really shocking anymore.

The ripped clothes would be good but i don't want it to get to the level of nudity that would just look stupid. LIke who is gonna fight to the death with nothing on.
I really hope the multi teired levels and the stage interactivity make are back in MK:De
