Here's what I think should happen:

Liu Kang- He's done. He does one final heroic deed, says his good-byes, then moves on to the Heavens to rest in peace. Time to pass the torch onto someone else.

Johnny Cage- I say he survives, but this is his last game. He hasn't been going anywhere since the beginning. After the final battle, he'll retire. Possibly ride off into the sunset with Sonya.

Sonya Blade- Same deal as Cage. She settles her remaining business with the Black/Red Dragon and retires. Her and Cage's daughter will be in the next generation.

Kano- Dead. Sonya, Kabal, Mavado, the Easter Bunny....I don't care. Someone kill him for good. He's way past his prime and has gotten beyond stale. Overdue.

Raiden- Toss up. I think Raiden's death would be a good end for this generation, passing the torch to Fujin. But somehow I don't see it happening. If he comes back in the next gen, her should be a villain.

Sub-Zero- He'll survive. One way or another. In the next game, he'll either pass the Sub-Zero name onto another or just return himself.

Scorpion- Yeah, we're stuck with him.

Reptile- I think we've reached the end of the line for Reptile and I don't see a happy end for him. Hopefully, he'll at least go out in a blaze of glory.

Goro- Kung Lao kills you. The end. Your latest return from near-death was one too many.

Shang Tsung- I think we'll see then end of ol'Shang here. Liu Kang finishes him off.

Kung Lao- Retires. Small chance he somehow becomes the new MK Champ and returns for the next generation, but I'm thinking retirement. He can train the next generation of heroes.

Jax- I think he'll die. Either killed in battle which would piss Sonya off. Or maybe he'll disappear and return in the next gen as a villain to terrorize Sonya's daughter.

Kitana- Retires. Settles her business with Kahn and Mileena, becomes Queen of Edenia. She's had a good run, but it's time to pass the torch and she's earned her happy ending. If she comes back in the next gen, something cataclysmic must happen to Edenia.

Mileena- The odds favor her dying, but I really think Mileena should survive. I think she should finally let go of her hatred for Kitana and return in the next generation trying to forge a new life for herself.

Baraka- The standard-issue henchman bit is old. Mileena finishes him. He's done.

Jade- After Kitana retires, Jade takes up Edenia's defence. I'd like to see Jade become her own character and develope more in the future.

Smoke- Like Reptile, I think we may see the end of Smoke here. Hopefully, he too will go out in a blaze of glory.

Noob Saibot- I think we'll see the end of his threat in this game along with most of the others threats. Taken down in grand fasion by Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Sareena.

Kintaro- I'm thinking they brought him back just to die. Pity.

Shao Kahn- He's done. End of the era, end of the Emperor. I think Kitana, Sindel, and Mileena should be the ones to take him down.

Sindel- I think she'll fall in the final battle with Kahn. Passes the throne on to Kitana and her soul rejoins Jerrod in the Heavens. Tra-la-la-la.

Nightwolf- Dead. Casualty of war.

Stryker- Him too.

Sheeva- Ditto.

Sektor- I think Sektor will be thrown away here. I don't think they're going to follow through on the Tekunin's potential and it'll just be ended right here.

Cyrax- I see him dying. Casualty.

Kabal- I see death. Don't know how or by who, but I don't see him surviving.

Ermac- I think Ermac will make it into the next generation and develope into one of the main heroes like Sub-Zero did.

Rain- Hard to say. I'm leaning towards death though.

Khameleon- If she even comes back, I'm honestly not sure. Maybe she can survive and return in the next gen or maybe she's just end up a casualty. Toss up.

Motaro- Dead. Casualty.

Shinnok- Dead. Going down with the other major villains.

Quan Chi- He'll die, but I see his spirit or influence living on in some way in the next generation. Sort of like Sauron or something. An evil taint that will never fully go away.

Sareena- She should survive into the next generation. Way too soon and too much potential to be wasted. I'll be pissed if she goes.

Fujin- He should surive and take up Raiden's mantle as Earth's Guardian in the next gen.

Kai- Not sure. I guess a casualty. But maybe he'll make it and be part of the next generation of heroes.

Tanya- Realistically, I know Tanya will most likely die a horrible death in this game. But I really think she should surive and her rivalry with Jade should be developed and continued. What a waste.

Jarek- Dead. Casualty.

Reiko- Like Kintaro and probably Stryker and maybe even Rain....brought back just to die.

Kenshi- I can see Kenshi making it and returning in the next generation.

Li Mei- Her too. I think she'll survive the Onaga ordeal and return in the next generation, coming to terms with the evil inside her and trying to redeem herself OR fuly corrupted by evil and trying to finish what Onaga started.

Frost- I'm thinking she'll die. If there's to be a new Sub-Zero in the next generation it won't be her. The fanboys would freak out.

Hsu Hao- Dead. Casualty.

Mavado- I'm thinking he'll die in the big showdown between the Black and Red Dragon and the Special Forces.

Nitara- She should survive. She's cool and I can see the Vampires playing larger roles in the next generation.

Bo' Rai Cho- Dies or simply retires. This'll be his third game and most fans still hate him.

Drahmin- I'd rather see him survive and return in the next generation as the new ruler of the Netherealm.

Moloch- Dead.

Blaze- Dead.

Ashrah- I think she'll survive. But I'm not sure if she'll return. If she does come back, Sareena better fucking come back.

Havik- He got a good reception and he can easily fit into future stories. I see him returning to cause trouble in the next generation.

Hotaru- Dead.

Dairou- Maybe survives. Toss up.

Darrius- Dead.

Kira- I can see her surviving, leading the next generation of the Black Dragon.

Kobra- Dead.

Shujinko- I'll think he'll die heroically taking down Onaga.

Onaga- Dead.

There are a lot of people that I would like to see survive, but the name ARMAGEDDON suggests that heaps of people will probably die, even if they deserve to survive. I am guessing that some people would survive, but just not be in the next generation of MK. Lots of people would probably die as casualties. Anywho...

Ashrah: She will survive, but retire. She has mega potential, but I just can not see her in the next games. I think Sub Zero will team up with her (no idea how they meet) and they defeat Noob Saibot. She ascends from the Netherrealm, but probably won't return for the next game.

Baraka: Bo Rai Cho's forces will kill him. Casualty.

Blaze: Not sure, we need to find out more about him. He will probably be defeated like most bosses, but he won't mysteriously come back in a later game.

Bo Rai Cho: Three games. About three fans. There is no way he can survive. He is leading an army against Baraka, so I see him defeating Baraka, but dying to some other Tarkatans. Casualty.

Cyrax: I think only one cyborg will come back, and that won't be Cyrax. He will probably die. Casualty.

Dairou: Potential with him finding out that Darrius killed his family (not as much potential as Scorpion though...), but his lack of popularity will lead to his death. Probably by Hotaru or Darrius.

Darrius: A good rivalry could develop between him and Dairou, and there is the one with Hotaru already. I don't think he could survive both these guys.

Drahmin: I think he will die a dishonourable death (kinda like he deserves). He was never really anything special, and unless he changes a lot, there is nothing there for him. Casualty.

Ermac: Most likely he will die. I would say since he wants to make up for his past, he will do something honourable before he dies. Maybe he will push Kenshi out of the way when Kintaro was gonna pound him - who knows? Casualty.

Frost: She will want revenge on Sub Zero for 'killing' her. I have seen things about joining Noob and conquering Netherrealm. I doubt that would happen because it gives Noob enough power to kill Subby. Maybe she will try to kill Sub Zero, but just dies.

Fujin: I see him taking Raidens place and Raiden becoming a villain. He should survive because he has awsome potential, he just needed to be used in the last two games.

Goro: Like XiahouDun84 said - he will be killed by Kung Lao. He has been waaaaayyyyyy overused as far as sub-bosses go. Kintaro and Motaro (who will probably die anywayz) need a chance.

Havik: He should die. This is unlikely as I think (sorry if I am wrong) that he is the only link to Chaosrealm. He should die though. Casualty.

Hotaru: He will probably have a huge war with Darrius. I think Dairou could join and together they defeat the resistance. Havik could side with the Resistance and oppose the Order - who knows? He will probably end up dying.

Hsu Hao: Useless character with no fans and little popularity. Definitely will die. Casualty.

Jade: Not sure. She could survive after killing Tanya and helping the good guys, but she could also save Kitana's life somehow. I would like to see there friendship further explored.

Jarek: Cheap copy of Kano. He should die. Casualty.

Jax: I like Jax. He is a really good character, but I still think that his storyline has run dry. This whole Outworld investigation thing has run dry... he will die. Casualty.

Cage: Overdone - been in MK 1 - Deadly Alliance and no decent storyline. I don't think MK is about the storyline, but if they can't fit in, they can't be in the game. He will die. Casualty.

Kabal: He is the new leader of the black dragon. It will be interesting to see what will happen now that there are five members of the Black dragon (Kabal, Kano, Kobra, Kira and Jarek). He will probably die though and be succeeded by another.

Kai: Krappy character. I think he will die. Casualty.

Kano: With the masses of Black Dragon people, it will be interesting to see. He could maybe poison Kabal and succeed him, who knows? He will probably die though - he has been overused.

Kenshi: Popular and all around cool guy. It would be a real shame to see him die - but because I like him he won't die. . He will help in the whole war part of Armageddon. Definitely a survivor.

Khameleon: Not sure if she is in the game. She would probably die tragically trying to reach Reptile if she was in it though. Casualty.

Kintaro: Finally, someone decent who can replace Goro. It's a shame that he will probably die. Casualty.

Kira: Good chances of becoming the new leader of the Black Dragon. It would be a shame if she died because we never really had a chance to explore the real Kira with her unoriginal moves. I think she'll survive.

Kitana: She will survive and reign as the Queen of Edenia as she deserves (not that Sindel isn't good, because she is heaps mad!) It might change - depends a lot on Rain. If she survives, she won't be in the next generation of games.

Kobra: He will probably die. He is not strong enough, and seems to have no discipline. Unoriginal like Kira, but I can't see him surviving as I can with Kira.

Kung Lao: Cool character. People are saying he could be the new Lui Kang - I don't think so... He could survive and retire.

Li Mei: She could go to her evil side with Onagam then die there. If she remains good, she will probably die. Good character though. Casualty.

Liu Kang: Overused. He was cool being the hero in the first game. Second game; a bit repetitive. Third game; ...yawn. I think that he got even worse with this whole spirit thing. He should die an honourable death.

Mavado: Nothing special. He seems strong (took Kabals hookswords and everything) but I think he will die. Casualty. If not that way, the five members of the Black Dragon will definitely take him and Hsu Hao out!

Mileena: Interesting... she has a lot of enemies after her deception, but her storyline is just too sweet to let go of. I hope that she survives though. XiahouDun84's idea of her teaming up with Kitana and Sindel to defeat Kahn is pretty interesting too...

Mokap: *Shudders* Dead. Casualty.

Moloch: I think he could team up with Drahmin and defeat Quan Chi. Drahmin should die, doesnt deserve to live, but Moloch could be interesting. I wouldn't mind him surviving; it would be something unexpected.

Motaro: Nothing special - if Sheeva killed him before, the whole good guy army can. Casualty.

Nightwolf: I think he will die. Casualty. He is a good character, but no chance of survival.

Nitara: It is interesting to see that she was the whole reason for Onaga coming back. She is pretty cool, but she did enough. It is time for her to die. Maybe Reptile will kill her.

Noob: Interesting again 0 there is always that idea of him and Frost teaming up against Sub Zero, but Sub's popularity ensures his safety. He might die at the hand of Subby.

Onaga: He will die at the hands of Shujinko. That would be predictable, but probably the only way to go.

Quan Chi: He probably will die. Maybe at the hands of Moloch, maybe Shinnok, maybe Shang. Who knows? He has made too many enemies to live through Armageddon though.

Raiden: I think he will survive and become the boss of the next game. If he doesnt become the new boss, he will die.

Rain: Not enough revealed about him. Could go either way. Just like to point out that if he remains a traitor, a relationship with Tanya could be interesting...

Reiko: Like Rain, more info needed

Reptile: He will probably die in the whole war thing. Casualty.

Sareena: Another one without much info known. Maybe something could happen with Noob Saibot - not sure.

Scorpion: Must survive - too popular to die. No idea about his storyline though.

Sektor: Interesting... his Tekunin thing hasn't been explored much. There is potential there. I think that there would only be one Cyborg surviving. Not Sektor though. Casualty.

Shang: Another intersting one. May survive and be in the next game. He is one of the only bosses I have not had anything against, but I think that he will die. His allies have got him everywhere, but now he doesnt have Kahn or Quan Chi. He will probably die.

Shao Kahn: Die! Die already! Way overdone! He has been around for too long, and I think his time is finally over. I like the idea of Mileena teaming with the Edenians to defeat him. Not sure (just hope Lui Kang doesnt defeat him again).

Sheeva: Now here is my favourite (dunno why) character. She will probably die due to lack of involvement, but doesnt deserve death. I think that she could be a valuble ally to the Edenians. She is against Kahn (for killing her) and of course Motaro. She could be a very good character, but I don't think that the MK team will do much with her. Probably a casualty.

Shinnok: Never like him much. He would probably die. Casualty.

Shujinko: I think he could be the first victim of Raiden's new dark side. He will probably and predictably kill Onaga, then die from Raiden.

Sindel: She will probably die. I think she will tragically die at the hands of Kahn when her and Kitana (possibly Jade, Mileena and/or Sheeva) go and attack him. I think, not because she isnt good, but because she has been Queen for too long, that Kitana should take over.

Smoke: He is the cyborg that I expect will survive. I think a confrontation between him with Noob against Sub Zero (and maybe Ashrah or another ally) could be interesting, with Smoke remembering Sub Zero and turning on Noob. I hope this will happen.

Sonya: I like Sonya, the only original MK girl, but I think her time is up. She has always been a good character, but she has beem there for too long. I think that she will survive and retire.

Stryker: Die. Casualty.

Sub Zero: No chance of death because of his popularity, I would like a face off with Noob Saibot though, that will be good.

Tanya: Unpopular. Dead. Casualty. She could maybe be a big threat to Edenia, maybe even teaming up with Mileena or Rain and attacking Edenia. I am not sure, but because I know this won't happen, she should be a corpse.

Raiden: he will end up qutting and do his duties as a elder god

Rain: i dont know anything about him but hes looking good in mka he might live but he could also die its 50/50 for me

Reptile: hes too big of a fan favorite to kill off midway doesnt want to kill off a character that would probably decrease there sells.

Sareena: shes soooo bangin id like her to live but she could die

EDIT: MKSM wasn't 100% canon. Don't read too much into that.

Now, here's who I think will survive/die (Part 1):

Ashrah: I'm on the fence about her. Given her involvement with Noob and Ermac it makes me lean towards death for her, but since so little has been brought into play here, I think she has potential for the future.

Baraka: Kill him. The henchman thing is old, was never interesting, and neither is the new thing with Mileena. It was very predictable, and Mileena should be the one to end Baraka's stale existence.

Blaze: I like Blaze. Unfortunately, his promotion to super-boss guarantees that he'll die. He won't make it to MK8, or any future game for that matter, and I'm not sure who should finish him off.

Bo' Rai Cho: Another guy I like, ridiculous as that sounds. Realistically, I think he'll be more of a passive observer in this game, and he will retire. I think MKD is the last game we'll see him as an active participant, but if they kill him off, he won't be greatly missed (by myself or anyone).

Cyrax: His storyline is interesting only because he's been involved with so many people (Sektor, Smoke, Sub-Zero, Special Forces, Nitara, Reptile) and I would like to see him survive. However, he probably won't, because he isn't a very popular character and is a minor part of the Special Forces storyline.

Dairou: I'd like for his MKD ending to come true. Have him kill Hotaru, and have him retire from his dangerous mercenary profession. I don't think that he deserves to die, because he can still offer to the series, but after the reception he got after MKD, or lack thereof, I don't think we'll see him in MK8.

Darrius: He should die. He was an uninteresting character in the whole Order-Chaos shenanigans and doesn't have much to offer unless they go and make another adventure game simply on the struggle in Seido.

Drahmin: Could go either way. He was a terrible fighter in MKDA IMO, and his storyline wasn't anything to call home about. He just didn't impress me much, and I want him to die, but the MK team might keep him in there for one more game.

Ermac: I will fight anyone who thinks he should die. The MK team establishes him as a insanely powerful fighter in UMK3, but his storyline was suspect until they moved him to the good side in MKD. Now he has the fighting skill and the good storyline to make him popular enough to stick around for a long time. He'll become the next Sub-Zero in a sense that he'll be one of the most popular, if not primary, heroes.

Frost: She should die. We only need one ice warrior, and that's Sub-Zero. Maybe if she were to join up with Sektor and he automated her, that would be strange but something that could keep her in the series.

Fujin: It's his turn. Give him the main Elder God and protector of Earth status and send him on his way into the next generation.

Goro: They brought him back in MKD.... why? So he could kill Kitana in his ending? Um, yea, because the MK Team is really going to use that as canon. He should die, and it should have been Kintaro if anything in MKD.

Havik: The best of the new characters IMO, he's already got enough people both fighting for him and wanting to kill him, perhaps at the same time even. He's very interesting and should be a main player in the next gen.

Hotaru: Dead, have Dairou kill him in a side battle. The Seido storyline is unrelated to the main struggle anyway.

Hsu Hao: Dead, thanks to Jax.

Jade: Should kill Tanya, and along with Ermac become one of the main heroes in the next gen. Her character really hasn't been developed much and she has so much potential if she takes over the Edenian defense.

Jarek: His return puzzles me. I can't make a call on him until we get a bio on this guy, that's an interesting outfit he's got there.

Jax: Should kill Hsu Hao, but be killed by Mavado or Kabal or some random Black Dragon. I don't like him, he's gotten stale and been turned into a stereotype in MKDA, give him the boot.

Johnny Cage: He should be the first one to go. He doesn't have what it takes to hack it in this battle, and his 4th death will be his last. He'll go out in style, though.

Kabal: He should survive and take over the reins of the Black Dragon for good. He's more interesting than anyone else in that clan and his Good->Evil twist is unique. Keep him around.

Kai: They probably brought him back to die, which is a shame, because I really think he can be a big part of the series in the next gen. If the MK team doesn't feel that way, let him live anyway, just have him retire. Don't kill this guy off, he has a lot to offer.

Kano: Old, stale, has become a joke, get rid of him. Sonya should win this fight once and for all.

Kenshi: As much as people like him, I think Shang Tsung will kill him. There isn't a whole lot of sense in bringing Ermac and Kenshi into the next gen unless you make Kenshi the main hero and Ermac the Bo' Rai Cho master-figure. Don't get me wrong, I want thim to live, but I think he's gone.

Kintaro: He's been brought back to die, I doubt he'll figure into the next gen games and he never really had much to offer to the series.

Kira: Sadly, she'll survive. She'll be the second in command of the new Black Dragon, and it wouldn't be sensible for Kabal to have to start all over with the new Black Dragon. I don't like her, but she does have some potential for the future

Kitana: She should get her happy ending and retire. She should defeat Mileena in some kind of final encounter. Let her rule Edenia with Jade at her side, but don't let her get in harm's way again unless something catastrophic happens to Edenia. Her storyline has run dry and it's hard to imagine her in any more games after this one.

In my opinion:

Ashrah: Survive. I love her and she has loads of potential. She must ascend from the netherrealm by killing Noob or another demon.

Baraka: I like his moves, but his time is over. Mileena will probably kill him.

Blaze: As the main boss, he will certainly die.

Bo Rai Cho: I'm not sure. I don't like him and wouldn't like to see him again, but I don't know how he could die.

Cyrax: I would like to see him dying when trying to save one of his partners.

Dairou: He is my favorite character from the Orderrealm. I like his storyline, but I think it can be finished in MK:A. If he survives, he must retire.

Darrius: Killed by Dairou

Drahmin: I'd prefer to see him dead. But if he recover his human form, why not give a chance to him?

Ermac: Survive. He can be one of the MK heroes in the next generation

Frost: I woudn't mind if she dies. But if she survives, she must forget about Sub-Zero and the Lin Kuei

Fujin: Survive. He must be the new Earthrealm's protector.

Goro: Die (and this time, permanentely). Kung Lao can do this job.

Havik: I didn't like him too much in MK:D, but I'll give him another chance in MK:A. But right now, he can dies.

Hotaru: Even though I hate him, I must admit that he has potential. Imagine if he decides to restore the Order in other realms.

Hsu Hao: We only need one member of the Red Dragon. And I'd prefer Mavado.

Jade: Her storyline wasn't developed yet. It would be a waste if they kill her off. She must be the new Edenia's heroine.

Jarek: Killed by anyone who dislikes the Black Dragon (Sonya, Jax, Mavado...).

Jax: Killed by any member of the Black Dragon.

Johnny Cage: Either merry Sonya Blade or get killed in battle.

Kabal: I don't know yet. It will depend on his role in MK:A.

Kai: We have a lot of potential heroes for the next generation and Kai is one of them. But I'd prefer somebody else.

Kano: Dead. Sonya must kill him once and for all.

Kenshi: Survive. I like his storyline and he has potential to be in the next games.

Khameleon (if she's in): Survive. It would be interessing to know more about the Saurian people.

Kintaro: They tried to put Goro in almost all the games and it messed his storyline. Kintaro, on the other hand, didn't even have one. If they want to put a male shokan in the next games, I hope it's Kintaro.

Kira: If I had to choose one member of the Black Dragon to survive, I'd pick her. But I wouldn't miss her if she dies.

Kitana: Survive for sure. She must be the new Queen of Edenia. She don't need to return in the next game. Hes storyline is so good that I wouldn't like to see it being destroyed like Goro's and Scorpion's.

Kobra: Killed by Kira or anyone else.

Kung Lao: Survive. And, if Liu Kang dies, he will have a great chance to have his storyline developed. He is a nice character to be remembered only as "Liu Kang's friend".

Li Mei: She must survive, but disappear for a while. Then, maybe in MK9, she must return as a threat.

Liu Kang: Well, he defeated Shang Tsung, Shao Kahn and Shinnok. The only game that he wasn't around, the good guys were defeated. If he kills Blaze, it'd be very boring. He must die as a hero and let somebody else take care of the main boss this time.

Mavado: He has a lot of potential as an evil guy. He shold be one of the greater villians in next games.

Mileena: If she survive (which I doubt), she must forget about Kitana and get her own way. Maybe she can rule the Outworld.

Mokap: Does he really count? Well, dead or alive, he shouldn't return in next games.

Moloch. Dead.

Motaro: I'd like to know more about the centaurs. But his survive will depend on his role in MK:A.

Nightwolf: Must be killed in battle.

Nitara: If she returns, I think we'll need another vampire. Or, in every game, We ́ll see her searching for an orb to free her realm...

Noob Saibot: I don't think he will be killed by Ashrah. And I hope that he doesn't kill her either. Anyway, if he has to die, I'd prefer to see Ashrah doing this. I wouldn't like to see Sub-Zero killing his brother.

Onaga: He dies, and Li Mei come back to finish his work.

Quan Chi: If I had to choose one of the bosses to make a return, I'd pick him. Not because he's my favorite (which he isn't), but he has more potential and his story wasn't explored very well. But I'd prefer a new boss in the next games.

Raiden: I like him, but he shouldn't return anymore. Let Fujin take his place.

Rain: Survive. He has potential to be an amazing character in the next game.

Reiko: He will never be like Shao Kahn. He must be killed by the emperor himself.

Reptile: Survive only if Khameleon does. If she does not, I don't see how his storyline can go without being repetitive.

Sareena: She has potential and her storyline wasn't expored yet. I want to know if she knows Ashrah and if she will be good or evil. If she is good, I'd like her alive, but if she is evil, she must die.

Scorpion: OK, his moves are cool and because of this he is in almost every MK game. And his storyline is becoming... well... boring. If he returns in the next game (which will probably occur), they must take care of his story. Personally, I wouldn't mind if he disappear for a while.

Sektor: Another character which will probably be wasted. Of the cyborgs, he is the one with more potential. In the next games, I'd prefer to see him as a threat, not only fot the Lin Kuei, but for all the realms.

Shang Tsung: He's storyline is good, but it must be finished in MK:A. Kenshi must kill him.

Shao Kahn: He is the best boss ever, but, like Shang Tsung, his storyline must be complted in this game. Kitan, Sindel, Rain or even Mileena must kill him.

Sheeva: It will depend on her role in MK:A. If she returns, I'd like to see her in the good side.

Shinnok: He must be killed by Raiden. An the Thunder God will have to sacrifice himself in this battle.

Shujinko: He was a joke in MK:D konquest. Poor Shujinko! Maybe the Elder Gods can restore his life and this time he can enjoy it.

Sindel: I like her, but MK:A must be her last game. She should meet Jerrod in the heavens and let Kitana be the Queen of Edenia.

Smoke: If he is in MK:A just to be controled by Noob, he must be killed. I hope he is free of it. If he is good, I'd like to see him disappearing and return only in MK9.

Sonya: Survive. After killing Kano, she would find anther rival. Maybe Mavado or Kira.

Stryker: I'm not sure about him. If he survives, he must have a better storyline.

Sub-Zero: Survive. And as the grandmaster of the Lin Kuei.

Tanya: Since they want to finish all the current rivalries, I'd expect to see her being killed by Jade.

Taven: It's too early to talk about him, but I guess he will be the next generation new hero.

My opinions, continued:

Kobra: Kill him as well. He deserves to die. He isn't interesting, never was, never will be. Kill him once and for all.

Kung Lao: He'll either survive and become the main hero, or die a valiant death at the end of the final battle. If he goes out, it will be in true style and his legacy speaks for itself. If he lives, say hello to the new Champion of Mortal Kombat. The MK team has a big decision to make here.

Li Mei: Kill the bitch. I liked her storyline in MKDA, because I have a soft spot for underdogs. After watching her MKD ending, however, all respect for her just went out the window, and the beastiality is appalling lol. She's gone down the road of Tanya, betraying her realm and allies by siding with Onaga. Like Mr. Garrison once said, "The bitch must die."

Liu Kang: Should defeat Blaze, and ascend to the heavens. To have him rule Edenia with Kitana is a bit cliche in my opinion.

Again, I'll post some more when I have time.

Ashrah - Dead. Killed by Noob as she tries to slay him.

Baraka - Dead. Killed when his men rebel against him.

Blaze - Unsure. Need to see his full story in MKA.

Bo' Rai Cho - Survive. Unsure on whether he should retire or return in the next game. He'd be a good mentor to future characters.

Cyrax - Survive, but largely retire his character (Keep his ending open enough to bring him back at any point though).

Dairou - Survive, but retire.

Darrius - Unsure. He could be killed by Hotaru or Dairou; return as a more interesting, villainous character; or simply be retired.

Drahmin - Dead. Killed by Scorpion as he tries to go Quan Chi.

Ermac - Survive and return in the next MK game.

Frost - Dead. Killed by Sareena during the fight against Noob.

Fujin - Survive and return in the next MK game. He should take Raiden's role.

Goro - Dead. Killed defending Kitana from Shao Khan.

Havik - Survive and return in the next MK game. We need a trouble maker.

Hotaru - Unsure. While he may succeed in keeping "order" in the Orderrealm, he could be killed by any number of characters (Darrius, Dairou, Havik, Kenshi, Sub-Zero, etc.). He will most likely be a casualty.

Hsu Hao - Dead. Killed by Jax.

Jade - Survive and return in the next MK game. She should take Kitana's role as the primary Edenian fighter.

Jarek - Dead. Sheeva should tear him apart, while Sonya breaks Kano's neck.

Jax - I want to see "angry" Jax go crazy and kill a whole bunch of people, but let him find peace and survive in the end. Retire his character though.

Johnny Cage - Unsure. He may become a casualty, perhaps killed by Goro. If he survives, retire him.

Kabal - Dead. Killed by Jax.

Kai - Survive and return in the next MK game. He could play the role Kung Lao once had.

Kano - Dead. Killed by Sonya after being lured to her by a vengeful Sheeva.

Kenshi - Survive and return in the next MK game.

Kintaro - Unsure. I'd say he should survive though. I can see him becoming a major baddie in the next game, and a rival to Kai.

Kira - Dead. Killed by Jax.

Kitana - Survive, but retire and rule over Edenia.

Kobra - Dead. Killed by Jax.

Kung Lao - Survive, but unsure whether he'll retire. He could become the main hero of the series if Taven doesn't takeover. If Kung Lao is upped to being the main hero, I'd say just retire time.

Li Mei - Dead. Onaga should be like, "Eww, bitch, get away from me!" and kill her. Dragan on tranny sex = nasty.

Liu Kang - Unsure. Liu Kang should definately be the one to save the day since this is the last game, but I don't know what will become of him. He'll either go on to Heaven or comeback to life and live with Kitana in Edenia (Or simply live alone and continue to train). Whatever the case, retire him.

Mavado - Dead. Killed by Jax.

Mileena - Survive and return in the next MK game.

Mokap - Dead. He accidentally falls off a cliff.

Moloch - Dead. Killed by Scorpion as he tries to kill Quan Chi..

Motaro - Dead. Killed by Kintaro.

Nightwolf - Unsure. Who cares?

Nitara - Unsure.

Noob Saibot - Dead. Sub-Zero makes the hard decision to kill his brother after realizing that there is no longer any trace of "human" or goodness in him.

To continue what I started:

Mavado: He should be killed in the Black Dragon & Red Dragon vs. Sub-Zero & Special Forces plotline.

Mileena: Lose to Kitana, and either survive and retire or team up with Kitana but die in battle. I don't think she has much left in the tank for MK8, unless Kitana were to be killed.

Mokap: Retire. It would kind of be unfair to kill him off with absolutely no development. However, I suppose that would mean that they wouldn't have waste any time with Mokap.

Moloch: Killed in battle by Scorpion.

Motaro: Killed by Sheeva, Goro, or Kintaro.

Nightwolf: As much as I want him to survive and be the next mentor, he's probably done. Not enough of a major player in any plotline to survive to MK8.

Nitara: She'll live. Like most of the neutral characters, she isn't really in any danger of getting cut down by anyone.

Noob: He will either be killed by Sub-Zero, Smoke, or Scorpion, or he will live and become the next boss, or ally with Sektor. Time will tell.

Onaga: Overwhelming chances say he'll die. Hopefully Reptile will off him.

Quan Chi: Dead, by Shinnok, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Shang Tsung, Raiden, whoever. He was way too many enemies to survive.

Raiden: He shouldn't die, but I feel he should pass the torch to Fujin. His time is up as the main protector of Earthrealm.

Rain: I want him to reconcile with Edenia for betraying them and fight on the side of Kitana and Jade. He'll probably die either way, but I'll keep him as my #2 favorite if he switches to the good side.

Reiko: Probably brought back to die, but since his story is unknown, like Jarek's, I won't pass judgment on his fate just yet.

Reptile: I've posted about this in Shadaloo's thread, so if you want an extended version of what I'm writing here, go there. I want Reptile to uncover the methods to restoring his race somehow. He should survive, but retire, and an offspring of his (possibly with Khameleon) should fight in MK8.

Sareena: So many allies, so little time. We don't know what side she's on just yet, whether it's Noob's or Sub-Zero's or Ashrah's. Like Jarek and Reiko before her, I can't say whether she'll live or not. I really wouldn't care either way.

Scorpion: Well, we're pretty much stuck with him until the end of time, might as well try to like his storyline, if there even is one anymore.

Sektor: If the MK team kills Sektor off and we never see the Tekunin again, it will be the biggest waste in this series. By giving him this robot army to build and control, they have opened so much potential beyond the whole "Kill Sub-Zero" thing that we see in a lot of characters now. He had better live to see MK8.

Shang Tsung: His time has long since been up. He'll kill Kenshi and then will be offed by either Liu Kang or Kung Lao. Time for the original baddie to finally go.

Shao Kahn: We've seen too much of him and with his return in MKD, I think his chances of dying have increased even more (if that's possible). I'm sure, however, that even if he does die, he'll be back again down the road if Havik gets his hands on Onaga's heart.

Sheeva: She may have been brought back to die, but if she survives, which I doubt she will, I'd be interested to see what the MK team does with her.

Shinnok: I think he'll be the one main evil guy to survive. He's smart enough to do it, and his powers are incredible. He also has a shot at becoming the main boss for MK8 (which would likely make Noob the sub-boss in my opinion).

Shujinko: Unfortunately for Shujinko he's been brought into this conflict too late in his life. I'm not saying he won't be able to survive MKA, but he won't return in this series regardless of his outcome.

Sindel: She's likely going out here, I think she'll be killed by Shao Kahn, if anybody. Tanya is also a possibility, though I doubt Jade will let that occur. Sindel won't be back in MK8, Kitana is taking over.

Smoke: He'll reconcile with Sub-Zero and rejoin his side, but will probably be killed by Noob once he discovers this. If he lives, he could also become one of the main forces for good in MK8. If he dies, I really hope he dies good and not evil.

Sonya: Will defeat Kano and retire. Completely. The Special Forces will be no more or will be controlled by Jax or Cyrax. She'll be gone, but she'll live and as I just said, she'll retire as one of the true legends of Mortal Kombat.

Stryker: Shame they brought him back, he'll probably be killed off pretty quickly. However, if he somehow makes it, perhaps he can renew the Special Forces under his own control (and the Elder Gods only know what would happen then).

Sub-Zero: Another guy we're stuck with, but I don't mind being stuck with him. I think that this will be the last fight for the current Sub-Zero, and he'll pass the name to a younger Sub-Zero. He'll still be Grand Master, but not an active participant in MK anymore.

Tanya: Similar to Li Mei, the bitch must die. Jade will kill her. End of story.

Taven: He'll survive, obviously. He has to carry the torch into MK8. Taven is the bridge between MKA and MK8, he has to live on.

Dairou - the order - chaos conflict is a very potential one and if speculated properly could lead to great things, so dairou should live if the conflict is going to be well exploited

Drahmin - pretty pointless in my opinion give him a gruesome death and I’m a happy camper

Ermac - he should survive, I like his concept, his symbolism, his overall style and his story isn't half bad and I’m kind of wondering how he could die...

Frost - death is the magic word, not the best character ever, not that original

Fujin - he should takeover Raiden and become more bent on leadership than fighting

Goro - Kung Lao should kill him the MKG ending isn't that satisfying

Havik - he should either die or get a greater involvement in the chaos - order conflict

Hotaru - nice armour nice samurai design nice weapon he needs to become the key element in the order - chaos conflict and if he does he is likely to become a very good character

Moloch - same as Drahmin, for all I care they should fight one another and crush themselves into submission

Motaro - just like Kintaro

Nightwolf - I don't see how his story should continue, he should join his ancestors

Nitara - interesting character worth a shot in the next game, but she has to avoid the kitschy vampire story

Noob Saibot - time to die and smoke should be the person doing it should be smoke he it's his right

Onaga - someone has to kill him somehow, Scorpion is most likely

Quan Chi - a confrontation between him and Tsung would be awesome, all in all he should die, he is a very well built character from some points of view but he should go

Raiden - a confrontation with Shinnok is unavoidable and both should find their finish, I don't know how this darker influence is going to twist his plot, he might become the next Shao Khan, as some people suggested, but it would be kind of cliché.

Rain - he should live but the MK Team has to be careful about his evolution

Reiko - don't see his presence that important, not that bad of a character but I think he should go

Reptile - time for him to go out and he should go out with a big bang he's worth it, I hope they don't devolve him to death

Sareena - she should continue, fresh character and has some potential good plotlines

Scorpion - he is going to make it, he's boon's crack he can't give him up

Sektor - if Cyrax survives so should he if not the are plenty of ways of going out

Shao Kahn - the all time MK boss, he is a legend everyone knows him, Scorpion and Sub-Zero, but the other two are going to make it, he is spent

Shang Tsung - a confrontation with quan chi would be interesting but I think he has Liu Kang's name on his tombstone ("Liu got him! For GOOD!")

Sheeva - just like Kintaro

Shinnok - as I said a fight with Raiden is an obvious possibility

Shujinko - not a well built character, not too original he should die

Sindel - it's time for her to reach that eternal peace and let Kitana rule Edenia

Smoke - of all cyborgs he most deserves to live and he should get a good story, more original than what he was confronted with so far

Sonya - dead in the massive red dragon - black dragon - OIA battle

Stryker - too American, too cliché, too kitschy, time to die Kurtis

Sub-Zero - he is going to make it 100%, no one even care how anymore

Tanya - not that impressive she is likely to be killed Kitana or Jade

Taven - he is likely to become the next hero lets hope he is more original than his predecessor

the only thing i can think of is the SF chasing him, or the Lin Kuei rivalry

and we all know the SF is more concerned with the black dragon and none of them have died yet so why go after the tekunin?

i would say an advanced cyborg due for a return with an army backing him up with crazy upgrades just coming back into the story from japan is likely to acheive one of his goals, therefore decreasing his chance of dying if anything.

Well, here goes...

After the dissolution of the deadly alliance, tsung and Chi become enemies, with quan chi continuing to roam the netherealm and outworld while pursued by scorpion, whereas tsung makes it his goal to kill quan chi for his treachery. ON his journeys, quan chi opens a portal to earthrealm for baraka to lead his hordes into, and scorpion, molocha and drahmin all get caught up in the invasion, scorpion holding his own against the tarkatans. Drahmin gets battered around and left for dead, and baraka takes on moloch himself, cutting him apart with his blades. before he can celebrate this victory, he gets scorpion's spear to the back of his head, killing him outright. With no leadership at all, the tarkatan army descends into chaos, rushing through the portal and killing anything they see on sight, leaving a badly wounded scorpion behind.
Far away from this chaos, shang tsung catches up with quan chi, and after a long battle,kills him. He goes up to the corpse to drain his soul, but, as so little is known of quan chi's origins, tsung has no way of knowing that quan chi has no soul, only a curse in it's place. This curse kills shang tsung, and as all his sould flee from his body, the curse mixes with them, and creates a new warrior, like a dark ermac (possible sub-boss for future MK's)
Back in earthrealm, the now leaderless tarkatans are arriving thick and fast through the OIA portal. Sonya, jax, cyrax and kenshi all fight heroically, but kenshi is killed in the battle, and cyrax is struck down, assumed dead by his comrades.
In the events building up to armageddeon, kano was imprisoned in a special forces prison some few hundered feet from where the battle is. Kobra and Kira have been given direct orders from kabal to free him and take him to kabal, with kira acting as a superior for this mission. From the monent they met, kira had sensed that Kobra's recklessness could lead to the downfall of the new black dragon, and she is yearning to take the black dragon into a more cold hearted, calculating clan. In her eyes, this cannot be accomplished with kano and Kobra alive, and so Kobra is found somewhere on a road with a dagger in his back. When she gets to the base, she picks kano's lock, and as he exits his cell, she raises her dagger. Her battle cry is silenced by a large hand tightly gripping her mouth. Kano ducks out of the way, but she still manages to stab him in non-bionic eye. Because of his implant, kano can still see, and shrinks back into the shadows to see what becomes of this. It is too dark to see clearly what is happening, but kano hears kira neck snap, and into the light steps Hsu Hao, disguised as a guard, with his uniform covering up his new bionic heart. (A replacement for the one that jax tore out) The engage in mortal kombat.
Back at the portal, Jax operates an EMP that destroys all electrical signals within a 1 mile radius for aproximatley and hour, in order to stop the electrical energy holding up the portal. He activates it from inside a protective pod to make sure his arms aren't affected, but tragically, Cyrax was still alive from the battle, only badly wounded, and the EMP kills him outright. The portal closes, and alongside sonya, jax fights with no quarter, winning the battle aganist the tarkatans.
Back at the prison cell, Kano and Hsu Hao are fighting each other to a standstill, but as they are less that a mile from the battle site, both of their bionic implants stop working as a result of jax's emp. Kano is now completely blinded, and Hsu Hao drops down dead. Kano, stumbling around blinded, sets off the alarm, and sonya rushes down to the prison to see what is happening. Finding Kano down there, and mistaking hsu hao's body for the body of a guard, she breaks kano's neck, and take's Hsu hao's body back to Jax, who recognises hsu hao, and throws the body out into the wasteland.
Later on, kabal and jarek set out tofind what has become of the black dragon members he sent, as it was unlike them to take so long for such a simple task. It was nightfall by the time that they found Kobra's body, and they assumed it to be the work of some bandits. In need of a place to send the night, kabal set out into the open to find a safe place. He had not been gone 10 minutes then he heard a scream. He rushed back to where he left jarek, to find him hung from a tree with a red rope. Kabal drew his hookswords, but they were knocked out of his hands by a red flash, and at that moment he knew what it was. Although he thought he had killed mavado, mavado had acttually mastered an ancient chinese trick where he could stop his own heart and play dead. Spending the events of deception hiding in the shadows, he finally leapt out from behind kabal, tore off his respirator mask and smashed it against the floor. He stood back and laughed as Kabal slowly gasped and choked, before picking up kabals hookswords, and swiftly beheading him.

That's pretty much all the ideas i've got so far. so, the jist is:
Dead: Kenshi, cyrax, kano, kabal, kobra, kira, Hsu Hao, Shang Tsung, Quan chi, Baraka, Moloch, anyone else i mentioned as dead.

Alive: Jax, Sonya, Mavado

Unknown: Drahmin, scorpion.
