The Mortal Kombat series consist of 12 games so far and MK6 will be No. 13. Mortal Kombat suffered a big change with MKDA and it looks like it will keep evolving in the future Mortal Kombat games. MK6 will have a strong, new story with the Dragon King issue and it looks like the series will go on and we will have Mortal Kombat for a long time. But, you know that the creators can change everything very easily and make the Dragon King saga the last one so the Mortal Kombat series can finally rest.
So, what are your thoughts? Do you think MK6 will be the last MK game, being the Dragon King saga the last one? Or, do you think we will have Mortal Kombat for a while being the Dragon King Saga the begining of the new face of Mortal kombat?

Peace.

I honestly think that MK:DA already changed the saga/face of Mortal Kombat. They took a whole new direction with style, approach, engines, story, fighters, everything. So at the same time as they changed the gameplay, the changed the story somewhat. I think both were the births of this 'new' direction. I'd maybe look for Kang in a hidden role somewhere down the line, but I really think this story needs him to be dead..and since he was the main part of the other MK's, I think it's safe to say, 'The saga has just begun'..

I don't like the whole dragon king story. If he was so good he would be ruling right now. But that is not too important. I am worried about MKDA's poor gameplay and MK team using the DA's weak engine.

Yeah, I gotta' agree there. I think it's time for a change. Kung Lao as the new "hero", for me, is better than Liu Kang. This is Kung Lao's oportunity to shine. It will be interesting to se the earth warriors battle a new enemy without their fron man, Liu Kang, althought apparently they have a new one, Kung Lao.

I agree w blade-tsung, that MKDA was a new beginning for the MK series, as far as gameplay, story, and overall feel. I also think it caught a lot of people by surprise in a number of ways: the implementation of the new fighting style system, the death of Liu Kang, and even the fact that Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn were still alive. The last is important, IMO, because it shows us that we can never assume anything in the MK universe. Also significant was the length of time between MK4 and MKDA, as it was equal to the length of time between MK1 and MK4. I'm not a huge video game fan, and I never really followed MK news on the internet or anything until the summer of 2002, when I was shocked to learn of the impending release of MKDA. Until then I had just assumed the MK fanchise was dead. So I think MKDA marks the resurrection of the MK series, and seems more likely to signal the halfway-point than just the beginning of the end. I expect the series to come out with 3 or 4 more major games before the end.

I think that they will keep making Mortal Kombat until people stop buying them.

I don't think the MK series will end with MK6. I basically have no clue on when it can/will. It could be around for another 4 or 5 years. Maybe more. Who knows.

I dont think it will end, thats almost like saying "we have seen the last of James bond" Just like the different look of the new James Bonds's Pierce Brosman, I think mk took a different but consistent change in V.

weak engine?

and as for the DK being defeated in the past. nothing last forever, but in his time, he was the greatest, perhaps he wasn't immortal and he just died the way things normally die. or perhaps shao kahn used his magic to curse him. we just dont know.

anyway, since mkda did so well, mk6 should do only better, and with those sales, we will get a mk7

p.s mkda gained more mk fans than the ones it may have lossed

mk will stick around for a while because now the fight is about who earth belongs to. since reptile found out he is orignaly from earth and now vampires want to jump into the mix getting piece of the action.
mk is going in a good direction. I wanna see more games, and midway wants to make more money.

Yeah, the Dragon King Saga probably will take 2 games and maybe the story will suffer another turn with Liu Kang's resurection and Shao Kahn's comeback. It will be interesting to see if Shao Kahn returns, who will he allign with? Earth warriors to take on the Dragon King and regain the throne and reveal himself against Earth warriors or allign with the Dragon King so he can be near him just to betray him and regain the throne.
We'll just have to wait.

Peace.

i dont think they'll be bringing kang back.
The MK team seem to care more about the majority, wich is why they killed kang in the first place.

they will have more fans with him dead, if they were to bring him back, many current fans will be pissed off at such a cowardly move. that would only prove that nothing ever changed in the game.

as for kahn, well he does see to be on demand lately, i for one wish him dead cause he was a pretty boring boss and he's old news

But what if they bring him back totally changed? I mean, an evil Liu Kang would be interesting. Not good or neutral, but pure evil, even with a new look and similar-but-darker powers.

Yeah, Shao Kahn was pretty boring but hey, they can change him too. What if he returns bigger, stronger, and more evil, with a new look and new powers too?

Peace.

Midway is trying to make a comeback, they are headed in the right direction and to end the most successful game franchise they have would be financial suicide. Don't look for MK to end anytime soon. I might even look for previous MK games to be re-released on the new platforms.

If MK6 is the last game I hope it is really good and goes out with a bang! (Thinking about every character in every MK game rendered in 3d)

Mortal kombat6 better not be the the last game and I think the last mk game should be something like a mk trilogy with every mk character ever in it.

MK will probably end as it started with Liu Kang battling Shang or something.
